Turmoil continues to erupt in the battered city of Coldstone. Rumors of a brooding gang war, coupled by rampant police corruption have heightened this tension.

The waning influence of the local mafia has been revitalized by the presence of Don Paolo diRossi. His struggle to forge a profitable machine out of the Coldstone crew have already seen results.

HEIST
-Cafe Across from International Bank and Trade-
(ATTN: Roman, Frank, Virgil, Bruno, Romeo, Chelsea)

The culmination of this effort lies in an impending bank job. After a week of planning, the daring mission is scheduled to take place at daybreak.

Leading the effort is brooding mob lieutenant Roman Carvaggio, pointman for the heist.

Crowd control is to be overseen by the charismatic Virgil "Razor Face" Abrizza.

Frank Tobiasi faces the daunting task of controlling Chelsea, the bank employee that he first wooed into his bed, and now needs for the information. She has so far been a passive prisonser.

Rounding out the crew are two drivers, Romeo and Bruno diRossi. The former's job is to provide the a public distraction elsewhere, while the latter's job is to pick up the crew and depart with the expected 1.5 million dollars in transfer certificates and cash expected in the vault this morning.

Having studied the blueprints, as well as possessing Chelsea's access codes and knowledge of managerial staff, the crew waits in the cafe outside the bank. Bruno circles the area in an unmarked van, Romeo is in place waiting for the page from Roman to begin the distraction.

(PLAYERS: Contact Katanga/Roman or myself if you have any questions PRIOR to acting. Especially anything that could jeopardize this heist.)

LION'S DEN
-Latish Brown's Safehouse-
(ATTN: Othello, Latisha, Tivoli)

Meanwhile, the lone mercenary Othello Redman, has set off on his own, in an attempt to locate the errant Danny Tivoli, a mafia turncoat to whom Othello granted mercy. Tivoli was to head to the home of Latisha Brown--a contact of Othello's--and wait.

Upon arrival, Redman is not altogether surprised to hear the news. Latisha quickly offers the details of Tivoli's stay. The fairly nice and respectful gentlemen was disturbed by something he saw on television, and was gone the next morning. Latisha's car, equipped with an unseen onboard tracking system, was taken. She had waited to report the loss until Othello arrived.

PROTECTION PT. II
-Murray Motors-
(ATTN: Paulie, Julian)

In past weeks, the loss of Coldstone's former Don, Marco Capella, left mafia earnings severely weakened.

Thus Julian diRossi and Paulie "The Jester" DiVialoso were assigned to rebuild the once flourishing racketeering operation.

After a successful week of "reminding" their customers of the protection they sorely needed, the pair now finds themself in dire straits.

While "convincing" Effram Murray that his vast car dealership needed their "protection", Paulie and Julian were set upon by nearly twenty armed Triads, pinned in the center of Murray's large car lot.

Prior to having his prized BMW compacted in a makeshift "crash up derby", Julian managed to lift the universal key set from one of the sales people, thus allowing them access to the lockbox on any car in the lot. Likewise, Paulie managed to place three universal breathing holes into the back of the crooked salesman, allowing Murray access to any demon in Hell.

Currently, the two have taken cover between a pair of Volvo's, clips emptied at the Triad opposition. Though there isn't much to see through the tinted glass of the vehicles, the two can sense the Triad goons closing in.

RALLY
-Coldstone Civic Center: Steps-
(ATTN: Dino, Forbes, Avery, Palooka, Commisioner Graves)

Coldstone's elite have turned out for a morning ceremony, involving the appointment of Orville Graves as new police commissioner. On the giant marble steps of the Civic Center, the masses have turned out to welcome a new "War on Corruption" in their police force.

On the platform are numerous public officials, and prominent citizens such as Avery Steadman, foremost of Coldstone's businessmen. At his side is Jimmy Palooka, a former weapons dealer serving as Avery's aide.

