Maybe we can have a bit called "The Reviews Not Meant To Be"? Brotherhood of the Wolf could be in there too.

*O ga O ga cha cha, O ga O ga cha cha!*

C'mon guys, Nick's been working on that cure for cancer in between songwriting, guitar playing, review writing, web-mastering, movie watching, music listening, book reading, comic drawing, coffee meeting, Halo playing, celebrity interviewing, home buying and marriage maintaining. Give him another hour, at least...

Actually, the lack of response told me that DVD reviews were pretty secondary in Chewer's minds.

I actually have 4 reviews coming in the next three days:

Undisputed
Spider-Man
MIB II
Goldmember

I did the Glengarry captions I had for my review and ran them as A 10 grabs because the disc was out and i didn't get my copy from a studio.

Folks, now that I know you're interested I'll make them more of a priority.

Strangely each time you IM him you find out in fact he has been taken hostage or something. That and he cannot resist the call of certain entities.

Sure he names them many things but I think it's first name begins with a C and the last name begins with a N.

Please do. The DVD reviews are one of the best things about CHUD.

I'm always afraid to bring it up. You're a damn busy guy, Nick, and I don't really want to push you or anything. But, yes, the DVDs are most definitely a priority. Just go ahead and smack yourself in the face for ever doubting that.

i love the reviews. read every one of them.

I've decided not to review discs I have to BUY. Hence the lack of a Band of Brothers review as well. The studios want to be tightassed and not respect us as a legit source, they can get their press elsewhere.
Good for you Nick and I'm glad to see a major movie site take a stand like this....
Where the hell is E.T.?
I'm fully with you on your stand, Nick. Still, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the boards sometime of the Band of Brothers DVD. We'll keep it secret... we'll keep it safe...

Sorry... I just finished watching that.

Doesn't that kind of put CHUD in a lose-lose situation when it comes to DVD reviews? If you don't review the film, you deny the readers of the CHUD persepective. If you do review the film you pay for, the studios don't have to acknowledge you as legit.

That's a damn shame.

It's rough, but Nick has a point.
If CHUD was a DVD only site, yeah it'd put our readers in the mire. Thankfully DVD is just one facet of a myriad we cover. Thankfully I'm in a position where I can choose my battles.

Very nice, Nick, keep 'em coming...

Also, I think not reviewing paid-for discs is a great idea, although if you post your thoughts on the boards (assuming a thread exists) you'd be able to share your thoughts whilst flipping off the tight-sphinctered studios...

I'd just like to echo everyone else's sentiments.
I am really looking forward to your review of Spiderman and I understand the BOB deal and can respect that.

Excellent sir great review and as I feared the DVD continues to underwhelm.

The comic documentaries on the Spidey DVD are gold, but the movie stuff is a bit blah.

As for the review... The Cider House Explodes - that's a keeper.
Yeah, but overall the disc could have been SO much better.
Why is it so many docus used to be like an hour and over, and now are like 25 minutes? The comic one with all the artists was so good, but could have been so much longer and deeper. Instead we have to put up with some more E! bullshit. Even something akin to the 'Men Behind The Army' featurette would have been nice, but it's all pretty lame.

Great review, Nick. That Ben Reilly caption is pure gold. And thanks for that "bladder infection" seal-of-approval.

Great review Nick, especially since you captured my feelings exactly.

Heh..that's good!

Nick, I enjoyed the Spidey review, but I would really love to read your review of Glengarry. This puppy is on my Christmas wish list. Excellente!

Agreed. I was hoping for some serious documentaries and instead there's only the crap HBO and E! television specials. What pissed me off the most was not having the full theatrical trailer featuring E.S. Posthumus' "Pompeii" I always got chills when I saw that one.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I found the screencaps pants-wettingly hilarious.

You guys got your review. Discuss!

Great review as always!! Sounds like a definite must buy. Pity about the extras but since I buy my dvd's more for the quality of lucious letterbox that's not as big a deal.

Favorite cap:

<img src="http://66.118.172.75/chudvd/reviews/images5/spide9.jpg" alt="" />

Jennifer Connelly, Selma Blair, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and several of their peers all made sure to be at the world premiere of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man.

Well balanced review. I like DVD reviews from CHUD because they are not fanboy fueled rants or filled with overly technical lingo that goes over my head. I must say I was taken aback by the 7.8 score at first. Then I realized it's a DVD review, not a MOVIE review. Good stuff.

Captions funny. PArticularly the showdown between the Scandinavian and Spider-James.
Since I'm one of the three people on this planet who simply can't get enough Northstar-related humor, I actually laughed out loud at that caption. Funny stuff, Nick. And great review.

But you can't beat the price that Todd paid for his balls.
