As geekified as this may be, what movie/fave song ring tone would blast cooly from your cellphone if i gave you a call right now?

Me, i just free dowloaded the 'Indiana Jones' theme tune and backed that up with the 'Danger Mouse' one.

How do you download tones to your phone? Help the cellular-ly challenged.

(Oh and check your email.)

I'm ashamed to say mine would be the old theme from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Also on my phone: Street Hawk, Battle of the Planets (aka G-Force), Metal Gear Solid or Battlestar Galactica.

It's no wonder chicks dig me.

Hey no shame there pal, i also have Starsky and Hutch and The Six Million Dollar Man among others.

And Scott, pretty much any phone will take downloadable tones but its best to check, what make/model do you have? (Oh and i replied)

You need a compatible phone, first of all. Then, take a look at sites like <a href="http://www.zingy.com/" target="_blank">Zingy</a> or <a href="http://www.jippii.com/home/index.jsp" target="_blank">Jippii</a>. They should have a pretty self-explanatory system.

Basically, you choose the tone you want, tell them what phone you have, they send the tone via SMS text, and when it arrives you'll have the option to save it to your phone.

How do I know all this? Because for six hellish months, I was marketing manager for a CGI studio that thought ringtones and logos would be a great way to make extra money. They went bust.

Only one for me: Godfather theme.
Only one as well: Metal Gear Solid's main theme.
I've got Knight Rider theme as my main tone, with The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Theme as my tone for blocked numbers.

Also have Moe from the 3 Stooges yelling "Quiet Numbskulls, i'm broadcasting here!" whenever I get a voicemail-

and the Dude saying "Careful, man, I got a beverage here!" when I get a text.

Got a bunch of others, including audio clips from Beastie Boys's Brass Monkey and Ozzy's Crazy Train (nothing funnier than the look on people's faces when my cell phone yells out "ALL ABOARD! HAHAHA")

Yeah. You can find free ones, but they'll be shit. I've never paid for one in my life (can't see the point) so all the ones on my phone came from testing stuff at the place I used to work. I've never changed them since, but then I'm one of those pragmatists who thinks a mobile phone is for making calls.

My wife, on the other hand...

And no you don't have to pay if you hunt them out on the net.
I have an SPV powered by Microsoft (don't start) and you can get free dowloads from a host of sites including <a href="http://www.coolsmartphone.com" target="_blank">www.coolsmartphone.com</a>

I found a site with tons of options. They have rings and dialog. My favorite says "Brian, answer your telephone" with a sexy female voice.

<a href="http://www.2thumbz.com" target="_blank">Check it out here.</a>

I got all of mine from mbuzzy.com - that one seems to work the best if you use Sprint.

Games, images, and applications at the site too- some very cool stuff. You can even upload your own things.

The Imperial March, the five notes from Close Encounters, and Uncle Fucka from South Park, all programmed by hand since I'm too cheap to download them.

If I had a cellphone (don't want one), I'd maybe put the General Lee's distinctive "honk" sequence on it. Or just leave it as a standard ring. With everyone and their 11 year old daughter owning these damn things and personalising them like mad, the standard ringtone has actually become distinctive again.

P.S: I have a deep, deep pity for the gentleman who programmed in his own awful, tinny, beep-based rendition of the Terminator theme. Oh, the pain.

<a href="http://www.xingtone.com" target="_blank">http://www.xingtone.com</a>

That's all you need. You can basically create and edit your own ringtones (from any .wav or .mps on your computer) and have them sent right to your phone.

Like the others, though... it doesn't work with all phones.

All I have is the Liberty Bell March. (Monty Python's theme)
Just the one movie-related ringtone on mine. The theme from Candyman. And for some reason the theme from Luigi's Mansion.
Thanks to everyone in this thread for dirtying up the blessed silence with your cutesy ring tones. Isn't this the equivalent of putting cheesy MIDI music on your personal website?
Currently: All That Jazz from Chicago.

I also use Fraggle Rock, Bond, and Pink Panther.
I don't even know how to get special ringtones.

Me= n00b.
You have but to look near the top of this thread. Sadly my crapola Audiovox can get no ringtones.

Muppet Show Theme
Godfather Theme
James Bond Theme
"Rapper's Delight" by the Sugar Hill Gang

I haven't downloaded any for my most recent phone.
Oooh, I'd love to have the Muppet Show or Metal Gear Solid themes. I don't think my phone supports downloading ringtones. I use the 1812 Overture.
All mine are polyphonic too.

Bond. James Bond. Always gets a smile from people who hear it.

Didn't download - used the Compose option of my Nokia 3295.
I don't have any great ring tones but when I turn my phone on it plays the Harry Potter music.
Various ringers that mean various things on my phone:
The Our Man Flint ringer (also seen in Hudson Hawk and apparently Austin Powers. I've been told it was actually a British Telecom ringer from the 60's, but I haven't confirmed that.)
Godzilla Roaring
The Mad Cow soundbite (EeeeEEEEEEHAHAHAHAHAHA! MOO! MOO! HA! MOO!)
The Psycho Shower Scene music (good for telemarketers)
Stewie from Family Guy (aka, the Rex Harrison voice) "Damn you, vile woman!"

I have the Hitachi Sprint phone...with a very loud, crystal clear speaker.
I need to find the "Futurama" theme. Anyone have this or know where it can be had?
Add the Only Fools And Horses theme to my list.
