A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....

THE ENEMY WITHIN

It is a period of chaos for the Rebellion. Still engulfed in the fierce intergalactic war, the Alliance has decided to set up a new base of operations on the wasteland planet of Dantooine, while Luke Skywalker has returned to duty after his ordeal on Cloud City, still continuing his Jedi training on his own.

Meanwhile, the infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett has arrived on the desert planet of Tatooine, ready to deliver Han Solo to the crimelord Jabba the Hutt. However, the Empire is still eager to obtain the frozen Solo after Skywalker's escape from Bespin.

All of this, and more, is part of the Emperor’s plan as he makes his final move to take over the galaxy completely. As Palpatine’s scheme enters its crucial phase, Darth Vader prepares to depart the Imperial center of Coruscant for the forest moon of Endor, where a secret project is in construction that will spell doom for the Rebellion, and plunge the galaxy into darkness forever....

DAYBREAK PATROL
The Rebel Base, Dantooine

(ATTN: Gioman)

The blinding sun slowly rises above the wastelands of Dantooine, shining its light down on the craggy rock formations that hide the gigantic Alliance base and thankfully raising the temperature from the cold night as another day begins in the Rebellion.

As the sky lightens evermore, three small fighters escape from the main hangar bay of the base and scream out into the open. At the head of the trio is Wedge Antilles, whose experience has come a long way since his almost suicidal dogfighting in the early days of Rogue Squadron. Behind him, his wingmen: Derek “Hobbie” Klivian, a relatively fresh-faced human and a valuable member of the flight group, and Ven Renavo, a talented and determined pilot, who to this day is the only Twi’lek to serve in the Rebel Alliance.

As Antilles banks around the rocks and heads for the plains, he flicks his sensor grid on.

‘Keep your eyes open,’ the veteran states. ‘Any sign of activity, Imperial or not, needs to be checked out immediately.’

‘Roger, Rogue Leader,’ replies Hobbie.

‘We’ll split up. Hobbie, you take Sector-Four. Renavo, you have three. I’ll take one and two. We’ll rendezvous back at the base in an hour.’

As Wedge and Hobbie bank away, Ven kicks in his thrusters and heads for the desolate mountain range identified as Sector-Three.

Mos Eisley, Tatooine

(ATTN: Blunt, Katanga, Burke)

The com-machine beeps furiously as the message slowly downloads, bringing up a short paragraph of text inch-by-inch. As it stutters, the figure of SK-951 stands in front of it and squints, trying to read what text has come so far. As the message finishes, he sees what it is: a communication from the Alliance. However, he is immediately baffled by the message.

It tells him they have an operative in Mos Eisley, and that he is ready to meet the ex-Stormtrooper. However, the spying mission he will undertake is far more important, and dangerous, that he was expecting.

As he deletes the message, and walks out of the booth onto the dusty streets of the spaceport, he looks towards the cantina he has been told to go to, thinking about his job, and his mission: to shadow Boba Fett, the most infamous bounty hunter in the galaxy. He walks towards the cantina, and possibly, his fate.

-----------------------------------------------

In a smoky corner of Chalmun’s Cantina, a human sits, taking in the local aura of the resident drunks and barflies that can always be seen in this zoo of a cantina. Decklan Yuan Cross takes another swig of Leckti and stares around. He hates the place. It’s full of undesirables, and smells like dead acklay. However, it’s known as a haven for starpilots. And, as rumour would have it, Rebels. People who Deck is very eager to get into contact with.

He spots a man sitting at the bar, minding his own business. A long coat hangs from his tall frame. Deck can clearly see a heavy blaster strapped to his left thigh. But there’s something about this pilot that seems different.

Deck sees this as his chance. He walks over to the bar, and sits down. The barman, Wuher, gives an inhospitable grunt to the human. Deck orders a drink, and turns to the pilot. He feels like he’s intruding, but he must speak to him, if he’s ever going to join the Alliance. Suddenly, he is surprised as the pilot speaks to him.

‘You don’t look like a Stormtrooper.’

