The thread for the chewers who don't really fit in

I've been here for a good deal of time, but I stick to pretty much one forum (although I read them all) and for the amount of time I've been here I don't post too much. It is kind of odd seeing the community that has developed here yet never really being a part of it.

This is for all the guys who read the boards, and occasionally post but are never mentioned. We aren't liked that much, though I doubt we are despised. We are the guy you remember from high school who you always ran into...but never talked to. So if you feel in any way like me, feel free to post. We may not be the most vocal, but we are Chewers nonetheless.

Sounds like me.

Guys, don't be silly. You're both great contributors wherever you decide to post at.

If there was ever a thread I belonged in...

I'll join the group too, but I'm not looking for anyone's sorrow.

Lots of times the only forum I'm ever heard on is Music. I'm not bitter at all...not everyone on CHUD can be a Devin or a Micah or a SJR or especially a Nick-those guys have earned the respect they get. I'm one of those guys with a higher post count for someone who's only been around for a little bit more than a year and yet nobody really knows me. That's okay though maybe if I start creating worthwhile threads instead of just replying(I made quite a few threads in the first 4 months but after that not too many)...I guess you get what you give.
That being said I enjoy CHUD no matter if 6 or 500 people know me. I've made some friends here and not too many enemies(to my knowledge). At the end of the day, that's good enough.

I'm just a square peg trying to fit into a round hole.

I think you guys misinterpreted my post. Im not depressed about this, I just wanted to create a thread where the people who are not a big part of Chud but who have been here a while can post. I could post more if I wanted to, but I dont. I just think there should be a place in the Chewers forum for us as well.
Can I join? I think most of you will agree with me when I say I don't want to kiss someone's ass just because they have 5000 posts. No offense to any of you with 5000+ posts.
I think you can count me in this group...
Does anyone else find it funny that people are posting in this thread about not posting very much?

No offense meant to any of you in here- believe it or not, I recognise and respect you all.
I thought it was more funny that it took nearly 10 hours to get a reply going on in here. For a while there, I was thinking that this would be the thread about 'chewers who are ignored' that got ingnored.
I also find it funny that all that have posted are such great contributors to little community we have going here.

This is true.

Aside from the site contributors and some of the other folks with what I'd call "gimmicks" (I don't mean that in a negative way, either - just personal traits that function as mnemonic devices) we're all in the same boat as far as recognizability goes. Most of us belong in this thread, which is why it probably wouldn't occur to everyone to post here.
I agree with Dave. Furthermore, in real life, I don't think I'd ever fit in with any of you. Except maybe with the old fuddy duddy, Jacob Singer. (I love you Singer. I kid cause I love.)
I'm not sure I fit in yet, but I have been trying to make better posts, as of late.

I really think the majority of people at chud are intellegent, witty, and well spoken. I hope that you all will accept me, because I am hooked and will be around for a while, as I hope everyone else is.

a tear, a tear
Count me out, everyone loves me and I rock!
I posted in this thread because I felt that the majority of my posts do go unnoticed. Perhaps my posts are too long, or I join a thread too late in the game, but I've always felt that at least I post intelligent stuff. I've NEVER added a LOL, or such a thing to any thread, and I don't believe that I've ever poluted a thread in any which way.

It's just that there have been many threads where I've noticed I've gone unnoticed. Last year, Nick started doing a 'Best of Sewer Chewer' threads, and he'd post 4-5 chewers per list, and then people would comment. I remember being the only chewer that was chosen by Nick to not have anyone mention anything about me. That makes me wonder if he's the only one here who actually reads, and enjoys my stuff.

But like I mentioned earlier in this thread, I'm not here to ask for anyone's pity. I always feel like the oddman out in real life anyways, and I'm always better off in small groups of people. I keep posting at Chud because I enjoy it, and I hope that others enjoy my posts as well. But oftentimes, I have wondered whether it was actually worth continuing, and if I actually fit in here. But no matter how hard I were to try to get Chud out of my system, it just kept dragging me back here by its tentacles.

Not sure if you care, but I notice and appreciate your posts and contributions here very much. Just wanted to speak up, as too often we reserve posting for negativity instead of compliments or positive response. Keep up the good work, man!

[edited 'cause Rylander beat me, grrrrr]

I don't think I misunderstood the post. I do feel like one of the outsiders but I know why. And there's really nothing wrong with that-so consider me a part of the team. Basically, I feel the same way Captain Supermarket does. And btw Capt, I notice you around here...especially in the Music forum!

