My ultimate cheap thrill is going to a salon, and having a woman wash my hair in that head sink thing before my haircut.

Best feeling ever....it's like she's having sex with my scalp.

The absolute joy of returning home from work to find the refrigerator replenished with tasty, high-calorie, morsels.

Whoever said that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, sure hit the nail right on the head...
Hmm let me think..

Just a few of my favorite things:
- bright copper kettles
- warm woolen mittens
- brown paper pac... sorry couldn't resist.

-The best feeling in the world for me is, after showing my student film to the class, having a classmate come up to me and say "I wish I didn't have to go after you."

-Finishing a really good book that is the begining of a series, knowing that you have the whole series in front of you to read.

-Heck just about everthing to do with the prosses of filmmaking. The feeling of elation that one gets on the last filming day, The joy of editing and seeing the whole thing come together and work, and watching the way the class reacts to what was made.

I could go on but I'm too tired.

Maybe we *should* marry. We clearly have a great deal in common.

However, my list would have to add "the smell of something you've baked with your own two sweaty mitts in the oven, filling your whole house with carbohydratey sweet bakey goodness".

Of course, at the moment the oven in our house is broken and I'm on the Atkins diet *anyway*, so I'm having to amuse myself in the meantime with copious amounts of the other stuff on that list.

Unfortunately, I hardly cook at the moment, so that is one pleasure I rarely have.

Unless you include Super Noodles.

We'll, I've got eight cans of Kronenbourg 1664 chilled to freezing-point downstairs, and they are all going down the hatch tonight.

<Note: After eight cans, I'm usually not at my best, so apologies in advance if: a) my spelling/grammar goes to pot b) I swear at you c) I label your favourite film: pretentious nonsense d) I ask you to sleep with, or marry, me>

-Knowing I have a fun weekend ahead of me

-Illegal psychotropic substances

-I second the baking thing, I'm eating some luverly cinnamon cookies I made as I type this

-Anything spicy smelling like ginger, nutmeg, or cinnamon

My list:

Realizing my family is huge, close-knit and almost entirely in the Greater Rochester area.

Hanging out with college friends, which happens with less frequency than it did.

The aroma of grass after a rainstorm.

Ice cream on a summer night.

Miniature golf before the ice cream.

Discovering a film I missed in theatres on DVD.

Finally coming to grips that while I might not be 20 years behind the times, my taste in music is. And liking it.

A bowl of Doritos, a glass of Pepsi and either a magazine or comic to read on the back porch during a sunny afternoon.

The little things that make me happy:

- my cat nuzzling her face against my chin as she lies on my chest while I sleep
- peaches, the smell of peaches, peach cobbler, peach pie, peach cookies, peach tea, peach candles...ANYTHING having to do with peaches. Even the Presidents' song, Millions of Peaches
- a hot cup of good coffee while eating ice cream
- looking at something I've made with my own hands, and wondering how the hell I made it.
- any kind of feedback on something I've written or drawn
- getting into a creative zone while drawing
- christian music
- tearing open a package I receive in the mail, whether it's something cool or not.
- going to the movies or watching a flick at my house with Taro.
- finding out about a new, kickass restaurant and trying it out for the first time
- paying all my bills for the month with my first paycheck
- waking up in the afternoon, and knowing I don't HAVE to get up unless I want to (ie, not waking up to an alarm)
- a rainstorm while the sun is shining, with hail is even better
- catching a good tornado on film, cutting the footage, and seeing it on the news later that night. Hell, chasing a storm through its life-cycle is one of the best feelings in the world.
- spending time with my entire family on a special holiday. I usually dread certain members visiting, but it always works out happily in the end.
- lying on the beach in Cozumel watching the seagulls dance over the crystal waters of the Gulf.
- slipping under the cool sheets of my bed, immediately after I make it.
- enjoying the hell out of a movie that nobody else likes (ie. Tomb Raider)
- learning a new programming language
- cooking anything intricate
- drafting a project and a few days later, seeing the finished product on my workbench exactly as I designed it
- walking across a freshly vacuumed floor barefoot, leaving distinct footprints

That's a lot...I could go on, and probably will later.

Anytime, anyone reverts lazily to the old "film geek" cliche, I'm just going to mail them this thread. Perhaps the nicest, warmest thing I've read on this site. Gentelmen and ladies all.

I only have one personal addition to a list that already includes so much I love about life.

And she's called Becky.

My children's laughter.
Kisses from my daughter.
Watching my son play on the swingset in the backyard of our new home.
A great book.
Movies that tear me up and put me back together again.
Sleeping in on a rainy day.
My maman's crawfish etoufee.
Babies.
Watching all my parent's grandchildren play together.
Seeing the way my lover looks at me and realizing that, yes, I am beautiful.