-----------------------------------------------

Inside Mos Eisley Station 94-11, Mei Sta’ar sits in a chair and stares at Captain Dancto, the commanding officer of Skirmish Co., a particularly notorious battalion of Imperial Sandtroopers. She has been sitting in his waiting room for two hours, awaiting his attention. Unlike the troops, he is wearing a standard officer’s uniform, and looks quite refined.

‘Your skills have been made aware to the Empire, Miss Sta’ar. I have been authorized to offer you a considerable amount for a job we think you would be ideal at carrying out.’

He stands up, and walks to a console.

‘We have just received word that a certain someone will be arriving on Tatooine tonight. That person will be carrying something of value to us, something we require back. We will pay you 15, 000 now, and a further 20, 000 once the quarry is delivered. We would prefer him alive, but under the circumstances, just proof of his death and the item he is carrying will do.’

As Mei waits for more details, a trooper enters the room, not wearing his helmet, but nevertheless looking slightly grubby. His armour is covered in dust from the plains.

‘The Slave I has just landed, Captain,’ he whispers to Dancto, some of his last words inaudible.

‘Very good, Corporal.’

As the trooper leaves, Dancto turns his attention back to Mei.

‘I can see by your face you are understandably curious. Six weeks ago, the infamous smuggler Han Solo was encased in Carbonite by Darth Vader after our Lord had captured the Rebel. He had originally planned to freeze a young pilot named Luke Skywalker, but his machinations did not go to plan, and Skywalker escaped. However, Solo was given to a bounty hunter, who was to take the smuggler to Jabba the Hutt, who had put a large price on his head. We need to find Solo again to help entrap Skywalker, so we must detain the bounty hunter who was hired. This is where you would come in.’

Dancto flips a switch, and a hologram of an odd-looking starship appears.

‘This is the Slave I, which as you are probably aware, is the property of Boba Fett. It has just been spotted over Mos Espa, which means he is on his way to Jabba’s palace. We need you to get to the palace, infiltrate it, and obtain Solo, and capture, or kill, the bounty hunter Fett. Of course, we will provide you with necessary equipment, should you need it. Are there any questions, Miss Sta’ar?’

IMPERIAL RENDEZVOUZ
The Skyrake, in orbit of Verdata IV

(ATTN: General Logan, Captucalyptus, Mr Skin)

The large bulk starship known as the Skyrake slowly escapes Verdata IV’s gravity pull, and engages its engines, taking it out of the system with a mighty roar.

Inside the cockpit, two figures sit, both a contrast to each other. Sitting in the captain’s chair is Oribuss, the Whiphid commander of the craft. Known to most as an intergalactic collector of game, the humanoid is as tall as a Wookie, but with quite the opposite in temperament.

Next to him sits DC-3, a four armed Navigation Droid, whose current duty is to helm the ship while Oribuss checks the ship’s computer systems on a datapad. Occasionally, she will make a quick diagnostic of the ship while keeping her auto-pilot engaged, usually followed by a quiet comment about her master’s flying, but her main function is to pilot the craft.

Behind the droid sits Lila E’chor, the Skyrake’s current mechanic. While normally residing in the engine room, Lila has stationed herself in the cockpit to advise her captain of the current status of the ship, as there has recently been some structural damage from one of Oribuss’ “items”. However, in all other ways, the ship is in top condition.

Standing just behind Lila, plugged into the environmental conditions console, is R2-X5, the mechanic’s personal droid. He whistles quietly as he goes about his business, occasionally swivelling his head towards the two humanoids in his own inquisitive nature.

As Lila prepares to give the final report, the ship’s sensors suddenly begin to go haywire. X5 begins to beep fiercely, as Oribuss checks the sensor grid, and looks out of the cockpit at the looming shape travelling above the Skyrake.

As Lila becomes increasingly nervous, the communications beacon begins to whine, as a message comes through.

‘This is the Imperial Star Destroyer Avenger. Power down and state your business in this sector immediately!’

As Lila looks at Oribuss, the Whiphid must decide whether to respond.