Would this be an appropriate thread for a Hollow Man joke?
I'm in a post-whorish mood. 2, count them, 2 posts in the same day.

By the way, for what it's worth, I know just how the good Cap'n feels.

Okay, I need to rest after all this strenuous posting.

If there's one thing about CHUD that makes me feel alienated, it's the crazy 'chud clique' threads were the usual suspects get mentioned and praised and whatnot.

I guess just color me pissed off because I haven't made a contribution like the others. Oh well...
I'm only visible in the music forum, but even in there I sometimes feel overlooked. On the other hand, even Music God Micah has trouble convincing the people in there to try something besides Weezer or Radiohead...

Thats kind of what I meant by this thread. This was the thread for all the people who dont get mentioned in the other threads. Where we can talk about each other.
I would certainly say I fit this category. I'm a big film fan and enjoy many of the discussions on this site, but my online time is mostly spent elsewhere, so I only contribute in spurts. Moreover, with a handful of exceptions, I just really don't get anything out of most "genre" films, and that focus has always been CHUD's raison d'etre.

But I'll keep coming back whenever I get the chance to do so.
I bet the old-timers are getting a real charge out of this thread. Its always cool to see a little sub-culture grow out of this whole message board community thang. To those that feel neglected, say it with me now, "I will live to see another day!" There is life beyond the computer screen, I've seen it, and it tastes wonderful.
My fellow losers, I will lead us to salvation. No longer will we be oppressed by our elder Chud brethren. No longer will we be blasted for our post counts. No longer will we cower in fear of being eaten alive by the Chud geezers. We will be heard. We will make them take notice. The time for change is at hand. I will make a stand and fight the powers that be. This is our time. We will not be silenced. So my friends,....Who will stand and fight with me?

I guess this thread was started because of people being left off of those lists, and that shouldn't make anyone feel badly. Let the popular kids have their pagents. Us guys we'll just meet out back and start filling some buckets with pigs' blood. Seriously though, the board is a great place because, for the most part, the posts submitted here are quality and worth reading.

I don't get these kinda posts, I hope they are for joke purposes. I mean really, what are they trying to accomplish? If you complain about being a loser you only look like more of a loser, and I don't think thats gonna win anyone over. Remember highschool? Remember what cool is? Cool is not trying to be cool, not realizing it, not acknowledging the fact your cool. Post often, post intelligently, and post strongly, then people will come to you.

Shhhh!...I've almost got them following me. Do not listen to this heathen! We need war! Blood is the only thing that will make them listen!....Blood!!!
People want to belong, Kirby. Where's the dynamic of discourse if no one listens or pays attention to you? The lovefest threads praise the "popular" people while alienating the "non-popular" people. It is like high school. Life is a big high school. It ain't gonna change.
Its happening because the plebs are uniting, its a revolution! The era of Nick, Mikah, Devin, Django, etc. etc. etc. will fall! Blah, Blah, Blah,... Geez louise chewer people...

I don't think alot of new people realize that many of the old faces new each other post CHUD.

Advice to newbies:

Be arrogant, belligerent, and persistent. Talk to these people like you've known them all your life, they'll come around.

(thats when you attack!)

This has indeed been an interesting trend lately.

I really wasn't intending my reply to indicate I thought there was a high school dynamic going on here. I've never felt ostracized at CHUD. I just don't come here much, and at least part of that is there are wide areas of taste in popular culture where I don't find a whole lot of common ground with the majority here.

That said, there has also always been a politics to this place, in terms of personal sniping and the like, that I think tends to give off the impression that the forums are divided up into a variety of "teams" (New York vs. Atlanta, conservative vs. liberal, religious vs. atheist) that I haven't ever been able to fully comprehend.

Oddly enough, the people whose posts I've generally enjoyed reading over the years (Kirby, Kronos, Devin, Will, Blofeld, Adam Warren, voltes, HAM and so forth) often are those who seem really not to like each OTHER.

FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! Thats what I get for not reading over my posts. For those that actually read my post it should be "Pre-CHUD"... Awe fuck it, I'm not going to change it, it wouldn't be as funny... wink

It happens every year. And every year I complain that the praise threads hurt people's feelings and I got scolded for being a party pooper. Well, this year I just gave up and joined in the fun.

Plus, I have my own "Diva Fan Club" this year, so nyah!
