The Boondock Saints

I am pretty sure this has been the subject of much discussion on these boards, but I just saw it. I need to think of better words to describe it, but for right now: Wow. See it. It is in the vein of recent crime films, but is a different animal of its own right. Its central question seems easy enough to answer, but I must say it does make me pause and think.

I really enjoyed that movie. I think it has all the wit, action, surprises and suspense of the best post-Pulp Fiction action movies.
This is a creative film in all aspects... even the editing. The scene in which Dafoe is recounting what happened at a crime scene and we see him there as it happens was brilliant.
It was another brave, excellent performance by him. And another characteristically charismatic one for Norman Reedus, whom I always enjoy.
Good to see some love for Boondock Saints.

Oh man...

I found parts to like about it (the gunfight scenes, the toliet dropping on the Russian mob guy, Billy Connelly), but otherwise I found it very derivative and redundant.

And that fucking lummox who accidentally killed the cat (the "FUNNY! FUNNY!" guy). Wasn't he one of the producers? Oh shit, was he excruciating to watch.

A sequal is supposed to be in the works, dunno if Dafoe will be in this one though.
