As we all know today is April 1st and with that day comes a tradition to play pranks on folks.. And for me it's been a long long time since anyone played a really good joke on me.. So I'm wondering if any of you had any hum dingers today? Or if not today in the past have you had any really good pranks pulled on you? Also Have you ever gotten someone real good?

Colour me curious..

Nothing going on here, but my wife and some co-conspirators turn one of their manager's offices into a beach, complete with 100 pounds of sand strewn across the floor.

Several Januaries ago, I was moved to Houston for a job.
On April 1st, they told me my job no longer existed and they wanted to keep me, but had no place to PUT me. What's more, because I hadn't been there 6 mnths, I didn't qualify for a package.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a prank.

Last year I used the net_send feature in a DOS window to send a message to a female co-worker friend on a different floor. The message looked rather official I suppose, although I think I left good hints that it was a prank in the message but it basically stated that her surfing of a male porn site had been logged and would be sent to her manager. I immediately sent a friend of hers down to watch what went down and play damage control.
Little did I know that she actually had been visiting a questionable site earlier in the day and her conscience must have been weighing on her. The instant she got the message (and before the damage control friend could arrive) she was in her manager's office confessing and hoping to explain things.
She still won't look me in the eye.

It wasn't April Fools, but a few months back, a friend of mine called me freaking out because his old high school girlfriend had tracked him down to see how he was doing. She emailed him out of nowhere, nevermind that he now lives across the country and this probably took some pretty good detective work on her part since they haven't had any contact since the mid-90's. This concerned him, since she was a wee bit crazy.

They emailed once or twice, your basic "here's what I'm doing now, nice to hear from you" kind of stuff.

I immediately dropped what I was doing, set up an email account in her name, emailed him and said "Hey Tim, let's get married and have a bunch of babies!"

Twenty minutes later, my work phone rings, and from across the country, my buddy screams "You want to die, don't you!?" He said he'd never been more scared in his life.

My finest hour.

Last year, I took a plate of chocolate covered cotton balls to work and just left them on a table in the middle of my call center. Since people tend to walk around alone or in pairs, it was a target-rich environment, and I nailed about a dozen co-workers with a mouthful of disappointment.

There wasn't enough turnover for me to get away with it this year, but I'll definitely try it again.

Best method is to buy a few bags of semi-sweet chocolate chips (I used Hershey) and melt them in a saucepan over low heat, and stir constantly.

Be sure to dip your finger and taste-test BEFORE you start the coating process to avoid falling for your own gag. My first two came out bad, and had a large base which tended to crack open after they cooled when I tried lifting them from the plate. It's an art really, getting the ball completely smothered while keeping the "base" as tiny as possible.

Towards the end, I used a toothpick and made nice swirly patterns to make them more tempting.

Damn, we needed a thread like this a week ago, to plan gags, share ideas, and post the results.

The only thing that people did to me yesterday were a bunch of lame lies followed by "April Fools!". I tried to explain to them that the point of April Fool's Day is not to tell stupid lies as a "joke", but to play actual pranks on them. I then demonstrated by rolling them down a staircase.

Newsaskews' new News section reminds me of that episode of the Simpsons when Homer made his own website which just had all these noise making graphics things he stole from other websites.
AICN posted a fake review for this weeks 24 saying Kim would die and someone from the first season would come back.

Something tells me pranks just aren't that high on people's lists of important things to do with a War going on.

Oh, and is your refridgerator running?