The men stand to applaud as the governor bestows rank upon the commissioner. As the two shake hands, the crowd roars with approval.

Mingled into the crowd is Forbes McCready, a rogue assassin with interests not yet fully revealed. As the ceremony continues, he watches with an emotionless eye.

Carefully placed in the distance, stands Dino Morinelli. The mafia gunman assigned to monitor Forbes' and his movements. A less than exciting task for Dino, but one where he might finally distinguish himself, earning credit in the eyes of Don diRossi.

Lion's Den

Othello loves the luxurious studio that houses his paramour. It is his sanctuary. The apartment is divided into quadrants. A tatami covered floor with a variety of bags and dummies and a rack of melee weapons dominates the soutwest corner. The northwest houses a hi-tech gourmet kitchen. The southeast is screened off with silk partitions in a jungle print. The sunken living room in the northeast comtains state of the art entertainment gear and computer hardware.

Latisha comes to her feet and towards her man as he comes out of the bedroom hidden by the screens. The body under her skintight black jeans and the black silk shirt tied under her firm breasts still make him weak. "Thanks for watchin' out for m'man, baby. I expected he'd bolt at some point." He sweeps the 5'10" woman into his powerful embrace and nuzzles her coffee colored skin. "Wish I could stay but you know how it is."

She pushed him back. "Uh-huh. Look I've heard that before and it don't play. When you gonna put a ring on this finger?"

He puts his hands up in front of his chest. "Foxy, baby, don't be this way."

Her fingers dance like butterflies. "Don't baby me, nigga. Look you will marry me and you will straighten up and fly right or this shit is over."

"Ok, OK, look. I promise as soon as I finish this job we will go to a beach someplace warm. This man promised me a chunk of business out west. Casinos, resorts, it's a management gig. No more bullets. Promise." He opens his arms and she snuggles into his chest.

"OK. But one more month of this or I use that Python you gave me."

"When I get back I'll give you another." They kiss and Othello heads out the door. He gets to the street and cranks the titanium Lamborghini Murcielago. The engine roars and the electronics package comes to life. "OK you little Italian bitch, where are you?" He looks at the GPS and locks in the beacon. The muscular Italian car glides into traffic.

McCready would have liked to gone on the heist with Roman and his boys-he still needed to apologize to that charming gentlemen with the facial scarring-but his recovering leg wound would have made him less than an asset.

So it was that he found himself here, outside Coldstone Civic Center, on one of the coldest days he could remember since coming to the city sixteen years ago. Moments like these made him wish he had a head of hair-the cordoroy fedora he wore barely compensated for the 90% of heat loss.

Oh, well. At least the new jacket Roman gave him as a sign of good will and a reminder of what he asked-"to keep his eyes open." Although in their many years together, Roman was always the better observer, while Forbes the better disguiser, McCready had made up his mind to try and help the Capella/diRossi family without getting into trouble.

So he stood amongst the crowd-fuckin' grannies and their kiddies pissed off by the warehouse showdown, the Chinatown incident and his little stunt in the park-and watched his old boss shake hands with the new Comissioner. Avery certainly was a charming motherfucker, but something in those blue eyes of his said that Avery was less than pleased at this appointment.

He continued to watch, and to listen, eyes sweeping back and forth across the stage and the crowd from under a pair of red-tinted sunglasses, fully aware of the man called Dino sent to monitor him. He didn't have a problem with this. Roman was protecting his friend, and at the very least, an "investment." It was what the old man did.

McCready needed a cigarette badly...

Roman paces the floor watching the time and inhaling cigarettes. Every ten paces he stops sips at an espresso and returns to walking the floor, dulling the knot in his stomach.

Underneath his trenchcoat are the tools for this job. A black stealthsuit with kevlar point-blank body armor, two silenced Beretta's that are traceable back to a dead man in New Jersey, one Mp5, 6 clips of ammo, 4 lbs of c-4, 3 stun grenades and 3 smoke grenades.

