The Princess and the Warrior

Has anyone else seen this? It's from Tom Tywker and Franka Potente (sp?) and just about everyone else who helped make Run Lola Run.

I personally enjoyed it, the story was mildly engrosing, but visually was where it sustained me for the entire 2 hour running time.

Other than that, I just wanted to see if you guys and gals had seen it and what you thought.

Is it out on video yet? Crap, I'll have to chase that one down. I really enjoyed the soundtrack to it, although it was far from being as great as the Lola soundtrack, but I think viewing the flick will make me enjoy it more so.

Thanks for reminding me to keep my eyes open for this one.

Biggest disappointment I've seen in a long while. Throughout the whole movie, all I could think about was 'What is the point of this movie?", and I was never able to answer my own question. I'll admit, I did go into this expecting Lola v1.5, but the movie was far removed from my favorite German flick of 1999 (most likely, also the only German movie I saw that year).

The characters were boring, and I didn't understand why Sissi wanted to be with Bodo. He seemed like just too bizarre a person that no one on this earth would want to put up with him. I didn't care if they would match up together or not. Also, the sound in the movie really let me down; Lola rocks my appartment to pieces when I play it, and while I did enjoy the soundtrack to Princess, it never comes through as loud as I had hoped it would.

I'm really surprised that I disliked this movie so much, after looking forward to it for months now. Never have I ever lost interest in a movie so quickly; especially one that I had hoped would mean more to me.

Saw this flick a couple of weeks ago and forgot to add my comments then. I thought this was an excellent film and I really enjoyed the performances from Potente and Furrman. I also was captured by the beautiful visuals and cool music.

I'm a big fan of Tykwer's. The main argument against his films is usually about the lack of "substance" in his work, and I agree that he tends to substitute style for substance, but man what amazing style it is! I loved Run Lola Run, and when his first film, Winter Sleepers, came through town, I couldn't wait to see it. Well, the film blew me away. The music, the visuals, the way it was assembled was masterful. This sold me on his talent, and surpassed Lola on my list.

When Princess came through, I couldn't wait to see it. I think it's my favorite of his so far, but all three films have so much energy and passion, it's hard to choose. The guy's gifted, no doubt. His music is perfect, his visual sensibilities are outstanding, and regardless of how "pointless" some people find his films, they never say they were bored. He's great at keeping things moving, and pouring energy into his work.

Those who have only seen Lola, or Princess, I highly recommend checking out his other work. Winter Sleepers has the least amount of "action," but is still full of the Tykwer "feel," and has an incredible ending that secured his position as one of my favorite new directors. Nice to see this film getting some recognition, even if it's not all praise.
