Awesome fan mail I got - Page 2

To be fair, if Mel Gibson made a movie about Moses and you got an e-mail from a devout Jew that was similar to this--would you do the same thing?

Then come back with some pithy and withering jokes about atheists and non-believers.
Of course then the non-believers get to point and say "See, that's how Christians act!"

I think it's easier just to realize there are jags on either side of the issue. Being a Christian doesn't instantly make you an asshole, but it certainly doesn't have a screening process to keep them out either. The same can be said for any belief (or lack thereof).

This has to be Devin's most read article ever. I had forgotten how funny the captions were.

Be a crutch on our message boards.

But you do reap the whirlwind for what you do make fun of.
Then come back with some pithy and withering jokes about atheists and non-believers. Don't just whine about being "offended". Or is your faith not strong enough to withstand some bad jokes about it?
I'm not whining. I'm just saying it's in bad taste to post this young lady's email like this. But there is nothing to stop bad taste from being posted and Lord knows the definition of bad taste can be quite varied from person to person.

And what's the point of coming back with equally in bad taste jokes? I'd rather not stoop myself to that level either.

And my faith is certainly strong enough to take a few bad and poor jokes.

The giant spider caption is the goods. Forgot about that.

That's another VERY good point.

See and I laughed at that one.

The one above it wasn't funny at all to me and the one above that is just not funny period.

But I did laugh at one of them.

Has anyone read the offending article yet?

I think that most Christians are hardly ever exposed to outspoken atheists, and usually travel in social circles of mostly like-minded people. They've never had to develop the thicker skin and sense of humor about themselves that many non-believers have been forced to. Then, when they see Christ or whatever being mocked on a message board they just plain overreact.

I respect people's right to believe whatever they want. Doesn't mean I have to respect the belief itself.

You know....making fun of something like that is bad. She had every right to be insulted by your making fun of the death of Jesus. And your response might be the most immature thing Ive ever read. You dont have any respect at all do you Devin? Im usually amused by you.....but sometimes, you pull shit like this.....and Im not.
Dylan's got it.

Good Lord and God Almighty!
I've yet to see the thing on this board that was off-limits. I thought that was the point.
If you don't like what was said, then argue your point. But stop this fucking complaining about the "anti-Christians" on CHUD.
You're right, some people have a beef with Christians. Some people have a problem with threads about casting the next Victor Salva movie. Some people have problems with Dr. Pepper.
It's not all a conspiracy. It's disagreement. If you are offended, go on the offensive or shut the fuck up.
But stop the fucking whining, for Christ's sake. And mine.

Read your own threads.

I still think it's funny that a movie insider spelled Peters name wrong.

Southern California will give you a thick skin.

In fact South Cali is full of people who would rather shout you down the moment you try and speak your "Christian" opinion than let you speak. funny I have to listen to their opinions all the time.

Needless to say California is another freaking world. Just the same as I realize Atlanta and such is another freaking world.

Sorry, Delude. My connection is as slow as your thought processes today. It takes forever for a new post to show for me.

I read it Dev and it didn't offend me one bit. The Easter Egg thing was humorous. The rest of it was OK but nothing worth writing home about. Certainly not worth shooting the author an angry email about.

I suppose if I found anything distasteful it was Devin's response to her email. That was just plain sophomoric and very un-funny.

Also, I apologize for making such a sweeping generalization about CHUD. That's not cool.
But I can't believe some of you people still adore that "point and laugh" high school type of behavior. Please, just grow up. That woman was more than tactful and respectful in her e-mail. She represents one of the few Christians who can do that, have the right heart when approaching an offensive situation. She didn't condemn Devin or anyone. There was no hate in that letter.

You all paint with broad strokes as well. You throw around the word "Christian" like you actually know what it means. I guarantee, you don't. Simply put, just show some respect. Everyone deserves it, not everyone earns it. For the people who earn it, as that young woman did, give them the respect they are due. At the least.

Yeah, sometimes rabid comic book fanbases have a sense of humor.
I think CT, Momo, Paly, Thomas, adn myself all have great senses of humor. We still post here don't we?

Remember when Devin started that thread whining about anti-semitic slurs? That was funny.
Good discussion, but it has moved more to Religion now, so that's where this thread is going.
Devin, I have a true for false question for you: Jews are as dumb for their religious beliefs as Christians are for theirs.

Feel free to answer with more than just true or false.
