Downtown is bustling with activity. Police have turned out to contain what reporters have prematurely labeled a "botched bank heist". Simultaneously, an unexpected explosion brought down a Starbuck's coffee shop on the east end of town, drawing new attention of news copters and onlookers.
In the shadow of this chaos, a hasty rendezvous has brought together the battered remnant of Coldstone's favorite family.
The reunion takes place in mid-town. 48th and West, the holdout of Jackson Stein--a disgraced former surgeon now on the diRossi payroll. His name is synonymous with the subtlety of the work he provides.
Lying patched up in the middle of Stein's living room is Virgil Abrizza. The effects of home-brewed anesthetic wearing off, the dizzied "Razor Face" blinks his way back to consciousness.
Watching over his injured comrade is Frank Tobiasi, having never left Virgil's side since the injury back at the bank. In the corner of the room, an exhausted woman named Chelsea lies asleep in a chair, draped in Frank's coat.
Outside on the hi-rise apartment balcony, stands Bruno diRossi, the unnaturally thin Italian hood. He paced back and forth in the afternoon sun, looking out into the cityscape.
Seated casually on a sturdy wicker chair beside him was Roman Carvaggio, the Mafia underboss who's now-legendary crew had escaped both arrest and death more times than fate should have allowed.
As the group attempts to relax, a stir brews once again, form inside the apartment. Dr. Stein slides to the peep hole to make out a dubious pair of newcomers.
Pounding on the door is Paulie "The Jester" DiViloso, the comedian hitman just fresh off a daring escape from Triad hanchmen. He holds up his companion--a wounded strongarm bean-counter called Julian diRossi. As the door to the apartment cracks open, Julian shoves Paulie's arm aside. "I'm fine!" he protests, before slumping to his knees.
With a sigh, Dr. Stein helps Paulie lift the bleeding Julian into his apartment. Virgil's body is carefully slid clear as the next victim is seen to by the "doctor".
Following a short cell call with Roman, the curiously involved Othello Redman pulls his Escalade full of mobsters into a nearby shopping mall parking lot. Diamond Valley Mall. Here Redman and his cohorts are to meet up with the mountain of muscle called Romeo, the meathead who successfully rigged the coffee-store inferno on the east side.
With Redman is Danny "Three Rings" Tivoli, the three-time mafia turncoat who was always incehs away from death. Standing outside the Escalade is Forbes "Echelon" McCready, an assassin who's fate had become intertwined with Roman's crew. On the other side of the parking lot, Dino Morinelli keeps a keen eye on newcomers.

"TRANSFER"
Stein's Apartment
(ATTN: Roman, Paulie, Bruno)
Now that things have settled, Bruno reminds Roman that the certificates he holds from the heist are time sensitive, and need to be taken to Capella mansion right away. Failure to bring this "take" money to Don Paolo will be seen as a personal failure on Carvaggio's part.
Paulie manages to talk Stein out of his car keys, hoping to avoid unwanted attention in the doctor's gray SAAB.
The three of you prepare to leave.

"RECOVERY"
Stein's Apartment
(ATTN: Frank, Virgil, Julian, Chelsea)
Frank opts to remain behind to oversee Chelsea and the recovery of the two wounded. For the time being, the doctor is willing to house the quartet, with promise of additional compensation for his time.
As Virgil eventually becomes mobile, he and Frank have discussed their options. While Julian and Chelsea are unconscious, Frank and Virgil have a chance to talk between themselves. The debate begins as to what must be done with the woman who is now in way over her head.

"REGROUP"
Diamond Valley Mall
(ATTN: Romeo, Othello, Tivoli, Dino, Forbes)
The Escalade is appraoched by a taxi. Dino and Forbes eye it carefully, relaxing a bit to see Romeo climb out of the cramped back seat. He nods to the two guards.
"Nice fucking day, huh?" he chimes as he joins up with the two outside the vehicle.
The remainder of your assignment at the mall here is a small "package" pickup, which is to take place now that you are assembled.
Meanwhile, inside the car, Tivoli and Othello have another brief chance to talk candidly. Danny takes the opportunity, "I swear to god," he whines, "You shoulda put one between that Mick's eyes back there. That poindexter is trouble. You fucking know it."
