STAR WARS: RPG QUESTIONS

So yeah... any questions, go here!
Wookiees as PCs?
Brash pilot PCs?

I have a PnP RPG character I'd like to use, and he has a backstory explaining how he came into possession of his own black market X-Wing.

The actual starfighter type isn't important, but can a character own a starfighter in the campaign you've planned, or were you just planning on everyone being a groundpounder?
No question, but I just now realized that was freakin' Winona Ryder in Scott's pic.

Sexy, sexy...looks like Commander Cassidy's gonna be workin his charms on her.

Boinnnnggggg!

Wookies as PCs are fine, although obviously, a universal translator will be needed.

As far as ships go, this campaign is essentially settled on the Rebel side of things. While obviously not everyone will be affiliated with that side, there will be starfighter combat of a kind. While I'd prefer for any pilots to be Rebel, it's really up to you.

Fett, when I say RESIDENT, I meant "grew up there." I'll change it to third-most famous native.

Got my entry together. Freaking novel too, sorry.

It's not the size that... bah. Forget it. You were prompted by my post. This ranks you just below the master, m'boy.

KNEEL.

If saying that makes you feel better.

Well that takes all the fun out of it....

Just posted my character info. Poxy, edit your "CAST" entry when you get a chance, and change "Ryloths" to "Twi'leks".

For a second there, I thought I'd be the only tailhead, but it's nice to have someone to secretly talk to.
Good thing for you guys there are no force users around here.
Two gambling Twileks. Interesting.

Ah crap, yeah, they're FROM Ryloth, had that word stuck in my head.

Just make sure you don't put Rylos. I don't need Lance Guest in this RPG!

Hey you just wait until I crack out that crossbow with the 5 foot range. Then you'll be sorry.

Hmmm.

Care to make a small wager on that?

Completely coincidental, too. I ported most of that story from my PnP RPG character, and I started typing that bio at around 12 noon. It took forever since I'm supposed to be working.

While I originally imagined him winning some huge sabacc tournament, I thought it would be more interesting if it was just pure luck. A one-time win that he lost for good. I almost wrote it with a regular slot machine, but I wanted to make it a little more "Star Wars".

He's just an average joe at gambling.

Whereas my origin came together only after finding that picture. I came up with the name without really knowing what race he'd be, but looking at it, it said "Twi'lek" to me. So then I went online looking for pics and found the one I used, and the look on his face and his pose just made him seem like some kind of huckster.
Hell yeah, that sounds Twi'lek to me. I wouldn't have guessed you thought of the name before deciding on the species.

If you REALLY want to geek out, you can post the Twi'leki version of your name, with the apostrophe. I haven't decided between Venre'navo or Venren'avo.

Wow, you guys are really going in-depth with the backgrounds. Like I did with Paulie, I tried to give a broad brush stroke, something that gave me an idea how to play the character but that allowed some flexibility for anything that happened on the fly (Paulie's endless stream of cousins, for instance, came about from one random post during the course of the story).

Nothing against those who went into detail, but I don't like being that confined from the get-go.
I was saying something similar to this, actually. And while I did go into some detail, it was more to help the GM "place me" than to give the end all, be all of the chracter.

But I do agree that too much info is a bad thing. I figured it might be a character to which others might be able to be worked in.

The guy has a ship and a purpose that could take him to lots of destinations, potential contacts with both sides of the conflict, etc. A "grounding" force, so to speak. Every campaign needs one, better if played by a player than as an NPC.

Sort of what I was thinking with my gambler.
Side Note: Players used to Coldstone/CS2 might find it difficult to switch to the "PG" world of SW. In the SW campaign, it is highly unlikely there will be need for gruesome or excessive killing, foul language (beyond a sparse hell and damn), no explicit sexual information, etc.

Of course, while this is ultimately in the hands of the GM, I would strongly suggest to my fellow SW RPers that we don't allow our roles to devolve into something "less" than the spirit of SW.

This is not directed to any individual, nor is it any kind of demand. But a suggestion that I hope the SW fan inside you guys would appreciate.

I hope this came out right.
For my part, I was just trying to add enough detail to give everybody a good picture in their minds, but not box anybody into anything.

For example, we know what my character did during his formative years and what he's been doing for the past 6-7 years, but it's all general stuff. A couple details (his mentor's name, ship name) to add spice, but beyond that, no specifics to tie anyone to anything at any given time.

And besides, giving a GM free reign with your background is just asking to get fucked. wink

Normally I'd agree, but seeing Burke's character...

Mr. Skin if you want to be my droid that would be cool. She treats her mechanical stuff very well (naturally) and we could work out what cool gizmos and widgets you might have. Of course if you want to actually work with a pilot that would be a bit of a problem lacking a starfighter.
Wow, an astromech droid!

That's one hell of an inspired character choice. Hell, I've played as protocol and security droids before, but this is totally different.

Well, if you've read my character's background, you'll notice he recently bought an astromech. You're more than welcome to assume that role.

Don't worry, I won't wipe your memory. wink
post #36 of 122
Hey I saw him first!!! wink
I changed a couple of things on my character... of import I changed Mei's droid to the protocol variety since we have a glut of astromechs.

Logan, Fett,
I hope I didn't put so much background info in my character description that it disrupts the play mechanics of the game. I was just hoping to create an arc for Mei (not as important for my character in Coldstone), and to do that I needed to put in a lot of background information now. If Mei changes dramtically, I want to see it.

Heck, I didn't even mention what happened to her parents or detail her adventures on Kessel, which I have worked out.
I tried to make my character easily adaptable to just about any campaign. He's a merc, so he'll fit into most anything.

Whatever Skin does with anyone, I'm cool. I love his idea, and it'll be interesting to see how it pans out over the campaign, so if he wants to hook up as another player's droid, that's fine.

Burke, however much detail you give is cool. There is no too long or too short, it's what you yourself want to say.
Thanks capteucalyptus & Gioman,

I sent capteucalyptua an e-mail, if the idea works for him (with Lila) its go.

Replied Gavin. I think this'll be cool.

BTW, Blunt's character is instantly my favourite of the lot.

There's something about Chow...

That's cool, Mr. Skin. He's offering a more spacious ship and cool modifications.

Pretty hard to resist for a droid.

No ship unfortunately. I seem to be one of the few without basic transportation. But way cool mods yeah.

And the two Twi'leks.

Edited because I suck.
