Sorry... I was just trying to think of a different way of repeating your question, since I'm also looking for an LD player and would appreciate whatever suggestions people have.

Dudes, I am by no means an expert, but since I just went through all this a few weeks ago I can offer some suggestions.

I bought a Pioneer. It plays great. I paid $75 it. I thought it was a good deal, many may not think so, but considering what they were priced at back in the day, I think I did ok.

Remember, shipping will be a little high too so be prepared to spend a little dough. If you look on ebay, which is where I got mine, you can most likely find a nice one under $100 bucks. Not bad I say, cheaper than most DVD players.

Don't just bid on the first one you see, look around.

Also, look to buy players with some LDs included.
Thats what I did and it was cool. I got my player and had something to watch and didnt have to wait to buy a LD.

As for buying LD, they are for the most part dirt fucking cheap, but be careful, alot are in standard format (fullscreen) unless the flick is meant to be seen like that, watch out!

Good luck guys and let us know what happens.

What model did you buy? That is my biggest problem. Pioneer seems like the most common and best on Ebay, and Im looking to spend between 100-200 (depending on what I get with it), but there are so many different models I cant figure out whats good.

As long as it's a Pioneer...you shouldn't have to worry about make and model.

Course it's been...over ten years since I paid attention to that shit, so what do I know.

Not a damn thing.

Other than to "Go Pioneer..."

Pioneer. Gotcha. I'd say $75-80 is about my price limit. Thanks.
