I've moved 5 times in Houston, and every time has been right off Westheimer*...currently at Gessner, in the Woodlake area.

For those who don't live in Houston, "Old Farm" is a new subdivision that isn't a farm, and is smack in the middle of Westheimer...which runs from downtown to the western edge of Houston proper. (Houston, by comparison, is larger than some states in New England)

It's also where I sit in traffic on Fri night, and a few minute's walk from the Super Kmart where the Houston police chief got in trouble for arresting all those kids loitering in the parking lot at 2am (What was it, two hundred?)

I lived in the West Point Apartments on the other side of K-Mart. Damn good thing we weren't there that night shopping, we sometimes late-night shopped there. Now we live in "Porn Row" by Caligula

Yeah, for Halloween they had a giant inflatable pumpkin on top of the building. My kid asked me "Daddy is that a pumpkin?" and I couldn't help but say "It's more of a pornkin."

You have to admire a strip club named Caligula.

What's more, it's a chain...there's one in Dallas, too.

So, what does your son say when he sees The Colorado? "Are we in Vegas?"

(For those not in the area, the Colorado has a hundred-foot lightbulb sign that can be seen from space)

I've actually only been there once, but the bachelor party season is almost upon us. I'm scheduled to be best man twice this summer so I could be making my triumphant return to this fine establishment.