Roman eyes Chelsea and wonders if Tobiasi is fucking her. If so he might have to put a bullet in her if Tobiasi can't. So many problems with jobs like this. Unknown variables all the planning in the world can't cover.

Roman stalks over to Frank Tobiasi and pulls him aside out of earshot of the girl.

"You have a leash on her?" Roman asks.

Frank winces. He isn't happy at the comment, and he gets Roman's tone immediately.

He puts his arm around his neck, "I know this isn't what you signed on for, but you've got more balls than the lottery, kiddo..." Roman offers Virgil a cigarette before continuing, "Crowd control is the most important thing, I'm going to be counting on you to keep Joe The Rent-A-Cop from going Bruce Willis on us. Be scary."

'Chelsea... please, don't think that I did this just for the plans. I'll be honest, because I don't like lying, especially to you... it was my first intention. But now, they're not the only thing on my mind that's important. Christ, I don't think they're even the highest. I sound like a stupid fuck talking like this after a week, but... Virgil gladly takes the cig Roman is offering him. He doesn't mind the joke about his face coming from him. He kinda sees him as a father figure. He lights the fag up and takes a deep breath on it.

Chelsea smiles to Frank, a bit surprised at the mixture of emotions she feels. She shakes off his hand, attempting to be business-like.

"I am going to start my shift. You can stop by and finally open that account."

As the crew crosses the street, casually spaced out as though not one clump of people, Roman eyes Bruno passing by as scheduled. The slim getaway driver nods courteously to them as they travel the crosswalk in front of him.

Roman, Frank, Virgil and Chelsea are clear on the far side. The light is green, Bruno moves on.

Somewhere, not too far out, Romeo waits anxiously to start the party.

The bank seems new inside. Early morning customers slide bewteen the glass doors. One of the tellers has put on fresh coffe, a rich scent dangles in the air.

Sitting near the entrance in one of the seldom-used cushioned seats is one of the security team. He spreads a paper open nonchalantly.

The lobby is a long rectangle, running lengthwise perpendicular to the entrance. (From the door to the teller windows is the shorter length. From the left wall to the right is the longer stretch, as seen by those facing the teller windows) There are several cameras panning the floor, sweeping over the bullet-proof teller windows innocently.

Business has yet to truly begin this morning. Though men in blue uniforms and caps exit the back area (upper left corner of the rectangle, as facing the tellers windows), as though having just made a delivery. They proceed up the stairwell to the far right of the long lobby.

Redman carefully eyes the GPS tracking window, driving slow enough not to arouse suspicion, but fast enough to make the most of his time.

The blip moved for about 15 full minutes, until coming to a stop in front of a large hotel--the Scarlet Arms.

This hotel is an old, but classic part of the downtown landscape. Large concrete columns rising up to meet expensive brick and maroon metal. 16 stories by Othello's count.

The lack of surface parking suggests more space underneath. With a cautious eye, Redman leads his vehicle down into the first basement of a three level parking garage.

Prowling carefully, so as not to arouse suspicion, he turns each corner, slolwy working his way down.

Upon reaching level B3, he glides into a parking spot near the exit ramp. This area is mostly vacant, with a "Construction" marker and orange tape blocking off a large portion of the unseen parking area.

At the edge of the closed portion, he makes out Latisha's car. Fits the GPS signal to a tee. The vehicle is parked, ignition off, and apparently unmanned.

(ATTN: Forbes, Dino)

As the events unfold on the steps above, Dino sighs. There's no doubt some high-cost assassin doesn't see him in the crowd.

But that didn't matter. He had a job to do, and for once, he could just sit and watch and no harm would come to him.

As Comissioner Graves is seated, Avery steps to the podium to speak. With the slightest hint of European accent, he addresses the gathering, "It is with great pleasure that I welcome the new commissioner to this position."

He pauses for slight applause.

