Trigun's own man of the cloth provided my name. His character was pretty interesting as well as his awesome Cross Punisher weapon, plus his last name starts with same later as my real name...

...and the irony is i'm neither a christian or religious, lol.
Yes, but you still chose a damn cool name from a damn fine series.

If that's true, it's the funniest thing I've ever heard. If it's not true, it's still the funniest thing I've ever heard. Classic.

forgive me for my general Japanimation ignorance, but this "Voltes 5" stuff bears a striking resemblance to the "Voltron" I cut my teeth on...

Am I completely off base on this assumption?

My explanation is fairly mundane I'm afraid:

Years ago, I penned a particularly stinging match-report for the sports site that I run - criticising several players and their coach for near-criminal ineptitude.

At the next game's post-match press-conference, the coach grabbed hold of me and screamed that I was a ****** ****-sucking ********!!!!’ with all the charms of Agent Orange.

Kinda stuck really...

D'oh! Forgot about them - we didn't have cable at that time!

I have insomnia and do most of my posting in the early hours of the morning. So I try make nicknames out of this.

I orginally signed up on CHUD as Wideasleep (a name I still prefer) did one post then left to go on a vacation. When I got back I couldn't for the life of me remember my password so I registered again but as Sleeplesslumber. I've wanted to get back into and post under my first nickname for a long time but have posted so much under this name now that I don't want to lose my post total in the prosses.

I use to go by Sundance at forums but have found that this often confuses people and they assume I'm in some way associated with the Sundance Film Festival. Actually got tagged it in High School due to my film fanaticism.

JenGe is short for Jennifer and is also my daughter Genevie's nickname. Much easier to "splain."

I was nascartv, fan of nascar, initials tv, Talena Velez. Kind of boyish, figured I'd change for a while....
Now:
Sutifut, a tribute to our siamese cats. It looks as if they stepped in soot. Hence the name sutifut.

Chavez, unbeknownst to most, I develop a nervous twitch and proceed to smash peoples' heads that are just about an arm's reach away when people say "Voltron" -- and especially when they COMPARE that heinous robot to the much ultra-superior "Voltes 5." And don't get into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Morphin Power Rangers -- or whatever the hell they're called.

So, yes, you are completely off base!

<regains composure>

Seriously, Voltron is a rip-off of Voltes 5. Interestingly enough, Voltes 5 is an update of another anime of the 5 ships-to-1 robot anime. Anyway, Voltes 5 only have 40 episodes, but they are all of high-quality. Like Gatchaman ("Battle of the Planets") and <groans> Voltron, the archetypal stock characters are as follows: 2 men always at odds with each other, 1 female, 1 kid, and 1 fat guy.

Anyway, I loved Voltes 5 and the way he would announce his attacks. One of them is "Ultraelectromagnetic Top!!!" (2 metallic spike tops eject from his belly while he uses his belt as a whip to apply centrifugal force on the tops.) Then of course, his final weapon, the "Laser Sword!!!!!" (and a hearty "damn you" to Voltron!)

Rip-off or not, I grew up on Voltron (and the Ninja Turtles, thank you much) and I'll slaughter all who oppose it!
I cut the cheese in your direction.
I'll give in on the Voltron deal, but the Ninja Turtles? How can you mock the Ninja Turtles? Good God man... that's inhuman!

King of the Hill. I tend to draw my sigs from television, though every now and then I'll take one from movies or anime.

Hey! Don't rag on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! I don't even know how you get from Voltes to TMNT. Power Rangers, okay, but not TMNT.
I loved the Turtles. I was just mocking the name of the "Mighty Morphin' (don't forget the apostrophe!) Power Rangers." But then again, there's that Vanilla Ice and "The Ninja Rap".....

----------

YO! It’s the green machine -- Gonna rock the town without bein’ seen
Have you ever seen a turtle Get Down? -- Slammin’ Jammin’ to the new swing sound
Yeah, everybody let’s move -- Vanilla is here with the new Jack Groove
Gonna rock, and roll this place -- With the power of the ninja turtle bass
Iceman, ya know I’m not playin’ -- Devistate the show while the turtles are sayin:

Chorus:
Ninja, Ninja, RAP! Ninja, Ninja, RAP!
GO GO GO
Go Ninja, Go Ninja, GO; Go Ninja, Go ninja, GO!
Go Ninja, Go Ninja. GO; Go Ninja, Go ninja, GO!
GO GO GO GO

Lyrics, fill in the gap -- Drop that bass and get the NINJA RAP
Feel it, if you know what I mean -- Give it up for those heroes in green
Just flowin, smooth with the power -- Kickin’ it up, hour after hour
Cause in this life there’s only one winner -- You better aim good so you can hit the center
In it to win it, with a team of four -- Ninja Turtles that you gotta adore it’s the:

Chorus

Villians, you better run and hide -- Because one day you might not slide
Choose your weapon but don’t slip -- Vanilla’s in control with the flex of the mic grip
Rockin’ the crowd the way it should be rocked -- With the Miami drop that you like alot
Hittin like a Ninja Turtle when the bass kicks in -- You better check your level
The power of the Ninja is strong -- Fightin’ all the crooks until they’re all out cold
post #68 of 79
Yeah, but the ninja rap is so awful it's good. Besides, my love for TMNT it more towards the cartoon than the movies.

My name is kind of uncreative I guess. I was in a bit of a hurry so I thought fast. I love werewolves, they are my favorite kind of monster and I am interested in metamorphosis. So I had my first word, then I thought to myself, 'well I'm a girl, I guess people should know this fact. So then I typed in Werewolf Girl. But something just didn't look right. So I thunk to myself that it might be really clever if I changed the I in girl to a U. So I said neato! And typed it in and thus a legend was born.

Story behind Connigit:

Many years ago I was trying to think of a name for this website called Arcadium, which was basically a website for gamers, with a messageboard and a chatroom. Everything I tried to pick was taken, so finally, having just seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail, I typed in "Connigit", thinking of the scene with the french knight "Silly english connigits!"

It was about a year later that I realized that was the french dude trying to pronounce KNIGHTS. Oops. The name stuck, and I used it for everything. I haven't been using it lately, but since I had signed up for this board a year ago, I figured i'd keep it.

and now you know.
