Star Wars Epic Duels

Ok, so my friends and I indulged in our geekness this weekend. After viewing AOTC late friday, we all got up saturday morning and ate breakfast while watching looney tunes. During the commercials, they showed one for Star Wars Epic duels, a game which they depicted three 10 year olds playing. Naturally, we got excited and went out and bought this little bad boy.

After 7 continuous hours of playing it, I proudly recommend it to all. It is not just for 10 year old as Milton Bradley recommends. This thing was fun! Plus it comes with figurines of all the major players including episode 2 characters like Jango and Dooku.

So in conclusion, don't let the commercial fool you, this game is for all ages.

I'm not sure about Epic Duels, but I did go out and buy the new D20 SW handbook. A few people around here really seem to dig it, and it wouldn't be too tough to take a break from an evening's D&D gaming to fry a few stormtroopers. One good thing about the overwhelming spread of the D20 system, it isn't difficult to try a different genre now and then.

Damn you, Imperator GAC. Now I'm inspired to give this game a purchase and spin myself. With my oldest daughter now EIGHT(!!!!!!) years old the fam spends mucho time with board games on rainy days.

The "Life" STAR WARS game looks cool, too. You basically play for which path of The Force you'll take.

LOL, we were contemplating also gettin that Life game! But we only walked with Duels. It's great. Very easy to learn but it's really diverse. You get decks kinda like CCG's and every character has unique devastating attacks. You get Sideous or Yoda with cool force powers and Maul or Dooku with great melee cards. Lots of surprise attacks and couterattacks too which had us screaming at each other.

Along with the little figures, moving your characters around in a little battle really gets your imagination going. It was only $24.95 so we didn't even take a real dollar hit for it. Very much worth the money.

I was looking at that Epic Duels thing. Looks neat.

However, I'm looking to get into Star Wars RPGing--is the new system any good?

And what are the good star wars sims on the computer out there?

As far as Star Wars RPGing goes I would strongly recommend finding a copy of the West End Games sourcebooks. They're out of print, but if there's a gaming shop anywhere around you they should have copies. I figure it's worth it to dig them up, because, IMO, shoehorning the Star Wars universe (or for that matter, anything that isn't straight-up no-deviation Tolkien-style fantasy) into the D20 system is a fucking terrible idea.

I have the main guide but I hate it.