"An uncompromising beacon in our fair city, letting all elements of the criminal society know once and for all, where we stand."

"My gift," he continues after more cheers die down, "My gift to the Commissioner is a fleet of 10 new police helicopters, each equipped with the latest in crimefighting technology."

A canvas is pulled clear on one end of the makeshift stage. It reveals a highly-protected new design, a sleek black vehicle with dual blades, and an impressive compliment of weapons under each wing.

"Use these Talons as though your own clwas, to swoop down on the criminal vermin of this town!"

Despite the melodramatic content, his speech seems to have reached the people. The Commissioner rises, bowing toward Steadman.

These machines were, as far as his years in the IRA and lifting banks with Roman could tell him, perfect.

Perfect...and operational.

The freshly lit cigarette dropped to the ground, hissing in a puddle at Forbes' feet. (Gameplayer note: Water, not urine)

He began to push his way through the crowd towards the police officers protecting the stage. He hoped Dino would see him, and follow. He needed to know the status on the bank job. If these things were operational, and Roman's crew didn't know about them...

Lion's Den
3rd Level Parking Basement, Scarlet Arms Hotel
(ATTN: Othello)

Taking care not to be heard, Othello happens upon a startling meeting.

Several yards away, beyond the debris of the underground construction, he makes out his man. Danny "Three Rings" Tivoli. The turncoat was leaning against a sleek silver limousine. Carrying on conversation with...

None other than Linh Lao herself. whatever the two were discussing, Redman's attention was drawn to a third party. Stepping into view was...

Weasel.

What the hell were they all doing here? If the hotel suddenly collapsed, a lot of people's problems would be over.

But for the time being, Othello could only listen. He was too far out to do much, and the perimeter of Triads and Weasel's good-for-nothings would have made escape too much of a challenge.

He listened instead, picking up the tail end of their conversation.

"We tighten our grasp," Lao begins, "and crush our enemy."

Tivoli, nervous, speaks, "Let me get this straight... you want me to stick my head out again, let the rest of the paisans come running... and pray I don't get shot?"

Lao silently unsheathes a longsword behind her back.

Unaware, the turncoat continued, "I could just split town... I could just..."

In an instant, the woman's blade is at his throat. "There is nowhere you can run that I cannot find you. And if you want a chance at freedom again, you will do as you are told!"

Weasel laughs, like aa snake-oil salesman. "Bring them to us. The Italians want you dead, and Darky's sweet on you. Throw in Professor Headcase, and we'll have cleaned up all our loose ends."

Tivoli eventually nods, careful not to knick himself on the sharp sword. Lao slowly pulls away, as if longing to end him. She then turns her back to the thug, disgusted with his honorless ways. "If you were Triad, you would be dead already."

She appraoches the limo, as the passenger in the back cracks the window. "We are done here," she says politely to the mystery guest inside. A moment later she enters the other side of the vehicle.

Weasel and his men enter a series of three trademark black sedans across the way. As the groups prepare to leave, a panic stricken Tivoli makes his way back to his "borrowed" car.

Towards Othello's position, still unaware.

As I see it we have one of two options. Leave now, and perhaps provide Roman's team with some needed cover when these monster eagles do arrive, or we can wait and hear what the squak box over there says. Either way, we are going to need some form of transportation fairly shortly. Now. I have given this speech several times already, but let me tell you, as we have been through Hell together-though it was called Chinatown-and perhaps you will understand. You can trust me. I want revenge, but I would not betray Roman, my friend and comrade in arms, for even a free and united Ireland. It is our duty, not only to ourselves, but to our friends and our employers, and to the ones we love. For there was once a pair of brown eyes that waited once for me."

He sighs, his breath visible on the morning air.

"I ramble, but that is all gone now. My point is, we must work together like the warriors we are. The gladiators. The men. There is something behind this all..I can feel it. And wherever black is worn, will a terrible beauty be born."
He reaches over casually with his hand.

