Final Draft...

...is a complete rip-off. On Amazon.com, it's £215. That's more extiortionate than Windows! I understand it's a good program and all, and I love it so far from the demo, but surely that's pricing a lot of people out. Bottom line, it's pricing me out. I just don't understand why the hell it's really this much. I mean I know you can register scripts with the WGA through it, but is there some hidden catch inside? Do you hit some unknown combination of buttons and get a free date with Alyson Hannigan? Enquiring minds wanna know...

Movie Magic Screenwriter 2000 is a better program anyway.

Should I be mad that Nick recommended I get Final Draft then?

because I don't want to be mad.

No don't be mad.
I don't know what its like in the states but over here most agents/producers etc have Final Draft. So it makes it a damn site easier when you want to email them your script.

Also, Charles you can pick up Final Draft6 for £120 in PC World.

Any good scriptwriting programs free for download?

If your on a budget you can always find something to suit your needs. But overall any script writing program is worth it. From expirence it really does save you loads of time. Doesnt matter which one you go with, Movie Magic or Final Draft theyre both pricey and have all the features you need. Movie Magic just has more features, whether you need them or whether it makes it a better program is debatable. Final Draft seems to be the more popular of the two, but it doesnt make either of them any better or worse, just depends on which one your more comfortable with.
