When 'The Core' breaks 80 million ... - Page 2

"If it's good enough for the Nunz to post in, who are we to close it? Besides, this is the Chewers Forum. Every thread in here is waste of space."

Ah DD you crack me up.

And Sammy Jankis former knight of Ni I support your efforts, but just for laughs I'll go see "The Core" a couple of times.

I looks like a fun popcorn destroy the earth but the fuckers save it in the nick of time kinda flic. Maybe worth 12$.

Edited because I can't spell worth shit.
Crap. sorry heh heh heh It's one of my first double post. Please don't put me in front of the firing squad.... No!

If The Core makes $80MIL I...won't be effected either way.

This is sorta like when Rath talked trash (a LOT of trash) about The Royal Tenenbaums and how it looked stupid and he would never see it. And then, he did and it's now his favorite film of all time, I think.

Making bold declarations like this on the internet gets you nowhere. Boy, have I learned that...
As long as we are keeping score, I did the same thing with Dreamcatcher.

If I wasn't dead....

back on topic: You ever read about a dish on a menu and you just know you don't like it? That's what this is like. There's nothing there that interests me. I don't think I'm going to change my mind on this. If I do, I promise to tell so you all can make fun of me for it. Seriously. I promise.

Fool, no Chewer ever survived that test. wink

I've just made a decision.

If this thread reaches a second page of posts, i'm going to give up this board for 3 months.

I can't decide what this sort of statement is a new definition for -- ignorant or closed-minded.

But I'm neither ignorant nor closed-minded. I'm open to new things, but if the menu says olive encrusted monkey turds, I am secure saying I won't like it.

Crazier things have happened. Look up: Rath on Tenenbaums or the whole Bateman vs. Dreamcatcher thread.

I think this might be the most widely spaced double post ever.

Okay. Means one less audience member to deal with.

Yep, can't watch those either. Guess you'll just have to stick with pictures.

P.S. Royal Tenenbaums is no longer my favorite movie. It's in my top five, though.

If you aren't going to go the PC route I would assume the word you would use is: retarded.

(PS I'm posting in this to help get it over two pages because) when people say thing like Worst. Movie. Ever. and then actually see the thing and change their mind it should set an example for the fact that making declaritory staements about things you haven't experienced but have no ethical reasons to be opposed to is silly. Because often (as you two have proved) it's not as bad as you think, and can be quite good.

Reminds me of the expression that often an open mouth has a closed mind, and vice versa.
How many more posts do we need to reach two pages? Quick, get that Comic-Con Stalker over here...
This will be fun. 2 pages here we come!
The main thing keeping me from wanting to see the film is that it looks to feature about 50% exposition and the rest people in a submersible. And since I'm not a fan of Submarines films or exposition, I'll probably skip it. But I like suporting those who suport Chud, so might drop change just to help Jonrog get one out of the park.
I think the trailer makes this film look like ass, but Nick seems to like it. I'm torn, but I can whole heartedly say that I can wait for it to come out on DVD.
The trailers are awful, and I will never forgive Qualls for Comic Book Villains. I will still probably catch a matinee.
Who likes, really likes, disaster movies? It's a genre that's never made much sense to me.
Useless post.
Deep Impact was absolute ass. It felt like a bloated soap opera projected on the big screen.
TWO FUCKING PAGES!

My work here is done.

I hope Bateman isn't planning to drop a couple million on The Core so I have to give up movies.
No, I will see it once during a matinee.

I love seeing extravagantly and obscenely rich & spoiled, "with it" people reduced to bickering crybabies and cowards in the face of disaster so I guess I'm a fan.

That's the best justification I have ever heard.

If Henry Fonda injecting himself with African Killer Bee venom in THE SWARM isn't enough to win you over on the genre, then you hate film. It's that fucking simple.
Don't bring The Swarm into this. I love that film. I watched that on Monstervision more times than I can count. And I can count high too.

"The African killer bee should not be confused with the hard-working, industrious American honey bee, which provides us with honey and pollinates our flowers."

Great sig, Beaks. One of my favorite movies. I may have to dust if off and invite some folks over.

And the irony, of course, is that I saw both "The Core" and "Adaptation" on Monday night and "The Core" was the better movie *hands down*.

"Adaptation". Grr. Fucking self-indulgent, boring piece of shit that thinks it's oh-so-clever when it is as dumb as a bag of hammers - I am filled with rage even contemplating the memory. And just for the record, having one of the characters observe that the movie is self-indulgent does not automatically excuse its self-indulgence. Just so you know in future. All of the observations were trite and coarse and lame. Even a film of "The Orchid Thief", with its inherent lack of structure, whatever that is, would have been more bearable than this.

Whereas "The Core" was merely mediocre nonsense. And there were a couple of times it delivered the stentorian line of immortal corny dialogue with the music building up in the background, and then totally and deliberately deflated it with a dialogue aside. THAT alone was more knowing and ironic and post-modernist than anything that happened in the whole of "Adaptation".

Must be a British thing Alice. As I have to agree.

I was actually moved by Delroy Lindo's departure. Surprisingly sensitive little moment of direction by Amiel there amidst the pleasingly goofy-cornfest.

I loved Adaptation.

Wasn't this all much ado about nothing? I'd be surprised if The Core made it to $40 million.

I was thinking that earlier, but I didn't want to open the whole thing up again. It made only 12 million in the first weekend. It was number 3, I think.

I'm sorry about this. You leave me with no choice but to hunt you down and kill you. If people exist that liked this movie, it only encourages Satan to make more movies like it.

I'm on a mission from God, you see.

I love love love love love love love love love Adaptation.
Alice, I have gone into long passionate debates about Adaptation. Some say it is the best film ever about writers block. Yet I find it to be way too self referential to be more than just a one note show off piece by people who have more talent and prestige to turn a picture of an unadapted book into a sell out piece.

Kisses.
