direct tv

Does anyone know about hooking direct tv up? Mine is up and running, but I'd like to get the feed to a back bedroom without another receiver. I don't care about watching a different channel from room to room; it can be the same channel. the installer called it "back feeding" --does anyone have an idea of how to do this?

By a splitter at Radio Shack and split the cable going from the DTV unit into your TV?

That's what I was thinking...I would split that outside at the main connection to the coaxial, right?

No...the coax coming from the DTV converter TO your TV...just put a splitter there and run another cable to the other TV.

Make sure you split the signal AFTER you go through the receiver. I've done this with my Dish signal, and have it running to my basement, as well as the living room. I have a UHF remote, so I can go to the basement, and still change channels from down there. But, if someone is upstairs, I'm still tied to whatever they want to watch.

You'll need to get a dual-LMB satellite if you want to watch two different things at once on two different receivers.

Yeah, that's pretty much why he said he didn't want to have two receivers.

I got a Direct TV back when i worked at blockbuster because that were 50 bucks and I was supposed to get a 50 buck commision, making it free (though I don't think I ever got the commision... fucking ass ramming mormon bastards) and the 52 free rental card. Of course a while after that they were giving them away for free. Anyway, i don't really like it because most of the cable channels are on east coast feed, which means that South Park is on at 7 instead of 10 and i always miss it. Works that way with some other shows too. One good thing was the Sopranos would be one 3 hours early so it wouldn't conflict with Alias.
I so fucking need a TiVo though, was hoping they'd offer me one of the Ultimate TV Direct TV things with the TiVo inside, but the bastards didn't.
My one fond memory of satellite, was a few years back when my dad had the descrambler cards that would give you every channel, and i would have like 6 porn channels.... yeah them were the days. unfortunately every 3 months or so those fuckers would zap the cards making them know good, then it would take another 2 months to get them back leaving me one month before they zapped them again. There was a time when it would go months and months and months with no zap. Those were some good months.
