Hello all,
I just wanted to, as the newly appointed moderator of this forum(many thanks to the great webmaster know simply as Nick Nuziata), welcome everyone to the new Budding Filmmakers forum.
I wanted to just lay out a few things that I think will be fair guidelines of what you should expect from this forum.
First of all I'd like to state that I hope many of you who post in this forum have a dream that one day indeed you will be apart of the filmmaking process. And I would like us all to share with each other in that common dream. Meaning that we all have value and we all possess different gifts that we can all benefit from. Whether you have never touched or read about a camera in your life or you have been doing this professionally for many years we all can garner something from this forum.
I want to say that we should have a responsible and mature attitude about this because each person here may very well be seeking a career in film and approaches it very seriously. And so no idea is too far-fetched nor is any idea beneath our notice if presented with a desire to receive honest feed back or giving advice to another in a uplifting way. This should be a place where, as its says in the description of this forum, "Where you and Uncle Mitch can." And granted even though Uncle Mitch is as elusive as ever we can still can. Can-can even.
In all honesty I have high hopes and high expectations of this forum. I want to hear about projects coming together, ideas becoming reality, and finished products that were born here ready to be shilled(and no not shamelessly). We can indeed make this happen. If you have idea go ahead and share it. If you have a script, go ahead and let us read a little(only a little mind you). If you have a project that might need a little help go ahead and let us know. Perhaps there is someone around your area who reads these boards and can help you out. You never know what can happen. I already owe CHUD many thanks for what has happened for me and continues to happen for me. It can be that way for all of us. But we have to all believe it is possible. And it is.
Also I would want to say that the ideas shared here are the intellectual property of those who thought it up. And if they wish to share it here it should be respected. No one should see an idea and essentially steal it. Though there may be no law to bind you to that common decency should bind you enough to know that what is not thought up by you is not yours to do with as you please. And to those of you with ideas I ask that you indeed think about what you are going to post before you post. Do not post full scripts of your own or others you know. Perhaps one shouldn't post an entire pitch either. Because this is the intenet and people really like to get away with taking things that is not theirs. Again we should be able to respect each other enough so that we can all benefit rather then be stolen from. I appeal to everyone's decency(lets no be like the producers we have all come to hate hmmm).
In closing I just want to say that I am glad to be a part of this. We really do not know what can come from this but whatever it is it can only be good things. So, let's get some ideas flowing and some movies made aye?
