man,i cant begin to share with you how much i love the karate kid...

just watched the first one the other day, this movie is definatley THE feel good movie, whenever he performs the crane kick against johnny in the final scene,i get tingly...

the definging moment of the entire series is when hes at miyagis house, after being instructed to "wax the car, paint the fence, sand the floor and paint the house"his new moves are finally revealed...when miyagi unleashes on him and he relizes potential as a martial artist, its gold...

either that or im being over dramatic and its just a piece of poo...

what doe you like best about this movie or any of the other two

im leaving out the next karate kid for the shear reason that it just doesnt feel like it fits in the series without daniel

what the hell is ralph macchio doing now?

I think he's in some straight to tape movies, which is a shame. He was so awesome as Karate Kid and in The Outsiders. I hope he returns triumphantly in the inevitable revitalization of the Karate Kid franchise.

I LOVE the Karate Kid films. Adore them, especially the first.

So many weird stories:

I remember in college---true fuckin story may god strike me dead---I was laying around in my living room with two of my roommates, doing that chill nothing thing you do when you go to school, and we were watching Cliffhanger I think and then it ended and another movie was coming up on HBO and I'm like, "If this is the Karate Kid, I'm not going to Philosophy," and up next was, yes, The Karate Kid. I don't know if I read it somewhere or saw a commercial and subconsciously knew it was coming on or if I have ESP, but it was weird and cool and I didn't go to class.

Also, when I interviewed del Toro at Sony, in the conference room, they had props in a case from various movies and in there, along with the Groundhog Day alarm clock, some other shit, was the All-Valley Karate Championship Trophy---so cool. I wanted to steal it.

I like it better as "Rocky."

And I like it better as Breakin'.

Course the same goes for Saving Private Turbo so what do I know other that I couldn't ever get into The Karate Kid films.

Dunno what it was. Maybe it was how Macchio was prettier than any of his love interests. Maybe it was how I used to idolize Martin Kove in the dark years before I knew Michael Ironside. Maybe it was all those Happy Days episodes I watched as a kid.

Or maybe it was that time I tried that crane shit during fourth grade recess and who my pal Cedric kicked me in the nuts in front of my girl Katie.

But it was probably how it was the only movie showing constantly on HBO that didn't star Clayton Rohner.

I do however understand why people like it.

And for the record I love those shitty power ballad theme songs the films had...

Actually Ralph Macchio is an editor for Marvel Comics. He edits one of the Spidey titles, but which one is escaping me now.

Damn I barely remember the movies. I was to young for them I guess when they were popular. But I have seen the Next Karate Kid with Hillary Swank. God that was one ass-bad movie.
