Star Wars: RPG?

Thread Starter
This is just really a brainstorm thread. Obviously, Coldstone is coming to an end (although C2 looks to be on the horizon), but I want to try and put together a Star Wars RPG. It's probably too much to ask to do two at one,
so it's a case of finding a time to do it, and not having it clash with C2 or any other RPGs anyone is planning. But, if so, does anyone have good ideas on the subject. i.e.:
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial"> Setting - OT, PT, Pre-Republic?
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Character Types - Jedi, Sith, Rebels, Imperials, Neutrals? Which are playable and which aren't?
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial"> How much interaction comes between players. Obviously, Star Wars is a gigantic playing field, and very unlike Coldstone, which is a very tight knit operation. This means a large amount of NPCs, and possibly could be best done with co-GMs.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">So, feedback, suggestions? Interested? Tell me! Would you be interested? Should I fuck off back to Dagobah? Let me know.

I'd be up for any kind of RPGing, after I failed to jump into Coldstone, now with more time on my hands.

Star Wars is asking for a mass of players. You're talking a huge game world and tons of control needed.

Yes, this would be a giant task. Possibly involving a couple of GMs.

I'm in, although I've been kicking around ideas with GL and Katanga for a campaign-non SW -of my own. But you are far more proficient in the ways of the force...

Why not, instead of focusing on the world of the films, create one BETWEEN the rise of the Rebellion and the fall of the Republic (i.e., the 18 years Luke and Leia are growing up?)

That's my two sense.

Well, I had an idea to throw it around five or seven years before ANH, which coincides with a story I'm currently writing about Vader hunting down the last of the Jedi and the final construction beginnings of the Death Star, which would allow for a lot of intrigue either way.

I would be happy to be the/one of the GMs for this. And yes it would be sprawling, and yes, I could manage that sprawl.

And SEAHAWK--Coldstone 2 Approacheth! Check with Katanga for specifics, he will "helm" that one. GL just gets to be a player on that one.

GL, I would love for you to assist me on this.

I've been thinking, and I think possibly the best time scale would be to use the period between THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and RETURN OF THE JEDI*. This gives us a good block of time where we have a nice large playing field, and we have access to some decent technology (with a nice chance to possibly introduce some facets seen in ROTJ before the actual fact).

Obviously, because of the strictness of the Galactic Civil War in its nature (for instance, the immediate lack of any Jedi characters besides Luke Skywalker), we would have to work out some sort of leeway for some things that would not take away any of the fun playing in that galaxy far, far away, but still keeping relatively faithful to the source material.

Note: Whatever is decided on, I do not plan to use any Expanded Universe story material. There might be a few starships appearing (Victory-class Star Destroyers, for example), but we won't see any Ysalimari, Thrawn will not be appearing anywhere, and SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE will not have taken place (although some events featured in that which partained to the established history of RETURN OF THE JEDI, such as Luke building his lightsaber will possibly be alluded too.)

And Chewie won't die!

The rest of the post sounds great, but this caught my attention. If you want to run this campaign as the main driving force (no pun intended) that's great!

But dueling GMs do no good. I could possibly be "backup GM", playing some of the NPCs instead of a character of my own, as well as work on the plot outline in private emails or something.

I could play Vader to your Palpatine, so to speak.

(The above post assumes "GL" meant "General Logan", not "George Lucas".)

That was my intention, my young apprentice. Your insight serves you well. You could assist me, both with NPCs, the plot, etc.

I don't know if you'd call this a resume to GM SW, but:

* GMed in Table Top RP's for 15 Years
* GMed in Table Top SW RP for 10 Years
* RPed online in SW RP for 7 Years
* Wrote 2 SW "Online Novels" w/75 Separately Submitted RP Characters
* In Depth Knowledge of SW Lore, Prequel and Original Eras
* General Logan IS a freaking SW RP Character

Geek self love is a horrible, tragic thing. I am used to being ashamed of these things... only now to have a reason to celebrate them.

I could practically do Othello in my sleep. (Heck half my posts have been done that way. ) I would love to do a character in this!!
Not only am I in for Coldstone 2, but I'm all over this too.
The question is, to backdate my pre-existing SW character(s) (All now in middle age way after ROTJ) or to use all new ones...
It goes without saying that I'm definitely up for this, as well as CS2.
I've been away from CHUD for about a year and don't really know what is going on witht the CS RPG. Could someone give me the basics? I don't want to sift through all of the CS questions. 770 is a bit too many, especially when most of them do not pertain to the subject matter. How would the RPG format go?

The GM posts a scenario, alluding to the players involved in said scenario. The players thusly post replies with their actions. Sort of a delayed chat.

Example:

GM POST:
IMPERIAL ATTACK
(ATTN: Han Solo, Luke Skywalker)

The Millennium Falcon, having just escaped from the Death Star, is surrounded by a phalanx of Imperial TIE fighters, eager to stop the freighter making its way to Yavin. Inside, Han Solo and Luke Skywalker each make their way to the dorsal and ventral gun turrets, hurrying to defend the ship.

PLAYER 1 (Han) POST:

Han jumps into the seat and puts on the headset.

PLAYER 2 (Luke) POST:

Luke climbs down the ladder and into the cramped cockpit.

And that's basically it, really.

Somebody (katanga) let in on the Coldstone 2 startup. I need to know what I need to start doing to prepare for such an adventure.
Hang it all, I'd like to be a part of this one too. So, will these run concurrently or one after the other? As a working man, I need to budget my time carefully; otherwise some mook/gundark is likely to just shoot me in the back and be done with it.

Ideally, a post or two a day.

That link should take you to the index page for the entirety of RPG, with every Coldstone thread including rule pages.
