Women and fuel tanks

Question: why is it that whenever I get into the car after my wife has been using it, the fuel tank reads vapour?

My ex-girlfriend was exactly the same.

Do women suffer severe allergic reactions to fuel stations? Is there some innate quality about a fuel pump which is incompatible with the female anatomy?
