CHUDSTORIES Announcement Thread

With Micah's permission, we're creating this thread to keep everybody informed about what's going down in CHUDstories land.

Basically, it's dying. Nobody visits the forum (it averages about one visitor every two days). Nobody submits stories. We haven't had a new story posted in...what?...four months?

And that's a shame, because there's some GREAT stuff in CHUDstories. Go read Nick's story of a giant shark on the rampage, or Johnny Butane's twisted tale about a biting baby, or Dan Whitehead's kickass story about an antique that holds the key to immortality, or countless other cool rides. CHUDstories is really one of the sections that helps set CHUD apart from other movie websites...it's written by us, it's written for us, and it's a helluva lot of fun for everybody involved.

And we want to bring it back in style. Unbreathless and myself are going to be helping Coyote with the editing duties, and we want to get this ball rolling again. Please check out <a href="http://chud.com/board/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=67;t=000159" target="_blank">THIS THREAD</a> for the latest story assignments, and then get to work. This is a great chance to hone your writing skills and get some great feedback on your work, and it'll be fun. I promise.

In the future, Coyote, Unbreathless and myself will use this thread to announce new story assignments and to let everybody know when new stories are posted. We're excited about this, and I hope some of you folks are as well.

You can either contact whoever was rewriting it and see if they will pass it on to one of the three editors, or just resend it directly to one of us. We'll get it up.

As for writing what you like, feel free. As long as it's good, we'll be happy to edit and post it for you. The suggestions like "Twisted Childhood" or "The Cutting Room Floor" are just meant to spark ideas and give writers a few guidelines to streamline their work. But it's definitely not a "Write what we tell you to write or it doesn't get posted" scenario. You want to do paranormal? Go for it. I (and the other editors) will be happy to help any way we can.

"Beulah Hooks the Big One" is a hopefully funny story from me set in the "Jaws" universe.

"Bring Your Own" is from y.t., a creepy little story about what happens when the wrong person walks through the door of your local bar. It's based on a cult classic horror movie from the 80's...see if you can guess the flick without cheating.

I haven't read "Dawn" yet, by Jay Reel, but I plan to do so as soon as possible. Give it a shot.

And finally, "FamCo Calling" is Scott Standridge's sharp horror tale about the most terrifying creatures of all...telemarketers.

Please take a minute to read some or all of the stories, folks. And if you liked what you saw, please let the authors know. I've created separate discussion threads for all four stories in the CHUDSTORIES forum, which is now directly below this one. Give these guys a few kind words...they've earned it.

And this will hopefully just be the beginning for CHUDSTORIES. We need your stories, we need your feedback, and we need your enthusiasm. CS is kicking ass again, and I hope everyone else is enjoying it just as much as I am.
