Pics of your neighborhoods.

I was going to revive <a href="http://66.118.172.75/board/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=66&t=000208&p=" target="_blank">THIS THREAD</a>, but I didn't feel like making people wade through a page or two of text and no pics.

Here's my "Post a pic of your neighborhoods/houses" thread...

I took these today after our first snowfall. This is my first winter in this house, so I kinda felt like taking some pics.

I just realized it's snowing again outside...BIG too...

My house from the east facing west-north-west.

<img src="http://www.cusher.net/images/1stsnow2_thumb.jpg" alt="" />

From my front porch looking right.

<img src="http://www.cusher.net/images/streetright_thumb.jpg" alt="" />

And now left.

<img src="http://www.cusher.net/images/streetleft_thumb.jpg" alt="" />

Here's a nice shot of a fire I built today...I'll link to a bigger pic that I am now using as a desktop wallpaper...

<img src="http://www.cusher.net/images/fireplace_thumb.jpg" alt="" />

<a href="http://www.cusher.net/images/fireplace.jpg" target="_blank">Click here foran 800x600 version.</a>

Hope you guys can add yours as well...I know there was a thread around that had some pics, but I was sick of looking.

This is nice. I don't know you guys, but it's nice to see anyway. I can't seem to figure out how to post a picture. I know how to create the Jpeg at 72 dpi, and it is sitting on the desktop of my computer, but since it is not on a web site, I don't know the next step. I am using a Mac, system 9.1, but I have access to a PC with Windows Millenium. Does anyone have a bit of time to post the steps to this process?

Needs to be on a server, and then you post the URL to the image between img tags

email me your picture, Anne. I'll host it, and post it. Then you can look at the post in which I do so for the syntax. (You could press the "reply with quote" key on any post with a picture to see the syntax, but you will need to have the image you post hosted.)

Oh my gosh, I just figured out what PM means! At first, I thought it was a joke regarding my post on chud abbreviations. I found out by accident when I checked my e-mail. I read your message. I have to go now, but thanks. I will read what you wrote more carefully tomorrow.

Sometime after the move, I'll post pics in here. We have pics now, but I'm not sure they'll get posted before we move, between packing, moving electronics before the movers get there, shooting the cats...er, gettting the booster shots for the cats....
post #31 of 60
I have never met someone who enjoyed the job of moving. I do hope you enjoy it when you finally get a chance to arrange all your stuff the way you want it. Just think, a new home base for Chud! Anyway, I'll leave you alone, and I hope the cats are ok with the move.
post #32 of 60
On the picture posting...it finally worked, only when I copied and pasted the line directly from Coyote's e-mail.

post #33 of 60
The cats are getting moved over Fri night before, to get used to the place, and I'll spend the night over there with 'em. But because we're on the edge of a bayou, they're getting the boosters today at home, and taking them in to the vet next week for rabies boosters. They HATE moving...Mercutio (think Jones from Alien) goes catatonic, and Tybalt (a korat...give a russian blue the body of a siamese and the strength of 10 men) goes spastic and sounds like we're tortturing him. You know, that grate-on-yernerves MerOUGH noise from hell?
I'm not having fun moving. Keep wishing it was the 12th, so we'd be "done." (There's still the cleaning of the other place at that point, and anything left behind because it wasn't packed yet.

No kidding! Listen, I got my new cat a year ago from the animal shelter, and he grew into this tremendously strong cat. My husband and I tried to restrain him so we could give him a pill and he kicked our asses. We could not overpower him. So, I looked in the cat breed book to find a picture that looked just like him, and guess what breed it was...KORAT! Lord, if he was our size, he would rule the world. Yes, they do have the gorgeous lavender-grey color, like a Russian blue.

I was wondering if Anne had told me something and I had completely missed it wink

Korats (the royal cat of Siam) would often ride on the shoulders of warrior nobility and lauch themselves at the enemy.
They're rather rare in the US, and are one of the purest breeds out there...pedigree Korat owners are exceedingly anal about no cross-breeding. Yet, ironically, my korat is also an abandoned cat who walked up to me and said "Take me in, damnit!" Turns out one of the other folks in the complex just left him, and no one knows why. We thought he was a skinny russian blue at first. Highly affectionate, very intelligent, and mucho social. (Only thing I can figure is he's not a pure breed, although there's no sign at all of any other breed in there. But these cats are expensive, and from a greed angle alone I can't see someone just abandoning him if he wasn't from an accidently mixed litter and the breeder sold them cheap.)

Or someone just didn't know what they had. I hate anybody who just dumps an animal, but most people aren't able to differentiate between a Russian Blue and a Persian, simply because they don't care, or aren't familiar enough.

I think she's confused between us. Kinda odd, since I'm Italian, and you're apparently canine.

The Coyote Walks On Two Legs & Has Many Skins.

"Or someone just didn't know what they had. I hate anybody who just dumps an animal, but most people aren't able to differentiate between a Russian Blue and a Persian, simply because they don't care, or aren't familiar enough."
Except the question is how did they get him if he's 100% korat, without knowing...since korat owners are so anal about the offspring that new owners are required by "the community" to sign a piece of paper that says "I will treat the cat with respect, never harm the cat, only let the cat breed with other Korats,etc"...that's what I meant by that comment wink

Somebody post a pic of their house before I start to feel guilty about hijacking the thread again...

I want to see a picture of Tybalt, the cat with the strength of 10 men! Sounds like a cool dude...for a fur person.

Anyone want a house in Albuquerque...I just moved to Colorado Springs (haven't unpacked very much...just my bed, computer, TV and DVD player)?No one wants to buy the house in ABQ. I don't want it either...

Awesome. I did learn something about my cat, and I got that picture up, even if I did confuse two Chewers with each other. Now I know, Kid Ego is from Tulsa, and Coyote is the one who is moving, who lives on a Bayou, in Texas.
By the way, when I adopted my cat, the animal shelter told me that he had been abandoned in a field next to an apartment complex...and he is vocal, too! I think we know when a cat has a lot of Korat in him, just like I knew my old cat was 1/2 Manx and 1/2 Siamese: "Manxamese"; no mistaking the cobby body and a host of other strange characteristics of the manx, and the blue eyes and points prove the Siamese part.

Pics of Tybalt & Mercutio can be seen in The Chewer's Pets thread:
<a href="http://chud.com/board/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=66&t=000057&p=" target="_blank">http://chud.com/board/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=66&t=000057&p=</a>

Unfortunately, Liquid2k won't let anyone log in (error contecting to DB, they've had "Liquid2k.com is undergoing new changes, we are trying to add, a new cluster please bare with us while this change is implemented thank you" up for well over a month(s?) now, and the link to contact them leads to a 404 error msg...with an ad to join Liquid2k!), so I'm going to use someone else to post my neighborhood pics. Probably Hastur.

post #50 of 60
This is a winter Camelia (Camelia sasanqua "Kanjiro") from my front yard. It is not a large or spectacular bloom compared to the more common spring camelia (Camelia japonica), but it sure is nice to have in the middle of winter. I just had to get up close and catch it. An even prettier one, white/pink-tinged, is the "Apple Blossom" winter camelia. For our British Chewers, this should work well in your gardens, as your climate is similar to the Pacific Northwest.
