A note to Justin about Junk: The Movie: The Ride...

as far as I know there is a Junk cult following...the ign "horror geek" guy who writes a column weekly often puts that on top of his list for japanese horror/gore and recommends it to every other person who writes in to him asking what to watch. I hope that keys you in a little bit.
If you enjoy crazy japanese movies, I think you might want to check out Versus on dvd ...hkflix.com has a preorder on it right now but its really a great movie, you should review it. Also for kicks check out Wild Zero, I assure you. you havent seen a movie like that before.

Versus really didn't do it for me, the story was weak. Gore was nice though.

Wild Zero is getting a Region 1 DVD release here soon.

I found Versus disappointing. Too disjointed and the action wasn't particularly well choreographed. The gore's OK, but it's not the relentless experience it's made out to be.

It took me a while to get into it but I try to watch it once a month as it'll be the template for my own short film. I'm already planning some wicked special attacks...

I love zombies...Jap, Italian, American, where ever.

Junk and all the other movies mentioned are pretty cool in my book.

I've sat through some bad zombie movies, so junk was actually a pleasure ( I enjoyed spotting the shot for shot "homages" (yeah, right) from other zombie flicks)

Like I said in a Dawn of the Dead remake thread:

Even a bad zombie movie is a zombie movie.

Thanks for the info SPYDER. I've been watching so many different movies from so many different genres lately that sometimes my judgement gets clouded.

Junk was fun. I'm proud to have it in my collection, and it'll definately get some spin time. I just didn't know anything about it, and honestly, I was rather nervous doing a review for a film I knew nothing about. At first I thought, No Biggie, but as I watched it, it looked like something with all the cult fingerprints. I asked the question at the begining of the review because I always want to be as informed as possible with reviews. I didn't want to miss the mark on where people's feelings were with this one. I hope the review felt that it was more geared towards the zombie fanatic instead of the general movie going public, and with that being said, it was fun, but somewhere around the slightly above average as far as gore flicks go.

Oh, but the keys out of the torso scene rocked my socks.

Oh yeah... if you all want to discuss this one further, take it over to the DVD review forum. There's a JUNK review thread in there.

Thanks for the response!
