Fuck the sun.

Something is wrong with the world when Kansas is the hottest state in the nation. 106 yesterday, with a heat index hovering around the 118 mark.

And yeah, the air conditioning in my office doesn't work. I'm sitting here in the dark with two fans blowing, and it's still ninety goddamn degrees in here.

Forget about waiting for sentient machines to strike first. We need to scorch the sky NOW.
I agree with you...this fucking heat is making me irritable.

I now know why there are more murderous rampages in the summer.
Yes, this is the worst summer probably ever. We're in the process of shattering the "consecutive days without rain" record set in the '30's, we're up to day 58 I think. I hate this.

Try working OUTSIDE in the heat and humidity; we're not topping triple digits but 92 degrees with a 71 degree dewpoint is fucking Vietnam weather. I swear I saw Charlie hiding behind a tree yesterday....
I agree with you all. This weather sucks. It's like the sun is just leaning on your ass, trying to break your spirit.

Damn big ball of gas.

I will not now nor will I ever complain about the heat because I hate winter more than paying my credit card bills.

Slater, hit the library. They have computers you can use if you are writing or editing, it's always cool and fairly quiet, and its got to be better than dying in a pool of sweat. Or buy a fan.

Well, I don't know where you live (is Kansas a fair assumption?) but I'd rather have 30 degree weather than 103.

Winter doesn't bug me until we hit Jan/Feb and you start getting the single digit/below zero temps with the wind chill making it even colder. If it's high teens and not too breezy, I usually just throw a long sleeve T under my work uni and I'm fine. High 30s/40s I'm in short sleeves.

No, I've got AC at home for personal writing/editing/HALO playing. It's the air conditioning at my office that's busted.
Get hypothermia while stuck in the Canadian wilderness in the summer time when a cold front has blown in and dropped the weather from the 90's and sunny to the 20's and 30's and wet and windy. Then you will love the heat and all you can get it. Of course living here in Austin for a year, I now miss the humidity of New Orleans and Mississippi. I love Ra and all he provides.

Ah. It would suck to work in that kind of environment, but I wish I had a little more heat in my office. The temp hovers around 60 degrees here.

Getting real fucking sick of watering my plants every day in a sad attempt to prevent the inevitable.
We're working on Day 61 of no rain. I water every day but I'm pretty sure it's useless. My lawn is crunchy.
I tried to keep the grass watered but I gave up when the guy across the street with the immaculate lawn threw in the towel.
I was stepping out of a convienence store the other day when I felt some drops of rain on my arm. I got all excited until I saw one of the kids that worked there watering down the sidewalk, and all I felt was a few stray droplettes. I was getting all happy for rain, too!

Damn my false hope!
Had about five or ten minutes of rain last night. Just enough to make it sticky outside.
Yes, Topeka is sucking grande sausage right now. I just knew it wouldn't rain enough to make a difference. Maybe in the next few days that will change. I'm gonna be pissed if it rains out my concert Friday night, even though I just want to play Nintendo more than listen to the bands.

Please elaborate if you don't mind. Is there a concert/Nintendo event I'm unaware of?

Yeah, at City Market in KC on Friday night. The Nintendo Fusion Tour will feature several current "hot" bands and game playing booths. Sorta like Lollapalooza, but without the good music. It will be my first experience with the Gamecube, and I'm hoping for some decent demos and such, if I can elbow my way in past the 14-year olds. I think Slater said he is going to be there also. Do you like Evanescence or Cold?

You know I honestly couldn't say. Me and music have never gotten along very well. Last live show I saw was DMB a few years back. If I wouldn't recognize it from the radio I probably don't know it. I suck, I know.

Whats the ticket price for this thing?

Assuming you liked it, you are my new best friend. It rained for about five minutes today. I was almost happy.

PS: The Fusion tour bands are crap in a hat.

Well, the music isn't DMB, but it's not that challenging either. Basic V-100 fare. The challenge will be wading through the all-ages crowd, which I hate like nothing else. I think the tickets are $22 plus Ticketmaster's usual $7-8 markup for "convenience charge", so about $30 total.

