Alright, I posted this on the main board but no one responded. But i think this is a great opportunity especially for people wanting to make connections.
Sundance is looking for special events staff for the fest in January. go to www.sundance.org. Go to the Institute page and go under current job opportunities. It is Special Event Staff. The pay is $10 an hour and it is for ten days. But, i thik the opportunity to see films early and meet the filmmakers is just too good. I applied last night, so i will let yall know what happens.
When I worked the Austin Film Fest this year i got a lot of good information from some of the programs I got to sit on. I also got to meet some really cool and nice filmakers and screenwriters. Also, the room I worked I got to sit in on some talks for just the screenwriter winners, so there was no bullshit. They people talked to these winners like real filmmakers.
I was wondering also what other "budding filmakers" think of film festivals and how they fit into your education and work. What do they mean to you? What do you get from film festivals?
I eagerly await South by Southwest this next year. It will be my first one (I just moved to Austin in July). I think festivals are great for meeting and networking (a word and thing i loathe, but something needed int his world unfortunately) and reenegergizing filmmakers.
