Looks really good, I think it will be as good as the origianls if not better. Anyone else going to get it?

Good LORD yes.

RE gives meaning to my otherwise worthless existence. Yes, I shall be buying this game. Though in my eyes nothing can match the sheer splendidness of the Gamecube REmake. Wonder if this one features crimson heads?

Nothing that has been shown so far has had the crimson heads, could just be holding out though.

Since it is a prequel and the crimsons were new to the GC version I'm guessing it won't. But I'm sure they have something else for us.
But they got bigass bugs.

Yeah. It's mine.

Have not played to much yet but seems to be at least as good as the others if not better. Prettiest damn game I have played in a while though. Early on you and your partner are crawling around on the roof of a moving train in the wind and rain, looks amazing.
I'm waiting until next week to buy, EB has a deal if you buy 2 GC games so I'll partner this with Metroid.

I've read some luke warm reviews, but they mostly seemed to be rehashing the same old issues (controls) and sounded a lot like personal vendettas.

If it's as good as the remake then it will be a hit in my book.

I heard that they dropped the 180 degree move (C stick), is this true? That sure was a handy little feature.

This franchise is becoming Tomb Raider-like in its stubborn refusal to update or evolve the gameplay in any significant manner.

I love the way it looks and I love the stories, but the stupid controls keep me from enjoying every single RE game.
Yeah the control is the only real problem like always. From what I have played so far it is better looking than the remake and the story line is pretty interesting. I like the cramped train, give an extra creepy feel. You can stand at the windows and watch trees fly by with the rain hitting the glass. You can still 180 turn, down on the stick plus the run button.

Your right Micah, if they can make the game look as good as it does you would think that after years of bitching Capcom could make the game control better. They just need to modify the Devil May Cry controls to a slower paced game and it would be gold.

I'm really glad Micah disliked Fellowship of the Ring, because otherwise I think I'd just follow him around, lemming-like, agreeing with just about every bloody thing he says.
At this point Capcom is just thumbing their noses at everyobody when it comes to the controls on RE and Onimusha, probably thinking that it makes the games unique.
The control is just fine as is.

What's this about an 2 game deal at EB, Dennis?
Actually I think it is more than that? Kevin Matchstick clued me in this morning. I think if you buy 2 GC games you get $15 dollar off, and if you buy 3 you get something like $20 off.
I think you get a $30 refund if you buy three games.

I don't mind the control but that is just because I'm used to it by now. That doesn't change the fact that it could easily be improved on.

Only Nintendo games.
Thanks for the info, is the offer only going on next week then?
Forgot to mention this earlier. One thing that has finaly changed is you can now drop items anywhere and they appear on your map screen. No more storage boxes and irritating back tracking due to poor item management.

Other than the fun of the original the first time through this is the best of the RE series so far. It has a lot of the same feel as 2 (my former favorite) with the best damn graphics on the Cube. The only reason to not pick this up is if you A: don't like survival horror games B: saving your cash for Metroid Prime.

As an added bonus...

I want this real bad, but my problem with the RE series is i'm always too afraid to play them. Call me a pussy or whatever you want...I KNOW they aren't that scary but the claustrophobic situations and the moans of the zombies-- and the surprise factor-- always make me jump out of my skin.

But yeah, this is gonna be one of the next games I buy, whenever that is.
My problem with the RE series is that I can't beat even the first game. I suck. In fact, I suck at the game almost as much as the controls suck.
There are a lot of windows and doors rattling, boards creacking, rain hitting windows and zombie noise from all over the place. This is easily the best sounding of the series so if the noises creep you out be warned. The only thing that always gets me is going into a room or hallway with open windows and knowing damn well that some crows are about to come crashing in. Fucking hate the crows.

The only one I never beat was Code Veronica. There is a point in the game about 3/4 the way through where the only save point has these poisonous moths outside the door that respawn all the time. I just couldn't stand having to dodge those things every time I wanted to save my game. Just put the game away and never once felt like picking it up again.
I didn't beat Veronica or the GC RE1 remake.
I'm really digging the simultaneous two player aspect. I was expecting it to just be a gimmick but it works well and makes some of the classically stupid RE puzzels a bit more fun. I'm liking this a lot, could have something to do with my GC being pretty worthless until Metroid next week though.
Buncha slackjawed faggots.