TALES OF THE EMPIRE
The Rebel Fleet

(ATTN: Laugharn)

Myron K. Nelor stares out of the small window in his quarters on the eighteenth deck of the Nebulon-B frigate, his console sitting quietly behind him on his desk. He had meant to be translating the day’s recollections. Recently, the fleet has been quiet, with most of its manpower having been sent to the base on Dantooine. However, he has just been informed of a move involving the Calamarians, who before now had only an underground presence in the Rebellion, and were understandably hesitant in helping the Alliance in full-view of Coruscant. But, now that the Empire is moving in, they see a window of opportunity to officially declare their services to the Rebels, so they can join the fleet before the Imperial Navy can come down on them. With the fleet a day away from Mon Calimari, Nelor is eager to see history made, the Alliance strengthened, and the black mark under his name wiped away.

Nelor sits at his console, and begins to write.

FORTUNE AND GLORY
Olana’s Casino, Dressen II

(ATTN: Poxy, Rath, Unicorn)

Jod Wotanna couldn’t believe it. He had always been a good gambler, especially at Sabacc, but this had beaten his life haul in one fell swoop. His eyes were almost bulging as the banker collected up the 200, 000 credit jackpot, a sullen look in his eye as if Wotanna had just handed him the death penalty. As Wotanna collects up his winnings, he turns, looking around somewhat suspiciously, and walks to a side counter, where a girl waits with a case.

‘Congratulations. Will you spending the night at Olana’s?’

----------------------------------------------

Inside the control room at the casino, Dran Olana stares at the video screen, watching the Twi’lek walk away from the table. He slumps back in his huge chair, and growls in basic to the two figures behind him, an ugly human named Stuum, and a large Trandoshan named Sheshurrek.

‘Stuum. I want that dealer killed. Now.’

‘Yes, sir.’

The man walks out of the office. Olana looks up at Sheshurrek.

‘You know what to do. I want subtlety. He doesn’t leave this planet, do you understand?’

----------------------------------------------

Deakon Cassidy was enjoying a quiet drink to himself when he heard the commotion. Looking around, he saw a huge crowd gathering around a Sabacc table... and a smiling Twi’lek proudly clutching handfuls of credits. Deakon hadn’t been on Dressen for long, but knew a chance when he saw one. After all, how much of a challenge can a Twi’lek be? However, he also knew the history of this Casino, and its owners. But, he knew he had to go for it.

He gulped down the rest of his drink, and walked to a nearby credit machine, calmly leaning against it and looking around at his surroundings.

DEPARTING FOR ENDOR
The Imperial Palace, Coruscant

(ATTN: Hellblazer)

The corridors of the upper echelons of the Imperial Palace are eerily quiet as Lord Darth Vader strides through them, approaching a huge door. Blocking the door are two of the Emperor’s Royal Guards, deadly bodyguards culled from the elite of the elite in the Imperial forces. They are not prepared to let Vader in.

‘The Emperor is not to be disturbed,’ one of them says to Vader.

‘I must see him before I depart,’ Vader replies. ‘You will stand aside.’

‘The Emperor has given his orders. He is not to be disturbed.’

Suddenly, the guard is thrown back against the door. A gagging sound emits from his throat as Vader slowly walks towards the guard, using the dark side of the Force to choke him. The guard is close to death when Vader drops him. As he catches his breath, the other one stands aside. The door swooshes open.

Vader walks into the dimly lit chamber, striding up a huge staircase. As he reaches the top, he walks for a few metres, and kneels. Looking down on him is Emperor Palpatine.

‘Rise, my apprentice.’

‘I am preparing to leave for Endor, my lord.’

‘Ah, yes, Endor. I trust your motivational skills will not be in question there.’

‘Of course not, my lord.’

‘Good.’

‘What is to be done about Skywalker?’

‘The young Jedi is no longer your concern at this time, Lord Vader.’

‘I understand. However, I will be making a stop at Drago. I have some business to attend to.

‘So be it. Leave. Report to me when you have arrived at the sanctuary moon.’

‘As you wish.’

-----------------------------------------------

Terok Vega stared around as he waited on the landing pad, the gigantic Lambda-class Shuttle standing before him. The cold Coruscant night bit hard, even with the heavy duster he wore to protect him, but he didn’t care much. His mind was on other things, notably, his latest mission. He was surprised at being given what seemed to be an easy task, but understood the need for his quarry to be eliminated immediately.

