There is nothing worst than having your Iron Giant experience being ruined at 8pm at night, because a couple of jackasses across the street are for some reason doing some jackhammering. In a strange turn of event, I actually decided to take action against this retardedness, and I placed a complaint call to my city's by-law department and they said someone should be by shortly. Although I've worked for the by-law department before (but in another city), I have little faith that they'll show up before bedtime, and that I'm just going to have to go postal on this jackhammering son's of bitches.

After that, I'll be waiting for a different kind of officer to show up at my door.

I got you beat Justin, last Saturday a couple of teens were skateboarding at 12:30 a.m. and doing jumps off a self made ramps in our little neighbourhood, real geniuses.

Argg!

Teens!!! Is there anything more annoying?

How can cute little kids become obtuse self-centered teens, I wonder?

Gonna have to agree with Jabba on this. As a partaker in many festivities crashed by the authorities, I know from experience that: 1)Your neighbor will probably figure out who called down the thunder on him, 2) He will resent you for this and try harder to make things miserable for you, 3) Nothing ever comes from the authorities talking to them anyway(ie. cops rarely do a damned thing). Your best course of action is to politely ask them to stop and continue the jack hammering in the morning. People are generally respectful of your wishes if your have enough respect to ask them yourself.

Well, the jackhammering was happening at some small business complex across the street from me, and since I live in an apartment building right downtown Ottawa, I'm sure there were more than one complaint being called in against these construction workers.

About thirty minutes after calling the city, the noise finally stops, and a few minutes later, I get a phone call. My girlfriend answers, and she does all the talking, while I'm just overhearing her from the bedroom. Suddenly, I just hear her say 'But it wasn't loud music, it was construction!'. Turns out the guy from the city sent the police/by-law officers to the East end of my street, instead of the West, and by coincidence, the East address also had some loud sounds going on. At least I ended up being a neighbourhood hero somewhere.