Seriously, you people should try to beat the RE games if you haven't already done so. At the very least to check out the cool endings.
Your pussies as big as a house, big as a house.
Code Veronica is practically the only I could never beat. Mainly, I get nervous on the whole "place the glass ball under the big dropping weight." Of course, I end up getting crushed in the end and if I do beat that part, I mess up on the running away from the Steve Monster part.
This game absolutely rocks. The switching system is so innovative and the fact that you can drop items is such a HUGE relief.

The story is also very interesting and doesn't seem like the retread that the previous games were.

Billy Coen kicks ass....
I just started playing it a couple of days ago, but I have to agree that the swiching system is just freakin' great. The fact that you're fully controlling two characters at once makes it so much more playable.
Just unwrapped my copy of RE Zero this morning. Have only had time to test the disc so far... I have to say, the opening CGI is nice, but that dark figure posturing on the hilltop with his face obscured is cheesy even by RE standards...
Is it still flip-screen, like Onimusha, or have they dared to create a genuine 3D environment?

As for previous RE games, I finished the first one, RE2 (and unlocked all the bonus stuff) and RE: Nemesis. I got a certain way into Code Veronica, and then found myself stuck after a save point with no health, no way of getting more health, and the only way forward was through a bunch of bastard beefy zombies who killed me in an instant. After much frustration, I just never bothered starting it again.

I really love the atmosphere and the feel of the games, but the flip-screens and rotate-and-run controls definitely need updating. If they worked really well, then I could understand saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", but there's so much room for improvement that laziness (or fear of fucking up) is the only sensible explanantion for Capcom's reluctance to move the series forwards.

It's still the same engine as the last RE game for the 'Cube, but it sure looks good. Seems like I heard rumors that the next RE is going to be true 3d, but it was probably just a rumor.

I've made it to the second disc in RE 0, and I like the ability to drop anywhere, but without the 'magic inventory boxes', you have to be very careful where you drop things. A couple more inventory slots would be very welcome. Any decent weapon and appropriate ammo take up HALF your freakin' inventory!
Not a rumor, from the look of things RE4 will be full 3D ala Silent Hill (it will also include partner zapping and perhaps a first person view mode). Guess it was bound to happen because of the numerous complaints about the style, which I personally never had a problem with. For the record I have played through every RE ('cept for Gun Survivor and Gaiden). I'm currently on the GC remake and holy fuck did they up the difficulty level by a few notches. I finished the original in one day and I'm barely out of the mansion in the remake, which I have since Christmas. Darned zombies kill you in two bites...

RE 0 looks cool too but from what I've read it really suffers from the lack of innovations. Even the zapping system and the ability to drop objects have flaws, and it also looks like a big rehash of the previous games in terms of story (aaaah, but a RE wouldn't be a RE without a countdown at the end now would it?) and puzzles. Still on my "to buy" list, if only because I'm a completist.
Blunt- have you run into "Lisa" yet? If not, then don't worry... YOU WILL.

hee hee hee! I'm so evil.

I did, this afternoon as a matter of fact. Needless to say I turned tail and ran faster than you can say "T-virus". Then there were the spiders.....*shivers* Then I turned off the GC because I wasted too much ammo and now I have to pick up right before the first encounter with the snake. I should have played on Easy first, had I known what was coming...

It really sucks when you have been using one or two rooms to stockpile everything and then have to move the whole lot to a new area. There is one big point in the game where I had an ass load of items filling up the main two rooms in the first mansion to capacity then had to move them all quite a long way to start the next major section of the game.
Yeah they help you out depending how you have them set. There AI is suprisingly good for a console game. They won't fire off 500 rounds at one zombie or wait to get hit a few times before firing the first shot. You can set them to do a few different things though.
After playing the GC remake, which I really liked and thought was well done, I thought this one was just not good. Some pretty boring monsters (frogs, lobsters, etc.) combined with a story that should have at least been sort of interesting to sit through (considering all that's come afterward) made for a not fun time in front of the old tv. "Resident Evil 0"? More like "Resident Evil Zero". Oh, wait...
It had zombie monkeys though Kevin! Zombie monkeys!
Those things were pretty cool, and the leech zombies were effective bad asses - but, leech zombies? And what about the millipede? Where the fuck were the zombies? They did the wrong drugs before their creative sharing sessions.
They did go a little crazy with the bug and animal themes this time out. I did like the sharks from the RE remake though.