"Can I trust you, mate? Are we men?"

He smiles.

The tension, unbeknownst to the employees and patrons, is mounting. Roman watches the entrance as the door parts and a well-dressed man, early 30’s, enters. Chelsea gives Roman the signal by checking her watch; this is the bank manager. Roman’s senses shift gears the way he was taught, a rough geometry of the man is delineated and picked apart in his mind. Quickly he discerns the man, one Arthur Winters, is cocky and arrogant. His stride is determined and he ignores the gazes of his employees as if they were meaningless to him; they most assuredly are. Winters’ suit, tie, watch, shoes; all the very best money can afford. He’s trim, fit, slightly tan; probably golf on the weekends, light gym work.

Paulie exhales, and the car crashes to the ground with a painful thud. Things have broken underneath the vehicle.

Paulie looks up to see that they are now clear of the car lot, next door. And parked (permanently) in front of 'Ray's Gun and Ammo'.

It turned out to be the sunrise coming over the building, but by then Julian had jimmied the lock open.

No sooner had a squad of Triads found the gate through the fence, and were upon the pair as they entered, firing into the glass front of the closed supply store with their machingeguns.

Heist
International Bank and Trade Building
(ATTN: Roman, Frank, Virgil, Chelsea)

Virgil perpares himself. Crowd control is not yet needed, until Roman gives the word. But he keeps a vigilant eye on the 2.... now three security guards. If it comes down to it, Abrizza is going to have to make three well-placed shots. If not, he will have to corral them ino one place and disarm them.

Regardless, Virgil just doesn't feel fully preapred.

Frank stands outside the office door, attempting to be nonchalant. Chelsea struggles not to look at him, making a solid connection with her eyes at least once while he waits. As for inside the office...

Roman makes his way into Winter's office. The secretary is apparently out on a coffee run, or taking his kids to school...

The pompous businessman immediately looks to Roman in shock. "What the devil are you doing in my office?! You must have taken a wrong turn somewhere. Janitorial staff isn't lookingto fill posisitons. You must leave."

It is amazing how quickly the slightly aged man reacts. "Winters," he barks into the phone. "Security."

An audible ring is heard over the speaker.

Winter's Office

Roman pulls the jack out of the phone and delivers a backhanded fist across the man’s face.

Roman’s eyes dissect the room and catch the spine of Sun Tzu’s The Art of War. Roman looks at the man. “You know, it deeply offends me to see The Art of War in a businessman’s office. Do you know anything about war, Mr. Winters? I don’t think you do. See I think you and people of your ilk have played up your role in this society. Playing big shot banker is nothing like war.” Roman pulls the book from the line of assorted “How to Succeed in…whatever” line-up and throws it in the man’s face.

“Get the fuck out of here you shrimpy gook…” Roman whose voice registers slightly lower in tone without adding volume cuts off the man.

“I’m going to teach you, Mr. Winters,” Roman draws his silenced Beretta “I’m also going to be relieving you of quite a bit of this institutions financial holdings.”

The man’s eyes dart to his desk where there is most likely an emergency button for this scenario. Roman leaps the two feet between them and catches Winters by the larynx pushing him against the wall. Without a word, Roman inserts the barrel of the gun into Winters mouth.

“Another move like that and I will blow the base of your brain through the back of your head.” Roman shoves his hand into the man’s pocket producing his wallet and places it in his breast coat pocket. Roman retrieves a set of plasti-cuffs, courtesy of Othello, and binds Winter’s wrists behind his back.

Roman shoves him to the floor and then places his foot over the man’s windpipe aiming the gun at him. Roman takes his cell phone and reads Winter’s personal information to someone on the other end. Ending the call with…”If you don’t hear from me by 5pm…you know what to do.”

Roman smiles down at the man, “I’m sure you caught all that. Now let’s get what I came for.” Roman brings him to his feet and starts for the door.

