Was Planet Of The Apes just a money deal for Tim Burton or what? The movie was so boring and joyless, and so devoid of the quirks and poetic darkness of Burton's earlier work, that it seems like Burton was detached from the entire thing. His usual passion isn't evident even once.

So what's the story? Did he do it for the money, or was it just an unhappy experience for him? Or was this just the first case of him losing his touch? Can anyone shed any light?
