I can't wait to get my hands on this sucker.

I've had this for a few days now. Love the Clancy commentary.

Where do you order from, Fett? You seem to be getting a load of stuff early.

Various places. The best seem to be Movietyme and Future. Sum came from Future, while I got Spider-Man on wednesday from Movietyme. Movietyme also have a list on their front page of when they're getting in the big releases, for example LOTR extended on the 28/10.

Play.com are really getting their act together too. Monsters Inc 2 week before release. ET Ultimate Gift Edition 10 days before release.

Can't wait for this. One of the (surprise?) pictures of the year without a doubt.

You think we should get back to Sum Of All Fears?

But you're right. RE: the discussion at hand. I'm really intrigued by this Clancy/Robinson thing ? Perhaps Charles can shed light, is it tense in the way the magnificent Lem Dobbs/Soderbergh commentary for the The Limey was ?

It's basically Clancy ripping Phil Alden Robinson and the filmmakers for what they did to his book. He's a very funny guy, and understandably (but astoundingly) knowledgeable on military stuff. He's also a funny guy. It's amazing the amount of stuff he points out that they get wrong, but it's fascinating to hear him. I wish he didn't dislike the other Ryan movies, I'd love to hear him talk on those.

But is he funny?

Quiet, you.

Chud captions, from the incredibly smart & witty to the nonsensical:

While lacking in budget, the Apple Valley Middle School stage presentation of Videodrome made up for it in devotion.

"Waiter, could you bring me another order of Baked Lando Calrission with a side of drizzled Lobot?"

OK, ill definately be getting the dvd, if not only for Goldsmith's insanely repetitive, but memorable music. The movie was good and all, but the last half of the movie, as the attacks gear up, its that same tune over and over, in slightly different variations. It gets stuck in your head! And towards the end, call me crazy, but that damn tune pops up again, right as the shot with the presidents signing that treaty. The way the music was played in the opening seconds of that scene reminded me of a sitcom. I'm probably the only one who knows what I'm talking about, though.

I know what you mean. I was scratching my head all the way through asking myself if he'd used it somewhere else before.

Some parts reminded me of Total Recall, but overall its a good soundtrack.

Clancy ripping the movie seems strange to me. Didn't he get some kind of producer credit? Also, if this was his favorite out of the Jack Ryan movies, I'd hate to think what he'd say about the other three.

I'll rent it just to see if I can find anything positive about changing the race of the bad guys. Nick insists to this day it was the smart thing to do. Maybe a second look will make things more clear.

I believe Clancy was the executive producer! Why would he allow the movie to be altered in such a way? Don't execs have a say in the making of a movie?

Hence his habit of overwriting every sequence in his books to MAKE SURE YOU KNOW how accurate he is, to the detriment of dramatic structure.
