GROUND RULES

Some of you will have been involved in Coldstone, some have you will have read it, and some of you might be completely fresh to the idea. These are the basic rules for the game. The goal is for me to take the brunt of the work and for each of you to have a lot you don't have to worry about. This way you can post in here and keep your busy schedules.

If you have never role-played before, pay extra close attention to the following rules. I will strain to be brief.

1. I (Fett) am the story teller. Along with General Logan, I run the plot and all the background characters. I am also a referee/judge when needed.

2. As a player, you should only focus on what your character is doing. Post in-character actions and spoken words as if you were the character.

3. Since we have no real dice or skill rating system, bear this in mind: You may role play what happens to your character, and what happens to un-named characters only. This means if a group of Stormtroopers attack you, you can shoot them one by one and post their grisly death however you wish. Named characters, however, can only be injured or die by the posts of their owner, or myself.

For example, if you were role-playing "Han Solo" you could post the following:

"Han shoots one of the stormtroopers in the head. (Unnamed troop)"

or

"Han fires three shots at Vader’s hand (named character)"

but not

"Han shoots Vader in the face. (Vader is named, and this would definitely be Han's player deciding that Vader had died)"

Also, be fair. If your character is shot at, be realistic. It is better to role-play a guy who takes a blast in the shoulder than to play a guy who is invincible. As the game-master/storyteller I reserve the right to inform you if you have been hit, are dying, or are dead.

4. Don't post outrageous amounts of activity for one post. You may post in character conversation lines as often as you wish.

5. E-mail me things you want kept secret. If you are sneaking up on someone, planning a trap for someone, having secret conversations with another player (email us both). Keep me in the loop. I will make every effort to remain impartial.
6. Each Chapter will contain story headings pertaining to a particular story, with story and action relating to the character(s) involved in that storyline.

Example:

Imperial Attack
(ATTN: Luke Skywalker, Han Solo)

The Millennium Falcon is suddenly surrounded by a phalanx of deadly Imperial TIE fighters.

7. These are your own characters only. Please don’t expect to be Luke or Han or Lando or Vader, as these will not necessarily be the focus, but if and when they are included, will be NPCs (Non-Player Characters) only.

8. In every thread, post your inventory. This means weapons, food, tools, whatever you have, just to keep track. For example:

Han Solo
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Blastech DL-44 Heavy Blaster
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Droid Caller
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Hydrospanner
  • <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Two packs of space-fries.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Obviously, your character will carry tools, weapons and even spacecraft pertaining to their character. This is fine within reason, although it wouldn’t be realistic to have anyone have a Star Destroyer just off-hand.
9. Regarding the possible assumptions arising from the story of ATTACK OF THE CLONES: In this RPG, the armies of the Imperial Stormtroopers are NOT clones. It is fair to assume that given the nature of clones, and the behaviour of Stormtroopers in the original trilogy, that somewhere in between, the clones are stopped and recruitment begins. Obviously, this is all conjecture, which won’t be answered until 2005.

Feel free to pose questions and concerns to the "Questions" thread, or for anything, email me at fett@slave-1.com.