Hearing the loud footsteps, he quickly turned around to see the tall black shape of Darth Vader heading towards him, his cloak billowing in the wind, with six Stormtroopers following him. As he stopped in front of Vega, the troops dispersed and headed towards the shuttle. Vader watched them for a second, and then looked down at the bounty hunter.

‘Your ship is completely fuelled, and your engines fully repaired. Our last report places Nelor on a ship at the forefront of the fleet. The Rebels themselves were last seen near Lahsbee. I trust your fee was... acceptable?’

Recoiling from his initial shock, Decklan turns to face the man.

The Skyrake, in orbit of Verdata IV

Lila fidgeted in her set. She tightened her webgear and snugged down the restraint harness that would hold her in the chair. Her lovely, delicately boned face went at least five shades paler. "I have a bad feeling about this." She fingered her hydrospanner and waited for the world to end from the whine of a turbolaser.

FORTUNE AND GLORY

"Why yes, my sweet," Wotanna replies smoothly. "Suite 3B-9 awaits the victor and his spoils," he adds with a look clearly indicating the girl could join the list of spoils if she wishes. He flashes a toothy grin. "2100 hours should be an ideal time to find me in a most celebratory mood." He finishes gathering his earnings and struts off happily....

Until he rounds the corner and disappears from her sight. His grin vanishes, and his eyes dart nervously. He pats himself down -- credits, small holdout blaster, ticket on the earliest shuttle at 1950 hours, and his sabaac deck.

By the time that little vixen rats to her boss and arranges for my untimely demise, I'll be on the next ship to Coruscant, he thinks smugly.

Deakon smiles as he watches the Twi'lek talk to the pretty little thing with the great posterior.

As soon as the Twi'lek rushed out of the casino, Deakon headed over to the girl. She had a dreamy, far away look in her eye.

Waving a long, tapered hand in front of her, he said "Miss, did that man offer you a romantic evening after walking away with a great deal of your casino's money?"

She nods.

"Well, sweetheart--and you do have a sweet heart if you fell for his schtick--that man is a con artist. Like myself, though I prefer the art of piracy. But don't worry, I'm here on vacation. Tell you what. Why don't you inform your boss of that gentleman's transgression with a rigged Sabbac deck, and then meet me at Boarding Pad 1135. This planet looks beautiful from the air at night, and my ship is the perfect place to observe. There are also other...accomidations, should you like to spend the night."

He brushes her shoulder.

"Got some space dust on you. Mama always said to make a wish."

And he blows it across the casino.

FORTUNE AND GLORY

Sheshurrek steps out into the main floor of the crowded casino, scanning the room for his prey. He spots Wotanna ducking out of the casino, and grunts an order to Stuum to head out the door and tail the Twi'lek, instructing the human to radio in when he got a lock on the gambler's docking bay.

He fixed his cold eyes on the woman that Wotanna had been talking to. First things first, he thought to himself as he began to stride towards the woman. However, he's cut off from his task as a man appeared at the woman's side. Shesurrek stepped to the side out of the aisle, and pretended to scan the room for unwary gamblers, keeping an eye on the smooth-talking human at the same time.

These two had to be connected, there was no doubt in his mind. He tapped his earphone quickly, just to make sure it was in working order and muttered into his receiver.

"Looks like we have a team on our hands, Stuum. Give me your position. I don't think splitting up was such a good idea."

Mei breathed in deeply, shifting noticeably in her seat, her silver jumpsuit shimmering slightly in the dim office light.

Mei leaned forward and said, "Let me get this straight. You want me, Mei Sta'ar, to relieve Boba Fett, the most dangerous bounty hunter in the galaxy, of a carbonite encrusted 'Han Solo,' the Corellian smuggler who made the Kessel run in under 12 parsecs <Dancto nodded>, as well as bringing Fett in, how shall I say this... dead or alive?"

Dancto smile was empty. "That's correct, my dear. We think your unique... ummm...attributes will be effective against Fett. As a fringe bounty hunter, you will be in the ideal position to infiltrate Fett's... personal space. It has been rumoured that Fett is a man underneath all of that Mandalorian armor."

