Well I was only just now able to get back on to my main-line drip of Chud.com. I did find <a href="http://www.nexcess.net/forums/showthread.php?s=98a9ee68b960c48fe9b684411bc0d97f& threadid=155" target="_blank">this link</a> while trying find out what was up with the site/boards. I'm guessing this is the reason Chud was down and why some posts are missing.

Glad to see everything is more or less back to normal.

This was one of the most hamstringingly fucked up things to happen to the site in a long time. The timing was bad, the duration was bad. The lost data was bad, and worst of all, it may have REALLY hurt us in the income department.

I have to do an interview (Ed Burns!) but more when I'm back.

Jesus...I actually cracked open my math book. I bugged Mr. Whitehead and Nick for all but two seconds just to be sure it wasn't only on my end. I also went outside. There's this strange thing that hangs in the sky... it glows... and is warm. I thought the sky was falling at first, but a nun told me it was the glory of god come to save me. Someone else told me it was the sun. I got scared and hid out in the corner of my cellar chewing on shoe leather.
That sucked the fun out of my day... lemme tell ya.

Whoa...that was a surreal experience. Glad to see that we didn't lose ya, Nick! I was getting ready to hang out with the people over at Nexcess.

kitty, look on the bright side. You have a job. wink I walked off mine Thursday night. I have enough documented evidence to sue, but the sad thing is, I seriously loved the company and my job. My son still works for the core company, so how CAN I sue? He shouldn't be penalized for the actions of the co-worker I was stuck with.

It was one particular asshole (yeah the same one that was giving me grief before)that pushed me one too many times, so I bailed after 3 years of giving up every ounce of blood, sweat and dedication.

I was being harassed and I did go to upper management seeking a resolution to the ongoing problem, to no avail. It started right back up again. I'm a woman of strong convictions. I left. Problem resolved. *sigh* I got the last laugh, though. While I was packing up, my boss begged me 4 times to please reconsider. I finally told him that begging didn't look good on him. So..HA!

And I'm sure you all REALLY didn't need or want to hear all that. Sorry to rant on.

On a much lighter note....

Congrats on your new home, kitty! I just caught the thread and I'm really happy for you.

I've just now (10pm central) been able to get back on here. Went through withdrawals, shaking, watching tv, crying in the corner while curled in the fetal position.

I want to know what happened to Chud because my personal web site is doing the exact same thing and is still not working right. I can't even get into the FTP server.

The CHUD IP address changed. The reason that some people could not get on until now is because it takes time for the new IP to propagate across the interweb.

So, Nick, what actually happened? Motherboard? (There's a brewing scandal about caps on boards blowing because of some screwup with the manufacturer that supplies pretty much everybody the past few years...hrmmmm...) Screwup with an IP change they didn't bother to tell you about? What?

Awww..thanks, Coyote. No biggie. Really.

I had emailed Nick and he told me the motherboard crashed. The only person I informed was Devin because I saw that people were inquiring on his site through the night and felt Devin, at least, had a right to know because he hadn't heard from Nick at the time. I just didn't feel right broadcasting it, because this site is Nick's baby and I'm sure he was feeling really down and frustrated. He felt that it would only take another hour, but that wasn't the case.

The really weird part of it for me was every time I tried to use the link to the new IP it kept reverting back to my old one and I couldn't log in. I could see the last posts on every thread, but I caouldn't view the threads themselves. Really wild.