Frank sees the shadows through the frosted glass nearing the door. He knows what's about to happen. Instinctively, he looks to Chelsea, while fingering the 9mms concealed in his jacket sleeves.

Lion's Den
Scarlet Arms, 3rd Parking Basement
(ATTN: Othello, Tivoli)

Othello eases the pressure off of the trigger and removes the gun from the man's ear but doesn't bring it down to his side.

"And that would naturally be why you told me that you were coming down here and asked me to back you up."

The big man shook his head.

"I stuck MY fucking neck out for you Tivoli. Risked my life and future work for the family cause I thought you deserved a second chance. By all that is holy if you are playing me I will make whatever that Chinese bitch threatened to do to you sound like an ice cream social."

He raps the snitch lightly on the back of skull with the silencer. "Go get in the car." He leads the man to the passenger side of the Lamborghini and puts him in. He rertrieves the metal spikes and gets in the driver's side.

"Don't talk I have some thinking to do." He dials up 'Foxy' and tells her where she can have her car picked up. He then pulls out into traffic.

Bank Lobby
(ATTN: Roman, Winters, Frank, Chelsea, Virgil)

Frank hears the door opening, and step back. Roman emerges with a little less than his standard "in control" expression. Winters stays close next to him.

Chelsea looks down to her paperwork, as if unaware of the crisis. Frank's wary eye catches her doing nothing at all unexpected.

From his position on the floor, Virgil sees them from across the room. They leave the office (left end of building) and head towards the vault (upper left corner).

"So what are you supposed to do next?"
((The following was transcribed from a Yahoo IM conversation, and continues the dialogue between Tivoli and Othello))

"What?" Tivoli asks

Othello glares ahead. "If I hadn't lucked in on your meeting what would you do next? How are you supposed to sabotage me and the rest?"

"Shit man...," he struggles for the words, "the bitch figured that since I was still alive, she could use me one more time. Bring you and Roman's crew... even that psychopath teacher, all to some kinda fuckin’ trap. Gave me an envelope... the meeting time and location. Then I was supposed to call you... like, panicked and everything... then get the family's attention. Figured the crazy bastard would just follow you guys in..."

"Hmmm...Well that helps. At least we can be prepared for that meet. So what the hell do I do with you?"

I guess asking you for a one-way plane ticket would be stupid..." Tivoli jokes.

"Give that man a cigar. Problem is if I turn you in to Roman he'll likely kill you and as it is I know that someone in the family is in the Chink's little circle. You've proven how little I can trust you on your own, but I want to keep you alive." He looks at the man. "Suggestions?"

"What if," he is genuinely scared, "what if we go to the fuckin' meeting like she says, like you don't know nuthin’, but come prepared, huh?"

He pulls out an envelope with a small picture. Othello glances over at the image. He sees a rust-and-sky-blue industrial building... a condemned cannery. "Coldstone Cannery" Tivoli announces coldly. This is where they are setting up their trap for you and Romans guys.

Othello needs more information. "Anything about the time for the meet?"

“Day after tomorrow, noon...,” Tivoli replies.

“That's gives us some planning room. Well. I've gotta make a cell call. I'm gonna let McCready know that I've got you and that you have some useful info. That should keep you alive for a while longer."

"Shit!" Tivoli goes back into fear mode. "If word gets out to the greaseballs..."

"Look if you had done what I told you to do you'd probably be out of this mess by now."

The little Italian slowly gets angry. "They would have killed Latisha... and then made me into fucking cole slaw."

"They don't know where you were do they?" Othello raises an eyebrow.

"Why do you think I got outta there?"

He pounds the wheel. "Shit. You compromised my crib."

“You did," Danny gets a bit more aggressive. "I UNcompromised it by getting the fuck out."

Othello's voice deepens. "How do you figure that? How did they know where you were?"

"The fuck?" He gets defensive, "You drop me off with an address... on foot... with these guys chasing you... what the fuck did you expect?!"

