Rules of Engagement

Out of respect for Nick’s wishes and the health of the community, many of us have dropped our feisty ways regarding flame wars with other chewers and competing sites. Kudos all around, it’s made the place worth posting again.

Thing is, what do you do when antagonized? Do you back down quietly or fight back intelligently?

I've made an effort not to post any unnecessary retorts towards fellow chewers when pushed, in this CHUD.com A.D. Still, there are times I wanna rip into someone, while at the same time trying not to marginalize myself as someone who is confrontational. Confrontation does not have to be all bad, as long as it is done respectfully, so here are things I will never do:

1)Exploitation of a persons disability or handicap

2)Mom jokes are fine, but are subject to veto under the following conditions:
I) By request of subjected chewer
II) Informed of mothers death

3)Shots at a persons personal appearance, unless a friendly relationship is established with subjected chewer and clearly identified as a joke.

4)Racial & religious taunts

5)Excessive use of vulgar language (E.G. “Fuck you, you fucking dick fucker!”)

6)Threats of bodily harm or at a friend or family member

7)Dragging arguments from one thread to another, unless the thread is a clear spawn of the initial.

8)Dragging an argument on once my point is clearly established. Not getting the last word in does not always mean a loss.

9)The use of a dual identity to attack the subjected chewer

10)Hold a grudge if a truce is requested

11)Request a chewers exile from the boards

Eh...nothing has ever enraged me.

However...
Micah one time informed me that Full Frontal was indeed a terrible film...and I just prayed to Jobu to make his mustache fall off.

If the antagonizing comment/post was not made by a Chewer whose opinion I trust and/or respect, then I don't really give it a second thought.

I ignore the personal attack and repsond to the topic at hand.

Then I let loose a barrage of verbal attacks over PM. wink
