That's only a fraction of what a woman will end up costing you.

Actually, a rear projection Hi-Def TV, at this point, will give you a better picture at about 1/3 of the cost. I can not deny the coolness factor that comes from mounting a plasma right on the wall though.

one thing to consider when it comes to plasma is that depending on the brand and when you bought it...they are prone to having images burned into the screen.

I never knew that until last week when reading some reviews online.

If I were to go plasma...my pick would be a Fujitsu, only because it has a screen 'washing' feature that prevents burn in. (Now fujitsu suits...can I get a plasma tv for that shill of a post?)

I think I'm gonna go rob a bank this week.

david and mongy, you're both right and just to let those unsuspecting future plasma buyers know, the average lifespan for a plasma is 3 years, after which, the gas inside the screen tends to fade out. Not so good then for 17 grand.
CRT televisions are infinately better (and bulkier), able to produce better colours and blacks and also have a longer shelf life.
Still want one though!

Although, if you want to play games, you're fucked with a rear-projection tv.

Sounds like you are with a plasma screen, too. I play video games on my 58" Pioneer RPTV, and don't have any burn in problems. The real issues come when you have something with high contrast on the screen for a long amount of time, which is part of the reason why all the networks have moved to a translucent logo in the corner from the color ones. Try lowering the contrast or playing games that have movement everywhere on the screen. If something is on for a few minutes, it won't kill you, but pausing for a half an hour might (but the same thing goes for the CNN or ESPN logos too). I think DSP is the only technology that doesn't get burn in besides regular old direct view CRT.
