Nice review, Devin. Just got through reading Bukowski's Hollywood, so I'll be checking this out. Glad to hear the disc's got a decent amount of extras.

I am. I think we've got similar views on his poetry, but I always fly through his prose. Good stuff.

I tried to watch this movie in college, and couldn't stand it. All I remember from the movie was that it seemed every other shot was Mickey Rourke raising a glass and saying, "To my friends," sounding remarkably like Snaggletooth.

Damn that was good. Good review. Not a Bukowski poetry fan either...the prose is good though.

Great review, I agree.
HOLLYWOOD is a great read; Barfly is lackluster and Mickey Rourke couldn't carry Bukowski's balls with a wheel-barrow, but if you use the book as a sort of companion, it makes the movie a bit more interesting.

On some sort of perverse level I like the cover art because it looks like all the old puffer case VHS release WB put out, with the cut out frame shot, like on the old Superman II (among many).
