Camcorder Advice

Thread Starter
Ok, so our kid is about to be 2 years old, and we still haven't bought a camcorder yet. I know some of the main points I want, but I'm not sure what I don't want, or points that I should look for. I know I do want:

Digital Video
Ability to plug the camera into a TV for playback
Night vision

Any advice from the camera-philes out there? Looking to probably spend $300-$500 or so.

I have a Sony (don't remember the model number). I like that I can take digital stills and video with it, save them to my memory card, and play directly from the card into other Sony products. It also came with the software and hardware I needed to download from the camera to my computer, but I could get a mouse with a memory stick input as well.

The video is great. There are several features I'll never use, of course, but you have to have video of the kid. It's a rule.

We've got a Canon Z65 that takes great video as long as you've got adequate lighting. I did alot of research (in your price range) and thought I wouldn't need a low light camera. Turns out it's more important than I thought, but wouldn't have been a deal breaker for us.

The camera is great in all other aspects, though I had to buy a larger capacity battery. We bought it for 'bambino-video' too (at the six month mark).

Edited:
If you and Beth are heading to a coffee meeting let me know and I'll bring it with me.
