Hi-
My reciever (Sony STR-K502) just broke and i believe that it might have been caused by an electrical outing in my neighborhood. I opened it up and inside i see that the fuse is blown. I go to buy another one, put it in, it blows up again. Can someone tell me what the problem might be and how i can fix it? I think it might be a short in some part of it, but i don't know. Thank You!

I feel your pain, Eddie, but I have no idea what it could be. Are you sure that you fitted it with the same exact fuse?

Any chance you bought it with an extended plan? How long have you had it?

Not to sound like an ass, but this may be a result of you not protecting your valuable equipment properly. If the receiver was not plugged into a surge protector, it should have been. Power surges after power outages are killers on electronic equipment and computers.

Also, normal AC straight from the wall is dirty power, you should consider getting a surge protector (if you don't already have one) that also cleans(removes noise along with creating an even flow of power) up the electricity from the wall. It should help your electronics last longer also.

If by chance you did have the receiver hooked up to a surge protector, then I am sorry and I would probably just call Sony or get it serviced by a trained technician. But, the surge protector stuff is still good advice for anyone reading.

If it was hooked up to a surge strip, most of them have a warranty that will pay for whatever was hooked up to the strip, even if it is an old product. Monster has the best setup I've seen, but they are pricey.