Mei gave Dancto a lopsided grin. "Well, you're only paying me for some dog-fighting, and there's no way Fett can penetrate my shields." She forced her smile wider.

"Quite true," said Danto. "Will you accept this job and serve your Emperor?"

Mei stiffened. "I live to serve our Emperor. Thank you for the opportunity." She hoped it sounded convincing.

Dancto glided through the rest of his speech. "Your 15,000 credits are with your... ahem, antique protocol droid. Will you require anything else before you begin?"

"No... wait, yes, I'll need a ship and a pilot, in case Fett decides to go off-world with Solo rather than delivering him to the Hutt."

"Absolutely, Miss Sta'ar. I'll make sure your droid is issued a comlink with a direct connection to one of our best pilots." Dancto quickly types a few strokes into his console. "Yes, this will work out nicely."

Mei lowered her head slightly. "Captain." She gracefully exited the office. Once she was out of sight, Mei couldn't stop shaking. Taking on the legendary Boba Fett was a death sentence. But she had accepted the job... nothing to do but try to complete her task without getting vaporized. All right, she thought. I can do this, I hope. Now where is El-K?

~~~~
Dancto reclined gently in his chair. He whispered softly to himself, "What a waste. Certainly a woman like that...!" He brushed those thoughts out of his mind, but Mei's gorgeous smiling face, her sweet smell, returned again and again. Finally, Dancto pressed the comm button. "Get me..."
The hudled masses gathered in the streets of Mos Eisley were like roadblocks to the man with a purpose. SK-951 lowered the natural pitch of his voice to that Imperial authoritative tone.
"Clear away. Watch it. MOVE." he barked at the jawas as they obscured his path with offers of bargains.
The cantina was packed. SK did a visual scan of the area. Mos Eisley was seeing a glut of Imperials since that ship blasted it's way out of docking bay 94. He pulled his hood over his head and made sure his armor was not visible from beneath his tunic.
He entered the cantina and the droid detector hummed it's approval of his presence. He moved to the bar offering a nod to Wuher, whom he had served as a bouncer on a number of occassion. He surveyed the patronage, the usual scum were present. Smugglers, pirates, bounty hunters, mutt species...circumventors of the Empire who must be crushed to pave the way for order. He inhaled sharply catching himself thinking thoughts he is certain were programmed. He was different now. Every day was better.
The freshly spaceborne Skyrake came to a halt abruptly, engines fluttering down to a quiet hum. The collossal "floating musuem" was still.
Oribuss shifted uncomfortably in his chair. The fur-covered owner rubbed his hands together, trying to shrug off the ironic image that forced its way into his subconscious. The stout game hunter chuckled nervously as he pictured himself stuffed and mounted for the Emperor.
"No reason to worry," the gruff voice consoled his crew in clear Basic. "Dee-cee, shut the engines down. Off!"
Oribuss looks to his new companion, smiling a bit beyond Whiphid tusks to the petrified Lila. "There's nothing to worry about. This is just procedure." His tone indicated that the collector wanted to believe his words himself. His chair drifted into position near the communicaitons panel, and he dropped a worn headset into place around his large cranium.
As Oribuss prepared to switch on and answer the query, he offered one final instruction to Lila. "If your astromech is doing anything... questionable, you had better warn him against it. We should be able to get out of this without trouble."
The Whiphid eyes X5 suspiciously. "You are a member of my crew... I hope you are acting like it, stumpy!"
He snapped the comm switch on, winced, then offered his, very proper reply, "Avenger, this is Imperial Civilian Vessel Skyrake. Engines are offline as instructed, transmitting registry information now."
Oribuss slumps in his seat and sighs deeply as the headseat is removed. DC-3 oversees the transmission of the full cargo manifest in pristine order to the Avenger. DAYBREAK PATROL
Ven's X-Wing banks to the left, as he approaches the last leg of his patrol sector. The patrol itself has been uneventful, but it's a welcome change of scenery. He had been out of the flight schedule a few days while his X-Wing went through its scheduled maintenence, but he was back in the skies.
His flight group was still flying a man short, but Wes Janson was helping to calibrate the targeting systems of the base's new turbolaser emplacements, which were activated just this morning.
