Your thoughts on meeting other Chewers

Thread Starter
I have met quite a few Chewers (even had one as a roommate). Actually, I have met A LOT of people off the internet. I've even had sexual relations with some of them.

However... I do feel that I am somewhat picky with who I want to meet off here. There are more people that I want to meet, and it would be nice if there were more very cool Chewers in NYC, and I liked the one Coffee Meeting I was at, but I would never want to do something like that regularly.

How about you guys? And are you willing to travel to meet Chewers?

I've met only one chewer, and since it was a great experience, I'm more than willing to do it again. I'd probably be picky too, and so would we all, since we all have people with whom we feel more affiliations than others.

And of course I'd be willing to travel to do so, given my location, that's pretty much an obligation.

I'd be happy to meet other chewers if we happened to be in the same location, but sadly I don't have the means to transport myself great distances for meetings.

Travel? Depends.

I would never fly into Atlanta just to tour The Mothership or play tambourine on a Package album. But if it was some event where other Chewers just happened to be at...if it held some interest outside of simply hangin' with CHUD folk...then maybe, sure.

Like San Diego. I'd do that...someday.

Meeting one Chewer...like Pollock and Swedish Kroner...was fine. Course we're friends off the boards. But whenever I was confronted by more...and introduced as "Django..." I'd be lying if I said that it wasn't weird.

Stuff like going to Will's was...off. Having people come up to me wanting to meet me at Fangoria...was a little off at first.

Like...why would they care to meet me? I'm not that cool.

But you get over it I guess. In time...

Just had a CHUDenver with Blofeld and Zazu.

I would do more meeting of you all in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't mind meeting some chewers. I think it would be pretty cool actually, even though I don't really know anyone. Some friends and I try to travel to Atlanta every year for the Saints/Falcons game, so maybe next football season...

I may be the only Chewer who is a little uneasy about meeting other Chewers.
I'm happy to just secretly follow people around and watch them through binoculars for a few months, wanking like a naughty little monkey.

That was you? Christ in a fucking bucket...

I wouldn't be bothered. And if I had the cash, I would, at some point, probably make a point to visit some. I have with other net friends (and yes, done the sexual relations thing).

Only trouble is, so many of you are across the pond. Which is why the only person I've met is Dan. Not that he wasn't great, of course. Ahem.
I wouldn't mind meeting a lot of you. However, if traveling were involved, it would have to be a location like a con or something. Just in case we couldn't stand each other's company, there'd be something else for me to do...

Frankly, the mere idea of DOING THIS with a internet stranger creeps the living hell out of me.

Seeing how I've only encountered the unbeatable army of the DJEvil, I must say I want to meet more Chewers. Hopefully, I'll drop by Atlanta sometime for a Coffee meeting on my way to college.

I've been to one coffee meeting. Everyone was very friendly and everything, but I nevertheless still felt like an outsider looking in. Mostly my fault, after hitting 40 I seem to be more age-conscious than ever, and I just felt older than all those bright-eyed, clean-cut, sober people.

I wouldnt travel far to meet chewers, but, like SC or GA id do.

Bateman, that was fucking fantastic. my favorite shockwave ever, I think...

As for travelling to see other chewers... hmm. gotta think about that one. I'd go to a gathering in the UK, maybe...

I think it is funny as hell.

My hesitation from meeting other Chewers is more from personal insecurity than anything - I'm pretty self-confident, but the thought of not "living up to" (or worse might be living down to) someone's perception of me from CHUD would have me feeling somewhat self-conscious for at least the early part of the day/night.

I have only met DJEvil.

I wouldn't mind meeting other Chewers. Mostly because I want to know what they think of me in person. Maybe I'll meet the Atlanta Crew. Someday...

The few Chewers I have met were absolutely fabulous people. I honestly believe that if you are a regular Chewer, you can't be bad.

As for picking and choosing who you meet, what's the point? If you have the opportunity to go to a gathering (like a coffee meeting or BBQ event), go. It's just one time. No one is forcing you to be best friends with these folks afterward, but at least you get to put faces to names.

I would definitely be choosier about meeting someone on a one-on-one basis due to safety reasons.

As for traveling, if I have the time and money I'll be there.

I'd be excited to meet any of the CHUD regulars. Get to meet one T Ryan in a few days. Looking forward to that.

Kick him in the balls for me....

...Who loves ya, Tony?

I keep meaning to go to a coffee meeting, but I live way downtown and it's a bit of a drive. Add the fact that I stay up really late on Friday and Saturday night and you've got a recipe for sleeping in. I need my rest for the Saturday night poker game I run, which can go on forever. This weekend I started the game up at 830pm and it ended at 430am. That's a lot of poker to be playing on a couple hours of sleep.

But one day I'm going to do it!

Now if it was the Saturday morning poker game...?

I'd do it in a heartbeat. Hoping to do that very thing this spring.

I'd do it in a heartbeat as well.

I'll meet you, Devin. But you're picking up the check.
I don't mind meeting Chewers...just don't buy cheap Scotch.
Perish the thought!
I've liked pretty much all the chewers I've met so far. Except for Dave Davis. The shirts. Oh my God, the shirts...
so, um, that would be a big YES for meeting chewers. in groups.
