I miss the screencaps.

SJRs reviews, as always, are great reads (isn't it great that we've got the writers we do on this site?), but I miss the character as well.

I agree but I'd had the shop review for a month and decided to run it. SJR's a busy guy, and I think the mentality from all of us should be "if he contributes at all, that's a bonus". I'll miss the screencaps, but at least he's still around... for now.

Nick, maybe it's just me, but the above post really makes it sound like you're planning on having Jack rubbed out in the not-too-distant future.

No way. I love the man, he's just doing so much work that it's hard for him to do all that he was.

Solid reviews, and honest. I'm glad he didn't defend these flicks for being old and worthy without saying "hey, I think this movie has problems." Still, I think he's underrated The Shop Around the Corner. There is a sense of aloneness in that film that I think most romantic comedies are afraid to touch. But maybe that's just me.

I am in total agreement with you, Nick. We are lucky to get whatever we can from the talented individuals who contribute. Not being privy to SJR's schedule, I didn't know if it was a conscious decision, a techonological hurdle, or an oversight.

I'm perhaps the only one around here who often ignores the screencaps. Yeah, I find em funny sometimes... but being only a casual movie fan I often miss many of the refrences. Anyway, my free time to surf the web is very small these days, and I usually focus on the review itself over the captions.

Also, in some instances I would find it beneficial to forgoe the 'any random shot that will allow for a funny caption' in replace of some shots which correlate to whats going on in the review (story, actors, picture quality, etc.) I know everyone loves the funny screencaps, so keep 'em, but maybe some informative ones as well?

Anyway.. back on topic... the whole point of my rant was to say how much I enjoy SJR's reviews, and screencaps or not I find them to always be among the very best CHUD has to offer.