Ven's sensors detected an anomaly on the planet's surface, a few degrees to port. He cut engine power, and allowed himself to freefall a few hundred meters before switching on his repulsorlifts. There appeared to be some movement, and as he got closer, he saw what appeared to be a group of three, maybe four medium-sized droids, each of them stopping at regular intervals, either to extract soil samples, or to conceal themselves.
It looked like an un-manned scouting expedition, perhaps to study the local ecology, or to scout for possible supply cache locations, except he didn't remember being told to expect this out on his patrol.
Better to be safe than sorry. He heard the horror stories of the Battle of Hoth.
Ven clicked on his comm, and toggled it to Rogue Squadron's secure channel.
"Leader, Five. I've discovered a group of droids about ten clicks from the base, just short of the mountain range. Looks like their scouting the area, collecting data. Checking in to confirm that it's a group of ours."
As Lila finishes her protest, he chirps sharply in agreement, then trills and clicks softly, doing best to look and sound innocent.
X5 instantly dismisses the idea of piggy-backing on the Skyrake’s transmission. Only the most inexperienced tech would miss that. And, with the Skyrake’s engines offline it wouldn’t give them enough time.
No, X5 needed a better way into the Avenger computer. He continued to search the schematics.
"As for you--Stumpy...," the Whiphid nods to DC-3 to deactivate the node that the astromech is plugged into. The now-idle transimission channel is quickly closed. Orbiuss cliks a button on the armrest, sending his chair gliding over next to his assistant.
Vega stood tall and looked directly into the reddish lenses of Vader's helmet. He didn't like the fact that he was apparently being sent after a journalist and he liked the fact that the Empire was apparently intending to use him as a hired killer even less. But, that was the first rule of bounty hunting: If you take the money, you do the job. He'd taken the money, but he was still going to make damn sure before he did this particular job.
"Perfectly acceptable." Vega had heard enough stories about the legendary temper of the being standing before him that he wanted to do nothing to incur that wrath. He thought he was doing a good job of keeping the intimidation he felt out of his voice, but he wasn't one hundred percent sure.
Vega paused, and decided one more risk was worth it. "Shall I bring this man back to you, Lord Vader? Or shall I handle this problem at my own discretion?"
"Certainly," comes a single word of compliance from the collector, following the reply by snapping the communications panel back off. "Deecee, get us... drinks."
Oribuss turns back to X5, now smiling a bit. Though rushed, he is genuine as he addresses the droid. "I know you are trying to help... if you think Lila might want you with her, you should get moving."
He sits in wait for the arrival, figeting with a large ring of bone necklace.
Imperial Rendezvous
X5 warbles softly at Oribuss, then rolls forward and plugs into a dataport next to the Whiphid. In front of Oribuss, a small translator window pops up on the Skyrake’s Nav panel.
<<<Gracious, but unnecessary. I have bar service experience. If the ship has a standard Halo Tray Server setup, then I will see to the drinks. Where would you like them served?>>>
DEPARTING FOR ENDOR
Inwardly, Vega breathed a sigh of relief. On the outside, he kept his face impassive and professional.
"Understood. I'll inform you as soon as I have him."
Without waiting to be dismissed, Vega turned away and began to walk to the other end of the spaceport, where the Lilah waited for him, fueled and ready to go.
FORTUNE AND GLORY
Jod Wotanna continues on his way to the landing platform, taking the most circuitous route that still gets him there quickly.
Sheshurrek cursed to himself, and hissed into the mic. "With a pile of money like that, he's probably heading to the docks. Get over there as soon as you can and look out for a Twi'lek. I'll be there in 10."
He looked around warily, making sure that no one noticed his conversation as he strides over to where Deakon was conversing with the drug dealer. He stood behind the man with his massive arms folded over his chest.
"Excuse me, sir. I would have a word with you."
Recruitment
Decklan is a bit startled by the stranger's reaction. He shrugs and, still drinking, scans the room hoping to find someone belonging to the Rebellion.
RECRUITMENT