Just about the only band I still buy anything from these days. I was a little disappointed with the length of the show but other than that fantastic. Outdoor show, we were in about the tenth row right in the middle. Good stuff.

Actually, it's more like Atlanta's typical Summer weather. HATE.

Bring on Autumn and Winter (and keep them forever for all I care).
Joy! Otis, do you have the Lillywhite Sessions? If not, do you want them?

New DM solo album next month. I'm too excited. TWO versions of Gravedigger!

Carl, I don't know what you're complaining about. I loved the summer Georgia weather. If I wasn't totally soaked with sweat three seconds after stepping out my door at 7 in the morning, it wasn't a good day. Some days I wondered why I bothered showering.

Not to mention the fact that the KC City Market is the worst fucking venue on the planet. I HATE that place.

Dreading this concert...

My strategy consists of:

Plan #1: Belly up to the Nintendo.

Plan #2: Belly up to the bar.

Plan #3: Leave early.

I've never been to City Market. I'm not expecting much.

Not yet, my kid brother keeps meaning to bring me a copy though.
It's good. Some versions are better than what ended up on Busted Stuff. If your brother doesn't come through or you want to try a live show or two, I'll hook you up. My meager collection is here: http://db.etree.org/trippingbillie41
post #31 of 72
Thanks a bunch, I'll drop you a line if need be. If there is anything you need off hand I can check and see what he has (good sized collection) but most of it seems pretty close to what you already have.

Dave & Tim at the Centennial has been in my car CD player for a very long time now.

Otis, check your PM's in a few minutes. Thankee.
Checked and replied sir.

Been raining all day. Supposed to drop to the low 80s tomorrow.

No rain for Oklahoma. We hate you Kansas folk.

Don't hate too much. The rain just made it muggy as all hell.

Yeah, it feels like a sweatshop out there right now. I had to swim to my car this morning.

Oh, and if any of you guys are still going to the Cold/Evanescense concert tonight, I'll be the guy with the blue-and-white striped shirt hovering around the video game dispalys.
I think I'm going to skip it. I don't think Nintendo has anything new for me to see except Mario Cart. The wife leaves town tomorrow morning so I plan on drinking beer and playing video games all weekend. The least I can do is stick around the house the night before she leaves.

Digger, PM coming your way.
It rained .02 inches the other day, ending the dry spell at 62 days. It's cooled down quite a bit here, now we're at about 85 or so. I wish it would pour all weekend even though I'll be out of town.

NO RAIN IN OKLAHOMA!!!!!

I was supposed to go to the 311 concert in Dallas Wednesday and the Dallas game on Thursday. My car is a piece of shit and the tires are in BAAAAAD shape. Well, we are leaving Wednesday (the 27th) and it is pouring like a bitch. I got from Norman to Purcell and almost hydroplaned into a wreck on the side of the road. Well, we came back home, skipped the concert, and drove to Dallas Thursday for the game.

I can't believe how hard it was raining in the metro area and you tell me Tulsa got none of it?

It is sunny as hell, hot as a bitch for so long and then it rains hard just when I don't need it to. Figures

No...I don't know where Jay was today, but it rained like a mofo this morning. We'll take it all weekend long.
Yeah, it rained TODAY, but that was posted waaaaay back yesterday. BEFORE the rain.

Ya mook.
it rained there today?

It rained here Wednesday but it has only teased here with clouds yesterday and today.

At least it has cooled off

I can't believe it. I saw Slater at the show, and not only was he singing along to every Evanescence song, but he was dressed in all black, smoking clove cigarettes and throwing strawberry-scented white rosebuds on the stage for Amy Lee.
Yeah, Amy's kinda cute. I'll have to check out their music one of these days.

And as for weather, we've gotten some MAD rain here in the past few days. I hope this keeps up through my vacation so it won't be so stinking hot.
It's going to be near 90 but nothing like the past few weeks.

And did you know Evanescence is a christian band?

So what did Nintendo have to offer?

***edit***

Nevermind just saw the thread.
