the front of my tv

Alright I have my dvd player hooked up through the red, yellow, white wires to the front of my tv. In order for me to make it work I have to press input on my remote control and it turns the front plugs on so it can reciveve a signal then i turn my dvd on. Problem is my remote broke and im hard up for money to buy another universal one. So is there a way to turn the front red, yellow, white jacks on from the tv? I tried looking for a way to do it hrough the menu and I couldn't find anything. Help!

Unless you have a tv/video button, you're out of luck. The good news is that a universal remote goes for as little as $10.

You might also be able to run the dvd player through the inputs on your vcr (if it has them). I've seen this done with a PlayStation, but not a DVD player, but it should work. Then you'll turn your tv to the VCR channel, and choose input on your vcr.

Good luck.

Actually, you shouldn't try running your DVD player through the RCA inputs on your VCR, as it supposedly affects the quality of the picture when you watch DVDs. This was one of the first things I read when I opened the manual to my player. If there's an input button on the broken remote, there's bound to be one on the TV as well, as my TV has the TV/Video input button on both the remote and the TV itself.

Good luck!

Not always, unfortunately.

Two of the TVs in my house have the usual AV button on the remote. However, on the set itself, the Channel Up/Down buttons skip over the AV channels and there is no other way of accessing them on the set. This seems to be an ever-increasing practice nowadays for some reason.

So an All-In-One remote will probably be needed.

Running the DVD player through the VHS player will give you lesser picture quality than plugging directly into the TV, but if it's the only way of viewing DVDs until you pick up a remote, it's better than nothing.

Some DVDs come hopelessly scrambled when running through a VCR due to copy protection / Macrovision.

Ah, that slipped my mind.

Looks like an All-In-One remote is the only option.
