Somethings we have already gone over...

Thread Starter
But I have decided to condense them here...and since my computer is my home theater it still works....

So anyways I want to play all regions on my computer and I am not sure what program to use.

A search comes up vague and of course this is my perfect place to turn to for friendly advice. Has anyone downloaded a program that kills the region protection on their computer? And if so what was it or is it even worth getting?

Second how can I play DTS 5.1 on my computer? When I select it for playback it says I do not support this audio setup. How can I change this?

I currently use PowerDvd and it is a nice program but with THX certified speakers Id like to listen to the DTS 5.1

Im sure I'll have more questions so that the reason for the thread. Thank you people and have a good weekend.

There are several programs for playing DVDs, but they all allow you to change regions only 5 times. I'm sure there's a way around it, but I don't know about it.
As far as DTS from your computer, that's a monkey of another flavor. To get the DTS, you need a sound card that can output DTS. I have a SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum eX, and it only supports Dolby Digital. The Audigy 2 supports Dolby Digital EX, but I don't see anything on the Creative literature about it supporting DTS. There may be another company out there that supports it, but I don't think so. Games come with Dolby, and most movies come with Dolby, so there probably hasn't been much of a demand for DTS support.

1) To get multi-region capability with your power dvd program, check into DVD Genie.

1.5) Or you could also hack your dvd-rom's firmware and make it region free without using dvd genie, check this site out to see if your drive is listed... HERE.

2) To get DTS capability...invest in Creative Labs Inspire 5700 speakers...it has a dd/dts decoder built into the amp/receiver.

I hope that helps...as well, I take no responsibility if you screw your drive up with the firmware hacks. do so at your own risk.
