We went on a camping trip this weekend and had a good time in spite of the rain on Saturday.

Weren't you just on a vcacation? I remember boat pictures being posted not to long ago. In any case, it looks like you and the fam had a great time. I'm jealous!

Yeah. This was just a Sat/Sun deal. We love the outdoors!

Scott, where do you all camp? I've been looking for a place. My family lives in the VA mountains just north of Asheville, and if I had to guess, I'd say you were close to the same mountains.

By the way, welcome back, cap'n.

This was Camp Beartree on Mount Rogers. That's near Abingdon, VA if that means anything.

My home town is about an hour southwest from Abingdon. I drive right through there everytime I visit home. I always thought Mt. Rogers was a little far for a weekend camping trip from Raleigh, but it's only 3.5 hours without traffic. That's doable.

Nice facilities. Thanks to the rain our festivities were somewhat limited. If you wanna you should come my way and we can camp at Hanging Rock State Park just north of Winston. Some good hiking trails.

I've been considering that one, too. I'm rather partial to the mountains, but being closer could have some advantages. Most of my equipment is pretty old though, and at this point, the baby increases the amount of stuff you need exponentially.

Thanks for the link. I'm going to save it. I'll make it a point to check out that park sometime soon.

How much is a 30 lbs kid gonna carry? I'll answer that. A sippy and her favorite teddy bear.

And maybe a blanket. The small, fuzzy, tattered kind.

Oddly enough, not in her case. Her Mom and I are her security.

Well, you all survived. Which means nobody strayed from the path, indulged in illegal substances and had absolutely no sexual intercourse to speak of. Way to stay alive Scott!

Well I did spot this guy with a hockey mask but I waved my glove at him and he ran like a spanked pup.
