HELP with an Video file conversion to Audio CD problem

Thread Starter
Ok, some friends of mine saw the Family Guy episode the other day when Peter goes to visit the Wonka style brewery, and they heard "The Inebriation Song". They all work in a bar and of course, they want the song on a CD to play there.

I downloaded that episode off of Limewire and it is a .mov file.

Now what I want to do is cut off the rest of that episode and just burn the audio of that song onto a CD in a .wav file.

I am about as computer literate as a groundhog, so if anyone could tell me how to do this it would be much appreciated.

The cheap way to do it is if you have an Audigy card or some other program that will allow you to record audio that your computer is playing, you can play the episode and pull the audio off as it is playing. The slightly more expensive way is to plug a recording device like an MD player into your audio jacks and do the same thing, then put the MD in the in jacks and record it back. The most expensive way I know of is by using Adobe Premier to split the audio off and then you can save the audio as a separate file. You can probably search CNET Downloads.com for a program that will record audio as well.

If chainsaw's suggesion doesn't work for you I have another...

First, right click the program icon and find out what video and audio format it was encoded in.

Second, go here and download the appropriate copy of VirtualDub 1.5.4 to match your processor type.

Third, install VirtualDub.

Fourth...

Open the file in VirtualDub under File\Open Video File

Click Edit\Beginning

Using the controls on the bottom of the VirtualDub window set the video to begin where the song starts.

Click Offset Start (located at the bottom of the window).

Move the cursor to set the video to end where the song ends.

Click End Offset (right next to Start Offset).

Click File\Save As AVI

Let it finish this task.

Once done...

Click File\Open Video File and open the new file you created.

Click Audio\Full Processing Mode.

Then click Compression in the same drop down menu.

In the window that opens highlight the first option "No compression (PCM)" and click OK.

Click File\Save WAV.

When it finishes you will have an audio WAV file of the cut.

If you have any questions or need assistance feel free to PM me. I do this kind of thing all the time.