“Too much to expect for you to be careful I guess. I'll take part of the blame but if Latisha's hurt, well you haven't really seen me angry yet." The engine growls as he gives it more gas.

"If Latisha's hurt, you'd better blame yourself. I did my best man, stayed low and made sure no one followed me. Maybe your girl...," apparently, Tivoli is now comfortable arguing with the merc.

Othello snaps out his phone and speaks "Foxy." The phone rings. The line chirps a busy signal. "Damn. Foxy Cell." Five rings, then voicemail... "Baby. If you get this message go to your Mom's. Lay low." He looks at Tivoli. "I hate you Italians. Nothing but trouble."

Tivoli looks out the window. "We goin’ to get me killed now or what?"

The ride continues in silence.

Othello's Car

Othello pulls up McCready's phone number in his cell and waits for the professor to answer.

McCready feels the vibration from inside his coat pocket. He removes the small cellular phone and moves away from the crowd. "Listen to that squak box, mate," he tells Dino. When he's safely away from the crowd, he opens the phone. "Hello?"

"Prof. Othello. You'll never believe who is sitting to my right."

"If it's Lihn Lao, I'll marry you."

"Good thing it isn't but I did see her from a mere few yards away. More o nthat later. I have Tivoli"

"Ah, the elusive Three Rings. It's fucking spectacular that you have retrieved such an elusive quarry, but I'm afraid there are more pressing issues at the moment."

"Besides the fact that the Weasel, Linh, and some mysterious third figure have formed an unholy Triumvirate?"

"Yes. My former employer Mr. Avery has donated several police helicopters of the highest caliber to the force. They are virtually invincible and totally operational. You know of what I speak."

"Shit and our boys at the bank may be the first guinea pigs. We should warn them somehow."

"I've got Dino listening to the squak box on a black and white as we speak. I think we're going to need some transportation. How soon can you be here?"

"I'll have to get something a bit bigger. Give me 10 minutes. You're at the Convention Center?"

"Civic Center, front steps. We'll be in the back of the crowd. And Othello?"

"Yes."

"Tivoli goes in the trunk. DON'T eat him." He hangs up.

"Crazy white folk." He snaps his phone shut.

Unnoticeably, Virgil moves from his current position, getting somewhere in between the vault door and the bunch of guards. His gun is firmly tugged by his side, ready to go into action at any time. He waits for what is coming next.

PROTECTION, PT. II

Despite the bullets flying through the glass at the front of the store, Paulie stops and stares in awe at the row upon row of guns and ammunition gracing the walls. He falls to his knees, arms spread wide in reverence.

"I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and touched the face of God."

Julian gives him a quick "are you kidding me" stare, and Paulie is back up and racing along the racks. Hunting rifles, shotguns, but nothing that really sings to him.

Until.

Near the back of the store is a door with a cheap, store-bought PRIVATE sign taped to it. Paulie checks the knob -- it's locked. Paulie grins. Most likely the place where good ol' Ray keeps the items of dubious legality.

He blasts the wood around the door with the AK, kicks it open, and steps inside expectantly.

While McCready's on the phone, he listens to the squawk box. It's all a bunch of loud, staticy promises of a safer and healthier Coldstone. The people all around him are all smiling like cancer patients smoking joints to help alleviate their denial.

It bothers him that Avery and Palooka have already exited the stage. They have spotted the two, and he's awaiting for McCready's next plan of action.

Rally

McCready puts the phone back in his pocket and grins. He half glides, half saunters through the crowd towards Dino.

"Big man. I hate to give orders-aw, hell, I love to give orders-but not to friends and associates. We gotta leave Avery and Palooka for the time being. C'mon, let's go."

He motions them away from the crowd to wait for Othello.

Once they are out of earshot from the police activity, he says "Our cannibalistic colleague informs me that we will have a new addition to our motley gang-though he will be riding in the trunk. I believe you know him. A Mr. Tivoli?"
