The Dream Movie!

I think almost everyone who is interested in the buisness has one. So fess up! You don't have to share your kick-ass idea if you're afraid of plagerism, but what kind of atmosphere would it have? What genre would it be? What would the characters be like or what location would it be in?
I will get the ball rolling, I guess. My Dream Movie is definetly a horror film. Preferably some kind of neglected or forgotten creature feature, like werewolves or sewer creatures (havent had any sewer monster movies for a couple years that I know of, I would love to give the idea some more juice)It would definetly have a dark and creepy atmosphere, but I would throw in some splashes of color and light here or there. I would also like to include some interesting well rounded characters who you actually feel for, flat characters are the worst. Well thats the bare bones of my little fantasy, anyone else have any ideas or dreams?

Well for me again it would have to be a horror.
I would stick with blacks and greys but contrast this with stark colours for the main characters (just the characters not the whole scenes).
The story would be from the monsters POV and i would use a monster i have been playing around with for some time now (cant give out anymore sorry).
It would be a story through the ages though and affect a family who have a particular reason for wanting this 'thing' long gone.
Probably doesnt sound like much to anyone but my first draft is done and it reads better than the short description ive just given here, well atleast i hope it does.

My next one will hopefully be in a fall setting. I want to use the bright autumn colours as my background for this very grimm story. I like the textures of the leaves and the sounds that they make as the wind blows through their crackley masses. It will be a stark contrast to my last movie, because of all the colours. It will also be set in Oct., which already sets a certain tone to the film. I think that there will be some nice contrasts going if I get to shoot it when I want.

Dream film? I want to make an Academy-Award winning horror flick, but so long as it strikes a chord with somebody, it'd be all cool.

And then, I've got to put together all my set pieces into a story, make that into an action flick and blow people into the back of the theater.

I'd like to do a rise and fall story for an american caesar. (I guess kinda like what oliver stone's doing, but in my way.) Maybe make it a trilogy (or more) as is all the rage now.

It'd start and show a massive terrorist attack that follows up 9/11 by some 15 years later. By now, the war on terrorism seems un-winnable to many and their outrage at being attacked again brings the country to the edge of chaos. The fear of the american people allow the president to appoint a charismatic, brilliant, but morally deficient man to a new position in the US military, that of global theater commander. He is given the authority of the presidency and the ability by the people to destroy our enemies our the world.

He deploys US forces in every nation that clashes with american interests and begins occupying mid-eastern countries. The hatred and fear of the american populace allow him to arrest and detain all he pleases in those territories in which he is de facto governor. The people simply do not care anymore and give him the power to enforce american peace on a global scale.

Our american Caesar is a genius at war, but ruthless. Millions are killed under his command as he expands his influence not only militarily, but within the american government.

Episode II.

This movie will see the final pacification of most enemy nation leaving only handfuls of guerillas and terrorists resisting US rule. With the absence of great foes and the truth about the genocide that has happened coming to light, opposition groups form inside the United States to oppose Caesar. People across many special interest groups unite to prevent an unbalancing of power, but it is too. With many victories to his credit, the military is firmly behind him and he refuses to give up command of the global theater. The people have little choice but to begin protests and minor terrorist operations of their own and invoke the 60's all over again. The plays perfectly into our Caesar's plan as he used the chaos to declare martial law. This movie will end in a pitched battle in which Caesar confronts whatever military power his opposition can muster and effectively destroys it using tactical nuclear weapons which by this time are extremely powerful, but now considered conventional weapons (see new popular science for it's development) At battles end, Caesar is appointed special militar advisor to the president and given authority of all intelligence agencies and the ability to alter strategic defense plans as he wishes.

Episode III.

Surprisingly, he proves a good politician as well and stabilizes the situation. The economy recovers due to influxes of cash mainly from stolen resources from conquered countries which now all have puppet governments. The public is grateful for the end of war and the seemingly peaceful future is enticing. Congress, attempting to justify the legality of the situation reaches an agreement. The settlement of 27 gives our Caesar full executive veto powers and made essentially a second representative of the people with the power to check the branches of the government. He even adopts the title of first citizen and pretends to be a watchdog for the public.

There is of course opposition and certain members of congress do their things and assasinate him during an address at a joint session.

Much drama to be interwined in the story to include huge modern tank battles, space warfare, and aerial dogfights. Nuclear weapons and naval battles will truly be spectacular.

Man, I'd love to do this.

Issues I'd explore include:

How far will America go to win the war on terrorism? What will it take to justify a massive retaliation counterstrike?

Will the American people, if hurt enough, justify the subjugation of foreign nations in the name of peace?

Can the US government withstand an illegal challenge to its power despite the overwhelming opinion of the people? The public can sometimes demand things that are not good for them.

Can the US win a conventional war in the Middle East? What will it take?

We will, of course need a hero. A good man who doesn’t wish to see democracy go. There are many who would like our current government gone, but they don’t realize that the first ones to fill the power vacuum would be a dictator, not another democracy. It would move too slowly to be effective. Therefore, our good hero is an idealist who is supremely naïve about his fellow countrymen and of history. He will believe he has saved the republic until forces beyond his understanding rally against him in episodes 4,5, and 6.

