Here's why I see that the analogy doesn't work. You say replace the belief that you are Jewish with the belief that you are black, but Nelson in no way insinuated that you were Jewish. He simply said (quite inapropriately I may add) that you should stick a menorah up your ass. He could have replaced the word menorah with just about anything and it would still remain *just* an insensitive comment. I think you are reading too much into what he wrote.

No one on CHUD would tolerate anti-semetic remarks. We just don't believe this is one.
As shown in the second thread cited, Nelson thought I was Jewish. When he found out I was raised Catholic, he substituted what his new slur would have been. And he didn't say that I should stick a menorah up my ass, he said I woke up with one there.

To me this indicates that he is saying "Devin is acting Jewish." Whatever deregatory meaning that has for him.

I can distance myself from my dislike of you. This thread has been an exercise in that. If he had directed the comment at Burke or myself or anyone else I would not have been outraged so much as puzzled.

And I am sad that people here are utterly unable to remove themselves from their feelings about me to see when a truly offensive thing has been said that should cause outrage from the community.
Maybe our feelings about you have less to do with this than the fact that we simply didn't want to see two pages of space devoted to something that should have been settled in private.

Then you aren't thinking clearly. If he thought you were "acting Jewish", whatever that means, he would not have made the substitution. He just thought you were acting like someone with something up their butt.