Mei pulled the hood up quickly on her tattered poncho. The non-human stench of Mos Eisley assaulted her. So many unpleasant odors...
She made her way quickly to the Hotel Kandar, eschewing the lift for the stairs. Room 327 was very close to the stairway exit. She rapped twice on the door, got the accompanying double beep on her subcutaneous sensor, and pushed open the door.
El-K rushed over, if a human-shaped protocol droid could ever be described as rushing. "Milady, I'm so happy to see you. This desert air is frying my circuits. Will we be leaving soon?"
Mei looked at the droid wistfully. "They have killed us El-K. They have sent me after the Fett, with no backup. Even worse, he's here on this dirtwater planet.... I guess it doesn't really matter where you die...dead is dead..." Mei trailed off. She sighed, straightened, and began to focus on the room itself.
"El-K, we've got a transport to catch. Let's get moving." Mei began packing the few items the stormies had dropped off.
El-K muttered silently to himself, "We're doomed."
Cassidy turns to the lizard-man.
"I'll be with you in ONE second, my good man."
Sheshurrek moves to put a huge tri-fingered hand on the man's shoulder.
"No, you'll come with me NOW."
Cassidy rolls his eyes at the young girl.
"I must be departing, dear. Perhaps we will meet again...in our dreams."
He leans forward and kisses her on the lips, then turns to face the Trandoshann....
...with his thin vibro-blade firmly set against the man's throat.
"Blast away, my good man. Your head will hit the ground before the bolts enter my body."
"Now...what can I do for you?"
DAYBREAK PATROL
"Roger, General. Rogues, form up."
Ven snap-rolled his X-Wing to starboard, and quickly joined up with Wedge and Hobbie. The trio of X-Wings streaked northward as Ven focused his attention on his long range sensors.
"Leader, Five. I'm picking up something dead ahead at 15-20 clicks. Whatever it is, it's bigger than a starfighter. Should I request for reinforcements?"
"Negative, Five. They won't be able to reach us in time to help with anything, and we can always hit-and-fade if it's a hostile force. Maintain course."
Ven clicked his comm in acknowledgement and hoped his suggestion was taken as a positive sign of initiative, and not cowardice. Ven shifts his shields to full front as the unknown contact looms closer...
Grimacing a bit at his slow reflexes (nice auto, Rath...), Sheshurrek looked down at the man, and smiled.
"I'm going to have to ask you to leave the premises, sir. I can either escort you out quietly, or throw your ass on the curb. Which would you prefer?"
Fortune and Glory
"Good sir, I am harming no one. I was merely informing this young woman that there was a criminal who just left. If you go now, you might be able to catch him.
I am on vacation, and a paying customer of this fine establishment."
He looked at the young woman and winked. She swooned.
"But...if you cannot stomach a man of my character in this establishment, then I suppose I will have to help you find the true criminal."
Slightly taken aback by the man's statement, Sheshurrek raised an eyebrow. "You want to help?"
He stepped back a bit, away from the blade and looked from Cassidy to the woman and then shrugged.
"You aren't exactly on my good side right now, but I could use some help."
He cracked his knuckles for emphasis as he flashed a reptilian smile. "But if you try and knife me again, you're going home with a handful of broken bones."
Deakon slides the blade back into its scabbard at his side and spreads his arms wide.
"Let's go."
Sheshurrek turned and strode towards the entrance to the casino, moving quickly to make up for lost time. He radioed in to Stuum.
"Stuum, are you there? Give me your position. I've got a sidekick now, and I'm heading your way."
post #49 of 51
Sheshurrek paused a minute as Stuum relayed the coordinates to him. He nodded, then started moving out into the street, turning back to Cassidy and grunting.
"He heading toward Docking Bay 12, it's about six blocks from here. We'd better book it."
With that, he started moving through the crowds and traffic as quickly as possible, every so often looking back to make sure Cassidy was keeping up.
Cassidy WAS keeping up, indeed, he was right by the lizard-man's side. The "sidekick" comment brusied his ego.
"Sidekick? I believe you are ill informed as to the person who has chosen to accompany you on your mission. I am Commander Deakon Cassidy, space pirate extraordinare. Why, I'm practically Tatooine's most famous native."
He looks at the big guy.
"And let's take my ship. She's faster than the Millenium Falcon, without a doubt."