I mentioned it in the CC boards. It's called "TV Ghosts". Here's a rough synopsis:
It is the story of a young man who has recently been separated from his wife who is a tv reporter. He wants to get back with her, but her career is more important to her. One night a storm hits and his satellite tv begins to get weird receptions from time to time afterward. It gets tv ghosts (strange multiple images of the people on tv). He calls the satellite company, who can find nothing wrong with the dish. Soon, he starts to notice a pattern to the images. They seem to be distorted versions of the people on the screen. They seem to be images of the souls of those on the tv. In a fit of anger, he video tapes a report that his ex is doing and decides to isolate the image of her soul so that he can prove the kind of person that she really is. While doing that, she mysteriously walks away from a live broadcast and disappears. Months later, she shows up again at his house. It is her dead animated body, looking for her soul.

I'd really like to start shooting it over the next several months, but that is very uncertain.

I love your idea, Imperator, although I think it would actually be more powerful condensed into a single film (maybe 3-4 hours).

It may sound strange, being an author, that I wouldn't want to write an original script...but what I would really like to do is take various works and adopt them properly. This doesn't mean scene for scene, it means taking the original story and characters and being true to them in translating to the film. Marrying an author's story sensibilities with a film maker's savy.

Adaptations I'd love to oversee:
Lois McMaster Bujold's Vor (Miltaristic, but VERY character driven sci-fi...multiple Hugos awarded this series)
Stephen Brust's Jhereg (Non-traditional, more James Bondish Fantasy)
Terry Pratchett's Discworld (Comedy Fantasy with some seriousness sprinkled throughout)
Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series (A hard R Buffy from hell)

Some adaptations I'd like to see:

A Disney/Miramax Production- Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal . Based on the book by Christopher Moore, directed by Kevin Smith (who also cameos)
Starring Seth Rogan (Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, Donnie Darko) as Biff, Heath Ledger as Joshua (Jesus being the Greek translation of the Hebrew Joshua), Natalie Portman as Mary "Maggie" Magdeline, Christopher Lloyd as Bartholemew the Apostle, Russell Crowe as the Roman Centurian and General who befriends Josh and Biff, Jackie Chan, Pat Morita, and Mako as the three wise men whom the boys seek out on a quest that takes them across Asia and back, and Ben Stiller as Judas.
Half animated, Half live action.

Hey, I'm reading that now wink On Chapter 2. So far, it looks like Chris is back with a vengence (his last two books were a tad...muddled)

Two films.....

A Jesus film (if you really do think about it you can do some truly interesting things with visuals)

And a civil war film. Perfect era for religion, war, brotherhood, politics, family, the irony of life.

Main character would be a soldier(rank TBD) that has visions on the battlefield. Black riders who with black whips strike and those people get shot where they were whipped.

Think twisted Valkyires. But the character deals with many things. A great many things.

There is a lot more to it but I think it could go somewhere just with the amount of things it takes on.

Of course it will take a miracle just to be able to follow all that stuff correctly.

Well, here are the scripts I'm trying to work out. Since this forum is so public, I'm gonna be pretty vague, hope noone's offended...

A teen angst comedy ala Ghostworld, but with monsters.

A slapstick comedy.

A Kung Fu spoof.

A comedy about a group of hippies following a Grateful Dead-like band.

An anthology of 3 or 4 shorts all revolving around the subject of monkeys/apes.

And I've got two books I want to adapt.

Then I'll take the money and open a BBQ shack.

And if anyone wanted to make a Flaming Carrot movie, I'd definitely write the script.

Then, TV--my wife and I have two pilots already written (one sitcom, one hour-long comedy ala Northern Exposure or Gilmore Girls), and I have a great idea for a quirky detective show (maybe similar to Rockford Files or Monk).

I'd like to do a sci-fi epic that I've got the bluprints for. HUUUGE indoor sets, maybe CGI, dunno. Thinking Final Fantasy Six-type costumes. Proper English dialogue, maybe Shakespearean actors. The plot, I'll have to keep to myself as I love it very very much. Big war involved.
I like to think of it as sort of like Titus + War of the Worlds + the Final Fantasy games.

If I had the money, it could be awesome...

CT-have you ever read Faulkner's The Unvanquished? You seem to have your own ideas, but I read this a while back and thought it really ought to be adapted to film. It takes place in the civil war, it's a really unusual story, and it has a couple scenes that would be really astounding on screen. It's alot more straight-forward than some of Faulkner's more out-there books.

My main idea involves a powerful criminal who takes over the body of a five year old from the suburbs.

My DREAM MOVIE was the Incredible Hulk. But now that Mr. Lee has beaten me to that, my new DREAM MOVIE is Battle Angle Alitta based on the Japanesse comic book. This would be my all-time masterpiece, granted that I had the proper budget to work with.

This would be to me, what Spider-Man is to Raimi, and LotR is to Jackson. In other words, if I could make this into a movie, my life would be 100% complete.

It makes sense, don't worry. I always have a character in my head I'm fascinated by. Hopefully someday I will be able to bring my character to life.

1) A Documentary.

2) An adaptation of a certain book which I am not going to name because it's so great and such a great idea that you would all definitely steal it.

3) A Vietnam film. I've already got all the music picked out.

I for one will definitely stay out of the Horror genre, leaving it all wide open for you people.
