First let me welcome Dylan Kidd, writer/director of Rodger Dodger, into the ranks of the elite. This is Kidd's first indie film and what a great film it is. Here's the synopsis from the back of the DVD.....
set in manhatten, rodger dodger takes a comic look at the male ego and the art of manipulating women. campell scott stars as roger, a sharp witted advertising copywriter who can talk his way into any skirt. Which is exactely why his nephew, Nick, pays him a visit. with nick's virginity at stake, roger takes him out for a one-night crash course in seduction, only to realize he still has quite a lot to learn about women.....and himself.
I feel this is one of the best screenplays ever written, not to mention the completely brilliant direction. The camera is used so effectively and puts you right into this guys life. The angles, close-ups, lighting, all excellent. This is such a great character study. The DVD is loaded with extras and delving into these to hear what Kidd has to say is a priority. I'm lovin the Indie films right now and this is one of the best. Regardless of all that it's just a great movie with quite a few laugh-out-loud moments. Definitely a must see for every guy! women shouldn't know our secrets though!
