Put in my offer on what would be the perfect house for my little family.

Wish me luck.
Best of luck!
Call this crazy, but I really do have a feeling you're getting it.

Best of luck in doing so, but I think congratulations will be in order soon.
Best of luck Kitty. I hope it works out for you. **obligatory good luck flash**
post #5 of 48
Best of luck. How many other offers were there?
Good luck, kitty! Fingers are crossed. Let us know where to send the housewarming gifts.

Mine is the third.

I wish you all the luck in the world, kitty!

Of course, I have a stake in this. Because if you get it, I'm flying out for the house warming party!

As well you should.

All would be invited.

Thanks for the well-wishes, loveys. You don't know how much I appreciate each and every one. This is a big, scary step for me.
Adding my good luck wishes as well. Fingers crossed for you.
Good luck! If you think it's the perfect house for you, that means you'll be getting it.

So what are real estate values like in Dallas? $200,000.00 or so?
Good luck.

I suggest walking around your future neighborhood and seeing what it's like at various parts of the day.

For the first two houses we were interested in...there were these kids in their garages next door trying to get it on in the Funk Master Flex kind of way. Thankfully, we recinded those offers and eventually found a nice quiet place.

This is listing at $103,900.00 This is on the low side of the scale. I am aware of three properties in Colleyville, close to my parents, that are going for five MILLION.

Some people just have too much money.

(edited to fix quote)

Wow... how many square feet?

My potential or the outrageously expensive ones?
Yours. Also the $5 million ones, if you know.
Good luck, kitty. Homes soooo beat apartment life.

The home I bid on is a spit over 1900 square feet.

Here is one of the listings in Colleyville. prepare to be disgusted
post #22 of 48
Holy shit...and I think having to drop $240K on 10 acres will suck.
1900 square feet on .5 - .75 an acre would run you around 190 - 200 here depending on the neighborhood. With a 45 minute commute you can get down to 150 maybe.
1900???... Damn...

Our's is slightly less than 1300, listed at over 350K.

CA real estate prices suck...
Best of luck, Kitty! I'm hoping on taking the plunge into home ownership next year.

Damn, I HATE my tiny two-bedroom apartment. Lack of space is the only reason why I don't have my widescreen HDTV, since my employer is still waiting to deliver a 43" Hitachi that I won thanks to my sales last year.

If my real estate appraisal business takes off, I may be able to move before the end of the year.

OOOoOoo...maybe there will be a CHUD Tejas after all wink

[URL won't work.]

House prices in Canada are dollar for dollar(a $4 home in Canada is a $4 in the US), and Canadian real estate(Victoria, Vancouver, Toronto) is a good investment if you're spending American. About 220k to for 1800 w/ good location, about as cheap as one should go in Victoria. My folks bought at 185k 12 years ago(+ sweat equity), and they're selling for 430k. And as more people retire, it's only going up.

A really eccentric guy(local) built the thing right on the tip of Ten Mile point. Totally custom. Yours for a smidgen under 7 million. To be honest, that 's a bargain. In ten years it will be worth twice that.

I'm on top, of course.

Dammit. I think if you click on properties and open a new window, it'll work.

Does anyone know how to get geocities pics to work?

I'm with Rath on this. I would like to send you a homewarming gift Kitty so please list somethings you would like and most imporatantly where to send them. (I'm sure you don't want your home addy made public so how about emailing the addy?)

If you are uncomfortable with this Kitty...I fully understand
post #40 of 48
Mine is a condo with 969 (w/basement) and was $143,000. But it's also about twenty blocks from downtown, and Portland real estate is pricey
post #41 of 48
Congrats kitty! I hope you're as happy in your place as I've been in mine.

As for real estate prices around the country, man, I love livin' here - payed 104k for a 1 1/2 story, full basement, unattached 2 car garage (lot IS less than 1/4 acre, but it's on a corner, so we're not too cramped). Probably about 1100 or so sq ft, if I remember correctly.

Well, of course I'll accept housewarming gifts! I would do the same for any of you.

I would like to wait until closer to the closing, so that I don't have to pack anything that is sent. I'll PM anyone who wants my new address at that time.

Once again, you people are the best.
I'm so happy for you Michelle! Kids always like houses better than apartments...at least mine did! Congratulations!
Kitty, I think it's a great accomplishment that you are making it on your own to the extent of having your own house, even. I wonder how you do it! I am very happy for you and your girls.
Congratulations Miss Kitty! I can't wait to see pics of your new place. Let us know when you will be having your housewarming! xoxo
post #46 of 48
Gradulations, conned.
Woohoo!

Great news, Kitty. Please include me in the mailing list so I can send ya a little something. Pictures are a must!

The way real estate prices have skyrocketed in my neck of the woods, I'll probably have to wait at least two years to own the kind of house I'm looking for.
Bump

Just checking in to see if you've made the move yet.

I hope all is well, xoxo.
