Types of fiction (horror and otherwise) you would like to see on....

Possessing so few writing skills of my own requires me to seek out stories that interest me.
So rather than actually writing fiction myself I can only make a wish list of types of stories I would like to see.

I've always been a sucker for "last man on earth" type of stories. Apocolypse writing I guess you can call it. The idea of the inevitable end of the world and the last people left is an intriguing and scary topic.

Also, Stephen King's old stand-by of a little town with something wrong with it is a simple sounding concept that,if done right, can be entertaining as hell.

Just two off the top of my head. I've read most of the stories posted, and the site already has a great start.

Oh, and can we see more Mary Kate and Ashley tales?

What? Like Cheech and Chong?

I'd like to see some Twilight Zone/Tales Of The Unexpected type stories. Not sci-fi as such - just short stories with a twist. Then I can read them out through gritted teeth and pretend to be Rod Serling.

We've avoided Vampires because they're so overused and overloved... while werewolves get little.

But no-one has any overwhelming objections to werewolves?

I'd do a werewolf story. Werewolves rule.

Can there be explicit sex and violence in it? Kinda not worth doing otherwise...

As a fan of the old Universal horror monster matchups, I would lobve to see the updates on some of those type of stories.
Werewolf V. Vampire

That sort of thing.
I love the idea of two nearly indesructible creatures duking it out to the death.

We alreayd did werewolves many moons ago, but this is a whole new beast to be sure. I would LOVE to see more werewolf stories by some of the current writers on here.

I think I neat idea would be to have a fictional town -- call it Chuddiston if you will -- and have everyone write stories set in this town. You could reference events, characters, and places mentioned in other stories. You could have horror, comedy, mystery, drama, anything, but always tie it in to this town. A shared world, our very own version of Castle Rock, with anything posted that takes place in it regarded as canon and needing to be adhered to in future installments. I think it could be a lot of fun reading other people's stuff, finding something interesting in it, and expanding on it.

Yeah, you probably would need a "Mayor of Chuddiston" who would have to make sure nothing got submitted that destroyed anything someone else had done.

Have you read Charles L. Grant's Greystone Bay books (there are 4), or the Horror Writer's Association shared-world anthology books? Neat stuff.

I nominate Chud Valley as the town name. Chuddiston sounds like some sort of anal ointment. Not that I'd know. Er...

(I am, of course, asking that with no knowledge of Nick's art requirements.)

I vote "Chud" not be used in any way in the name of said town. Have it be something more normal, like Bakersville, or somesuch.
Or Roanoke. I like Roanoke.

I'm actually writing a werewolf novel. It's basically James Michner done horror style. It follows a clan of werewolves, a brood of vampires, and a secret religious brotherhood as they battle through the centuries. All sorts of cool historical personas slip in and out of it. Sort of like "Braveheart" meets "Interview With The Vampire" meets "Godfather."
